  • After years of searching for my dream horse, I finally found him!
Meet Zapphire, a very rare buckskin Swedish warmblood stallion with four perfect white socks and incredible bloodlines.
This is a dream come true that, however, almost ended early as within a week of bringing him to his new home, he was found in his pasture struggling to walk and balance. Oh, did I mention that he is located on the OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD!
Thanks for watching! This video was made in collaboration with my horse blog, Stable Talk - your trusted source for all things equine.. Whether you’re a seasoned equestrian or just starting your journey into the world of horses, we’re here to support and guide you every step of the way.

The conformation in the thumbnail and the title scared me.. I was worried it was another inexperienced horse person making an irresponsible decision.
Mind instantly changed. I love the choice of turning him out with other horses, older and younger to teach him the proper manners. I do hope that you're open to gelding him if as he ages he does not simmer down and become respectful- With stallions, especially performance horses they need to have a good mind on them or the conformation and color isn't worth the breeding (IMO).
He's gorgeous and I'm thrilled to follow your journey together.

@@clogl yes 100% agree, he’ll be a gelding unless he can be approved. I think his temperament will be ok as his bloodlines are famous for more “calm/well behaved” stallions but you never know. 🤗

Congratulations on your new colt. I also have imported 2 horses from Europe for Dressage. While watching your video I noticed something that I wanted to mention to you and this is purely for learning and not intended to shame. I have been in horses for over 30 years and in the boarding business for 22 year. I noticed in the video that when the horses were on pasture that there are dandelions going to seed. Dandelion and False Dandelion are a HUGE PROBLEM all over the World. We have been on our acreage for 30 years and they were not an issue then. Dandelions cause ulcers in horses and is very expensive to treat and painful for the horse causing all kinds of behaviour problems. You can google it, I have seen it first hand. But false dandelion which is hard to differentiate from Dandelion causes stringhalt in horses. I also have experienced this in 2 horses over the years. The plant affects the nerve endings in the hind end where I have seen a vet take pointy scissors and push down an inch on the horses hind quarters and they do not feel it. The horse literally cannot walk. The horse when it moved walked in a stringhalt manner but eventually they cannot walk. The horses need high doses of an Epileptic drug and many months to recover and not all do. Pasture management is very time consuming for the owner of the facility as it requires spraying to eradicate the noxious weed. The flower has already gone to seed and each flower carries many thousands of seed heads and eventually you will have more flower than grass. Many horse owners are not aware of the toxicity that they have on our equines. All the best with your beautiful boy. No shade only for learning to keep our loved ones healthy ❤

Such a gorgeus horse! Zafferano is such a fine-tempered and beautiful stallion. Most of his offsprings inherit some good gaits and of course his unique colour. If keeping him as a stud and breeding with him in the US, it would hopefully cause a huge impact in the breeding industry, as SWB arent too common in America. I would love to see the bloodline of some of the finest SWB stallions, continue its legacy across the world!

Whoops not to add a second comment but I have more thoughts lol!
In terms of dressage- For eventing and any kind of jumping, dressage is the base to build off of. I used to hate dressage, I found it boring. I took a few good lessons (I wish I could've continued) on nice horses when I was young and feeling their movement and talent was phenomenal. I firmly believe in dressage being the basis for any english horse sport- Flying changes, extending and collecting, building energy up in movements, learning long and low and relaxation, acceptance of the aids and bit... All of this contribute so much to how a horse jumps. The biggest thing for me though, is how much it can build their muscles in the best way when doing it correctly. When done properly, a base in dressage teaches self carriage and use of the back and belly muscles. I started working on western pleasure & dressage type training with my lease mare and it's done wonders for her fitness and willingness rather then just polework and jumping. Even more then that though, groundwork did the most for her.
Just thoughts that I'm sure you know about, but from a former dressage hater, dressage is so important for young horses to know the basics of and with a good trainer I have a feeling you will LOVE dressage on your stallion.
    For names:
Zappe could totally work in English I think, as a show name (or part of one) and barn name could be something like Spark/y, Zap, Lightning, Storm- A bit basic but could be cute.
What other names do you have for your horses?
He sort of reminds me of medieval magic, elves.. Like lord of the rings type stuff. Maybe you could name him after that.
    Best wishes!
