0:08 - Soft. 97a. Soft. ..... Wow. Mid to late 80s I rode 88a or 92a. 97 and up was considerd hard, used for ramps, not street. Parks were uncommon to rare. Also 60mm .. Santa Cruz Slimeballs. Sometimes Street Bones.
Yea same. 95A was the go to for rough UK terrain. 97A was strictly for ramps/indoor parks. 70mm 78A Kryps on the transport board. You could ride over cobbles with those :D
Same here. When I first started back skating about 8 months ago (33 years later), I couldn't believe people were skating 99a and even 101a, even for street. I remember skating 92a OJ Street Speed wheels a lot. The hardest wheels I skated then were a set of 95a Powell Crossbones or G&S Bam Bams. But 92a seemed to work good for everything for me back then, including mini ramp. And yeah, all 60mm wheels w/ half inch risers.
@@CH-nz6ys I think the hardness scale got inflated a bit over time. So an 80's 97a wheel is a lot like a new 101a wheel. Still wouldn't call anything 95a+ "Soft" tho lol
Some differences between the wheels are that Nano Cubics are offset, Original Dragons are center set, Nano Rats are center set & smaller in width. Nano Rats have a Lock-In inner edge, which the original Dragon Formula wheels don’t have. Nano Rats are available in both 93A & 97A. The 54x39 & 56x39 Nano Rats cover the axle nuts.
Reminds me that I should try the Nano Cubes on my 8.5” shaped cruiser complete, throw the Dragons on my 8” street complete and see if I like it better. In other words, I have NanoCubes on my street complete, with Dragons in storage. Normally the shaped complete’s for cruising, but maybe the conical shape + hardness of the NanoCubes will still work okay for cruising… Side note, a Powell-Peralta old school shape is on my list for upgrading my cruiser/street complete at some point, wonder if there’s an 8.5 or 9 that’ll work the same as my Welcome deck?

@@powellperalta awesome, thanks for the overview! Makes sense. I like the nano cubics, but do sometimes wonder if the bit of extra width is adding weight where I don’t necessarily want it. Nice to have more options! Btw, eagerly awaiting Chris’s pro deck!

I bet they wear down faaaaast like the Dragon Formula and I doubt that they are better for longer grinds. So it is clickbait anyway. Worst part there will probably never 70-85mm wheels out there with Dragon Formula. I'm down from 55mm to about 49mm in less than a month with Dragon Formula (I'm a snakeboarder who rides almost daily 1-2h).
Better for longer grinds compared to the original 93A, because they are now available in 97A with a lock-in inner edge. Downhill Squad has been experimenting with 78mm and 70mm lately instagram.com/p/C8-CkVQP-YE/
@@powellperalta Finally! I've send you a msg multiple times regarding bigger wheels and didn't get an answer yet. Well, that are great news! Will buy them asap! I REALLY NEED THEM for my city snakeboard (Spluge). It's no fun to stop on a snakeboard with +25mph and I LIKE POWERSLIDES! ;)
@@powellperalta I wish I could test them right now! :( Don't forget about streetboarding aka snakeboarding! The Dragon Formula is especially for a street/snakeboard a MUST HAVE game changer that I wanted 25 years ago. I broke my foot doing a 360 over a spin with 90a wheels and got stuck = broke my foot. I'm pretty sure the Dragon Formula can prevent A LOT! Especially riding with high speeds and havin' the opportunity to do a powerslide. If you could make them more durable that would be INSANE! ❤
I'm ready for some re-incarnated Powell Street Style wheels. PLEEEEEEASE!!! (and enough with the "safe" colors, bring back the neons!)
Hiett has such cool style
Great skater, great review. Currently skating the nano cubes and looking forward to getting a set of these.
Much appreciated

I see no big difference to the nano cubics :( just a cooler look
@@Hardcorestilllives nano cubes are an offset wheel. As Andy says, it helps to guard your axle nut against damage, nano rats bearings are centered.
Is homie ever gonna get a pro deck?
It'd prob sell ok.
Most definitely would sell
Both him and Zach need the pro decks
I think the experimental board he's been on is going to be his pro model.
They are coming.
@@2m7b5 P and P used to do this in the 80s... In this day and age, in this day and age of all sorts of shapes, it seems like a bit much.

Interested in the nano rat, more interest in Chris’s board!
the moment christophers pro model deck drops Iḿ going to get it.
lets go with the Heitt flight deck!

big fan of both the dragon and the nano cubic! got to try these out in 97a!
Amazing ❤
Much love Christopher bro, rise with the fallen 🖤
