I have one with heal clip and kill clip and it's my favourite weapon this season. Truly beautiful sidearm. I feel like heal clip is a sleeper perk in pvp. Yes, it is only 30hp but it helps lowering the amount of hp you need to regen and allowing more aggressive play style.
Funny thing about this: In the final episode of the Massive Breakdowns podcast, they had Mercules on. And while talking about Lightweight Handcannons, and how weapons need to have appropriate stats for their activity (so a destination weapon like Waking Vigil isn't insane), Merc did bring up how sometimes they put out weapons in the World pool that have "really cracked" statlines, where he then cited Redback as an example. So then, they also asked him if there was any new Lightweight Sidearms on the way. And he revealed that he had built himself a Lightweight Sidearm, in a similar vein to Redback, for S22. And that it was his go-to weapon in PvP playtesting. ...I guess we now know which sidearm he was talking about.

I've been a lightweight sidearm evangelist for a while. Back in the day, the only one I though could hang is the farewell since it rolled rangefinder. Redback is a solid option since it had inherently twice the range of the farewell. But with the zoom change, all of the lightweights became playable. As long as you're using it as a sidearm, the lightweights are king. Slightly slower ttk than the adaptive (.067 vs .6), but its more forgiving (important as a cqc spam weapon), lightweight frame (inherently fast handling, higher jumps, and sprint speed), and manageably fast rpm (i hate full auto on sidearms. tap firing at lightweight max rpm is possible). Even without solid perks, the lightweight frames are carrying a lot of the weight. That being said, the world drop weapon rate is killing me. I've had like 2 drop and I'm almost 100 in season rank. Give us a focus, or at minimum a rng skew towards the new stuff like coolguy suggests.
If they made it so legendary world armor stopped dropping after you've obtained it in collections it would help a ton with the world drop pool issue imo. I got one of these for the first time the other day. Dropped with Kill clip and enlightened action and a range masterwork! Very excited to try it out if the game ever becomes stable enough to play.
i got one with hammer-forged, accurized, pm, kill clip and a reload mw. never really liked sidearms much, decided to give it a try and it’s one of my mains now in crucible. love this thing on dawnblade with a hand cannon or pulse.
I feel like the weighting should be largely equal BUT: Let the Gunsmith take up a bit of this old roll. Give us a better way to earn Gunsmith reputation and allow that rank up package to be traded for a pool of foundry weapons, any world Omolons, any world Häkkes, etc. Hell, if that's too much what about a weekly selection: this week you get Häkke heavies, SUROS specials, and any foundry's Autorifles. Rank up (quicker) -> get a Gunsmith engram -> cash it in for one of these pools.
This was my og sidearm before anything else came around years later. Damn it's good to back buuuuuuut aggressive frames are my favorites now and with a dmg boost, they just mow down anyone with a burst or two.
It’s a great gun. I managed to get Extended Barrel, Flared Mag, Perp Motion, Kill Clip, Range MW. It 100% performs. When they give us foundry focusing next season, I’m going after a Heal Clip + Incandescent/Frenzy roll for PvE. Shred adds at mid-tier activities with a health sustain perk.
I finally had one drop today while getting Wishender, and it's a pretty good roll imo. HFR or small bore, accurized rounds, enlightening action, kill clip, and RL MW. This sidearm is amazing. I used it in trials and got most of my kills with it.
It’s because of this gun I found out Enlightened Action and Precision Instrument existed. That dropped for me first day of the season. Honestly I wish I had kill clip with enlighten action now that I’ve seen it, but it’s a good gun either way. This thing melts people, but precision instrument is hard to stay on target with how that perk ends if you miss. Definitely want the Enlightened/KClip combo.
The heal kill combo has helped mitigate my reservations about kill clip. I frequently don’t have enough health after a gunfight to make kill clip viable. So it helped me out a shocking amount.
I have a Heal+Kill Clip roll with tac mag, Hammerforged and Range MW, really want to try it out in Crucible but just haven't gotten around to it especially with how these past couple days have been
I managed to get one with Smallbore/Fluted, Extended Mag, MT, KC, Range MW. Haven’t tried it yet since I haven’t been playing a ton, but I’m sure it’s very good. After looking at it on Foundry I don’t think I’d change a single perk on it, though the third perk doesn’t seem to have any obvious choices anyway. HC, MT, PM, and Demo all seem like solid choices
It’s nice to have a lightweight in the energy slot. I have grenade solar builds for all 3 characters and I got a Small bore, Accurized, Enlighted action, adrenaline junkie that is amazing. Lots of good perks.
Sidearms in general feel so weird to use. Somewhere in the Venn Diagram of reticle bounce, accuracy cones, range/stability, recoil animations, gun models, etc. the only way i've found to consistently hit shit is to gradually pull the mouse down to fight the bullets seemingly drawing up from the center of the screen like CSGO. That being said, the only sidearm that I ever liked was a couple surplus Spoiler Alerts I had. I'm hoping to find a copy of this one at all since it has the same gun model to see if it holds up.
I have a red back with small bore, steady rounds, killing wind, opening shot and range masterwork. And man does this thing rip, for some reason it out stats every other lightweight sidearm and it comes with the veist origin trait which is a godsend.
Mercules tweeted about Redback several months ago, and I discovered I had the same exact roll. It's been one of my all-time favorite Crucible weapons. So I'm keeping my eye on this one should I get a good roll to drop!
I've always loved LW sidearms even before the range normalization, I love them as secondary weapons, but damn it is hard to get them, we definitely need a craftable LW sidearm
I've been waiting for a lightweight sidearm for a LONG while. Takes me back to Zeal Vector every time I use one. Obviously nothing hits like that used to, but it feels great to rip with a spam sidearm again.
I have a frenzy heal clip for support and it’s amazing. Only issue is that I hate the model and how the suppressor pops up in front of your face, obscuring the target you’re shooting at. Makes it kind of spray and pray so I’m looking for an igneous hammer with the same roll.
Mine has Heal Clip + Incandescant and the latter doesn't come up too often in crucible but Heal Clip is nice when running Ember of Benevolence (I think that's the one, apply Cure to team and get ability regen). I use it on my Lumina Assembler build and it's a ton of fun.
I guess I might be one of the nine. Extended or Hammer Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds or Tactical Mag, Perpetual Motion and Incandescent (missed it by that much...) with a Range masterwork. Using Extended Barrel, it's 100 recoil and hits a range of 61 with the masterwork. Impressive little pea shooter.
Just FYI, Bungie confirmed on Reddit that they plan to bring back focusing for foundry and world drop weapons next season. Hopefully that should make getting weapons like this one just easier come next season.
He’s clip precision instrument is godly in trials. Also incandescent heal clip has clutched up for me many many times. I’ve crutches this weapon since trials got checkmate rules and it’s carried me to the lighthouse ever since!
The roll I have with heal clip has been really good. Getting a kill then reloading and getting that chunk of healing saves your bacon more often than I thought it would.
Im one of the 9 that got it! I have an enlightened action precision instrument roll, i like how with those 2 perks and the origin trait, it basically says shoot this gun, and it gets better!
With the Banshee update including Foundry weapon focusing, I hope Bungie adds Tex Mechanica, Nadir, Daito, and Crux/Lomar, to Banshee too. And new and old Black Armory weapons and armor to Ada-1 respectively. Imagine going to Ada-1 for a god roll, or red border, BA weapon? It’d give more incentive to visit her besides shaders and armor.
I got quite a few drops of this. One with kill clip and heal clip, stability MW accurized. One with heal clip and incandescent, range MW appended. Enlightened kill clip (shitty left column and MW) and a few others sitting in my vault. I run the heal clip kill clip and enlightened kill clip in pvp
I got this first week of the season. Healclip Precision is my go too. It literally hard carried through day 1 crota. Perfct weapon for close range and so many bonuses without losing on anything important
I got moving target incandescent day one from my first engram this season. havent been able to put it down for long at a time since if I can fight up close. absolute monster this thing!
No heliocentric yet, but ive got a ~4/5 Redback from the world pool! Its 47 Range, 60 base Stability, AND Perpetual Motion on top of that. Thing's a dream to shoot! Lightweights have always been a favorite, but they need a good roll. i wish there were more out there
I personally have 2 with precision instrument. One has range finder and the other has perpetual motion. I personally love precision instrument on the gun even though it may be inconsistent because of how unforviging it can be. It's basically like target lock but only for precisions and I think it has a place. It ramps up pretty quickly and it snags me kills I though I'd lose if it wasn't for those 1 or 2 crits i did kind of by accident.
I have two of these so far, so so rolls. Fluted/Small Accurized/Appended Moving Target Incandescent Arrowhead/Hammer Forged Alloy/Flared Perpetual motion Percision Instrument If the D2 servers were not so harsh the last few days, I'd have maybe one or two more.
On PC with mnk, sidearms are not good. Without reticle stickiness, It's hard to track targets. The sight sits too low to see the target, you end up having to aim using the health bar. I've deleted dozens of these, but have kept a couple just in case they get better.
LMAO 9 of us. Dude, I play this game quite a bit (that's an understatement :)) and I didn't even recognize the sidearm :( The world drops are crazy rare.
I don't know what's worse. This era of world drops or the Edge Transit era. A this point, make dedicated farms. Have a lost sector have a high chance to get 3 different world drop legendaries, with a guaranteed drop in legend, and double or triple in master lost sectors. If there was a farm, I'd play that activity to get guns like THIS
Sorry, i can't put down my range mw / hip fire / moving target Fiortura for this. Maybe if i get a better roll than the perpetual motion / surrounded one I have, but the bar is very high for energy slot sidearms. Keep the great content coming, always enjoy your videos.
My Helio is the exact same roll but with Moving Target and Precision instrument and can 4 tap Precision without having to reload. It's insane how underrated this sidearm is.
I found one with kill-clip and perpetual motion, all around a great roll. This thing melted on the last iron Bananer! I really liked this in combination with the Kingsfall Raid Sniper. Hadn’t had this much fun in the cruicible in a while.

i got one with hammer-forged, accurized, pm, kill clip and a reload mw. never really liked sidearms much, decided to give it a try and it’s one of my mains now in crucible. love this thing on dawnblade with a hand cannon or pulse.
I have this with Precision Instrument - it wrecks! I get way more critical hits than you would think possible - the hit registration has magic sauce.
This is sooo good. I’ve been singing it’s praises for the last few weeks
Just got this sidearm to drop for the first time. Got hammerforged appended mag perpetual killclip and a stability MW. I’m loving this lil guy
Haven't used it in PvP but I got a heal clip, incandescent roll and found it in my vault and took it in for crota raid.
Great little sidearm!
I've always liked the lightweight sidearms in general. I got a decent PVP one of these with corkscrew, accurized, moving target, KC, stability
The new world weapons are so cool. I’ve only dropped one of these, but it had heal clip and kill clip and I was so pumped.
Got a demo + incandescent, tactical mag, corkscrew rifling and a range masterwork. Love it in Pve
I was fortunate enough to get one with Demo and Incan for PvE. Can't wait for sidearm mods again.
Been saving every role waiting for your video to tell me what to keep!
Damn im glad i kept the enlightened action/kill clip roll w/ range MW that dropped for me the other day. Trying it out asap
Been waiting 10 seasons for this!
I just want one with heal clip kill clip.
Lightweights have always been a favorite, but they need a good roll. i wish there were more out there
healing clip with kill clip on this is like perfection
and slap on the full auto mod for the perfect jack of all trades sidearm
I have been waiting for this video since the very first one dropped for me THANK YOU CG😁
Its so good. Got perpetual kill clip and it shreds. Pairs very well with Yasmin for an aggressive sniper playstyle
I have two of these so far, so so rolls.
Fluted/Small
Accurized/Appended
Moving Target
Incandescent
Arrowhead/Hammer Forged
Alloy/Flared
Perpetual motion
Percision Instrument
If the D2 servers were not so harsh the last few days, I'd have maybe one or two more.
I’ve got a low range heal clip/kill clip roll and I used it in place of a shotgun as backup during the last iron banner and it was putting in work.
I don't know what's worse. This era of world drops or the Edge Transit era. A this point, make dedicated farms. Have a lost sector have a high chance to get 3 different world drop legendaries, with a guaranteed drop in legend, and double or triple in master lost sectors. If there was a farm, I'd play that activity to get guns like THIS
Heal clip also heals your teammates so you can activate Ember of Benevolence with it as well as Noble Deeds
I got one with Heal Clip and Kill Clip and it turns out to be really, really great in add-heavy pve.
I have that roll as well. It's wild how often you can stay at full health.
@@matthewboomin The combo of fast ROF, relatively small mags and quick reload time is pretty magical.
@@anotherkenlon Add in some firesprites from Incandescent for more healing. Sheeeeesh
Rangefinder + Precision Instrument feels so nice.
I found one with kill-clip and perpetual motion, all around a great roll. This thing melted on the last iron Bananer! I really liked this in combination with the Kingsfall Raid Sniper. Hadn’t had this much fun in the cruicible in a while.
Glad a permanent foundry focus is coming soon to combat the world loot pool
