Oh yeah, the white looks killer and is a nice change of pace from the same red we've seen for decades now lol! I'm with you on that, she could stand to have fuel injection thrown at her among some other tweaks to really bring it into the 21st century...
@@Po_Buoy_Fresh They don't sell that much in Texas... The adv market is becoming super competitive with so many options and more on the way. I just prefer the body style of XR650l to a KLR and with it being a 2nd bike in my stable it will sit for when I occasionally want to do dirt and with elevation changes FI wins. I'm pretty sure dealers maybe sell 5 bikes a year tops.
@@ganuvien I’m going to stick to what I said earlier… stop trying to change the XR! It is what it is for a reason! Low tech, carburetor, air cooled. It can take you anywhere.
@@Po_Buoy_Fresh that's not to say a liquid cooled, fuel injected bike can't take you anywhere...there's a reason all cars have moved to fuel injection. I don't really care about liquid cooled but fuel injection and a 6th gear would be nice...just modernize it alittle and put it on a diet. Not everyone likes to mess around with a carb or has the know how to take it apart and clean it...I have yet to see a fuel injection system on a bike fail...this is 2022 we're talking about.
Are we ever going to see those transalp rumors materialize? I love my CRF300L, but would love in the next year or two to graduate to something in between it and the AT
Hopefully! Patents etc tell us that Honda still has that in the works as well as some other models too but we'll see the new Hornet roll out before it. If it does make it to production, it can't come soon enough and your timeline of the next year or two may be perfect ;)
Same here man, very surprised with the sales success it had that they didn't decide to import the Matte Fresco Brown or Pearl Organic Green to accompany the Glowing Red here in the USA. Another thing I would LOVE to sit down and talk with the big wigs about at Honda that make these decisions and see their thought process behind it all and why they did this or that etc...
Thanks for breaking the disappointing news on the USA 2022 Trail. I was hoping for brown or green... drat! Keep up the good work. I watch all of your videos.
I was hoping the crf300l would get the led lights/turn signals like the thailand market and maybe a graphics update to look more like crf450rl/crf250f etc. Don't get how the xr650l got new graphics but not a new bike on its 2nd year run.
I hear ya man and you're not the only one! You could order the tank from overseas but it's not going to be cheap, it'll probably tack on another $1,500'ish. You could always turn around and sell your black one and recoup some of the cost and then you'll have a pretty "rare" bike here in the states but not everyone wants to jump through those hoops and it's definitely understandable. It's a lot easier to just be able to buy it in the color you want from the get-go lol!
I wish! That'd be the smartest decision they could make. If they did that, it'd be good to go for another decade or more with a nice boost in sales - which it needs. They still do decent but the more mini bikes they bring out, the less popular it becomes and the introduction of the NAVi was a knife in its side so-to-say lol.
@@ralphkeith2905 I have a 1000RR and a Fury… Huge Honda fan for many years. I rode my Son in laws RUCKUS and I love it. I’m getting one for my old behind!

Yep that'd be a great seller here in the UK. The 500 engine in my wife's Rebel is an awesome engine. Would be a great engine to stick into a new platform 🤞
Please do some with the xr650l it’s Embarrassing. Use the same engine and frame, make it fuel injected and put adv body work on it and lower the seat height a bit. It would make a awesome adv bike in my opinion!
At the time of making this, American Honda is only importing the 30th Anniversary Edition in Pearl White. As much as I love that scheme, I really wish they'd bring over the other colors the rest of the world sees and the "standard" CBR1000RR-R too while they're at it.
It doesn't make sense. I wanted the CBR650R but they only bring over the black. So I thought I would like to get the new body CBR600RR, but they aren't bringing it over. Then I decided to go with the CBR1000RR-R SP but now they have dropped red and only bring us white. The other one I want is the new PCX but only white is available here. I just want a red Honda.
My exact thoughts too. I love the new color combo, a nice change of pace from the red we've seen decade after decade but I think it needs some more love thrown its way. It doesn't have to be an entirely new bike but at least do something similar to what Kawi did with the KLR. Maybe this is just to hold us over while they finish developing its replacement...
They can not change the xr650l because of emissions laws. The xr650l doesn’t need efi or digital dash. All it needs to do is start, run, and take you to the ends of the earth. It doesn’t need to change! It has been doing these things for 30 years.
@@Po_Buoy_Fresh Honda can change anything it wants. If it's emissions related they just have to bear the recertification costs. They may not bother as everything will need to move to any electric platform within a decade or so. ;)
@@SWTrailsAndWheels yes Honda can do what it wants. But they also know when shit gets thick this old air cooled carbd bike will spank a KLR and a DR it is still the best dirt bike in its class why change stuff and make it cost more money?!?
I think the whole point of keeping the XR650L, is to offer a bike that's low-tech. That can be repaired on the side of the road. It's been unchanged since the 90s, it must cost them very little to manufacture. It makes Honda decent money because of that, even if they sell just a few per year. Adding FI on the other hand would require investing in legacy tech, re-certify emissions which probably costs a ton, and it would still be a niche bike.

I would like to see the availability of these bikes in the dealers. Every time I visit the dealers there is no inventory and I have had a 300L on order for 3 months. Makes you want to give up on motorcycles
Oh yeah, the XR needs a bit more love thrown its way! More than just a new color and graphics package (I do love the color scheme though) but there are a few people out there that prefer the 1980s tech being used. I would love to see the sales numbers for it and how they've tracked over the last 20 years. From my 15 years selling them, we sold maybe 1-2 of the XR650Ls a year but sold a TON of the other CRF dual-sport models on a weekly basis. In short, I'd love to see just how many they are selling so I can wrap my head around why its feasible to keep it around but yet they give other models the axe. The next year or two is going to be interesting, Yamaha among others have been killing and there are some killer bikes in the market right now and a few in the works that are intriguing to say the least! Competition keeps everyone on their toes and we all know that when Honda is pushed, if they want to, they can develop some iconic models.
With high gas prices a Metropolitan scooter would probably fly off the dealers floor. I’ve has three of them. Great little scooters. But please a red or white one.
lol those were my words when I first heard! If there is a silver lining though, Honda has been moving announcement dates around so they can change the way "things used to be" as it used to be at minimum, 3 or so months from announcement to when you saw it on showroom floors. Now, they are trying to make it to where you'll be able to see them on showroom floors the following month after the announcement - on most models. Long story short, you'll definitely see them in CA, this year ;) However, that doesn't change the fact that they will be limited for sometime due to the backlog from this whole rona mess and what it's done to everything.
