    I have the same issue on my EVGA 3090. I already checked the fuses and they are good. After watching this video, I'll go back and check for a short as you did. Then, I'll be contacting you folks on the repair and shipping. Thanks for the lesson.

    Hi Alex! I like how you explain, please keep it up. I knew something about electronics, but with your help I actually understood how to work efficiently. Now I don't waste time to find a defect....and my earnings have increased since I apply the methods I saw with you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and especially your experience with us. I salute the big boss and your father, as well as your wife, good luck and success in the future.

    Since wood is a very poor conductor of heat, I use a thick piece of paper towel covered with aluminum tape (so it doesn't catch on fire). I never have melted connectors, popped caps, etc. You might give it a try.

    I always find it funny when an EVGA card gets sent in. These should all still be under warranty since the factory warranty was 3 years from EVGA. Most of us bought 10 year warranties when they were only $60.

      @JockoFlocko 9 місяців тому

      EVGA is no longer in the graphics card business due to Nvidia's questionable business practices. I don't even think EVGA had/have enough 3090 & 3090Ti's on hand to fill warranty replacements...

    Basic question regarding voltage injection. There are so many other videos online, example with Macbooks, where 3.3V are injected on a 3.3V line or 5V on a 5V line. What's the theory injecting up to maximum 2V in this case in the 12V line?
    Also what air flow and temperature you use to remove the chip that fast without affecting the surrounding caps

    • @geekjit215
      @geekjit215 9 місяців тому +1

      Since the DRMOS is shorted, if you inject 12V, that 12V will go straight to the GPU core. Hence a low voltage is recommended such that the shorted component will heat up and at the same time, the actual component it is connected to does not get damaged.

  • @gbxd

    I had a similar RED LED issue with my EVGA RTX 3070. I thought it was just a simple short issue but seems like the damage is more complex and might damage the core itself. Luckily it had some about 60 days left on the warranty and had to RMA the card. I don't know if EVGA had repaired it the same way in the video or if they had replaced the whole board with a refurbished one. I had the same serial number on the backplate when it came back. I don't think EVGA will spend time repairing boards and it is easier for them to just replace it with a refurbished one and just put back on the same backplate.

  • @icebergtv336
    @icebergtv336 8 місяців тому

    I sent my 3090 in for rma everything powers on red light. The RGB light doesn’t work but the card performs as expected by benchmarks. Sent it in for RMA but friends are saying it looks more like the card melted.
    EVGA is claiming water damage when there is no visible signs on the exterior. They didn’t power on the card to see if it was working on arrival even though I stated everything in the RMA. Now they want to send me my card back without doing anything besides reassemble

    I think if is a 12 volrs line you can inyect 4 volts since its the 3rd part of the line voltaje. I know a guy who works with phones and he always inyect 4 volts 3 amps, doesnt matter the value of the line. Another guy always inyect the 3rd of the line voltaje since in both cases the short consumes the voltajes.
