They were refined by the Rashtrakutas of Manyakheta in Ellora during the period from 750 AD to 983AD. And they were refined by Chalukyas of Kalyani during the period from 983AD to 1195 AD in Lakkundi, Dambal, Gadag etc. Also they were epitomized (summarized) by the Hoysalas from 1000 AD to 1330 AD.What are the differences between the styles of the Nagara and the Dravida Architectures ? The Nagara, Dravida styles of Architectures are known as the Panchayath Architectures.The Panchayath Architecture was an old style. Basically they are sorted in 3 stages.In the first stage, there are Posts and structures.In the second stage there are carved and decorated posts at top. In the third stage , there are the most beautiful and decorated posts at the top. The Nagara style of Architecture originated from North India. And the Dravida styles of Architecture originated from South-India.In Nagara style, there are more than one Sikharas. But, in Dravida style , there is only one Sikhara. In Nagara style, there are more than one Towers. But, in Dravida style , there is always only one Gopura. In Nagara style, the central Tower is in benting shape. But, in Dravida style , the central Tower is in the shape of a Pyramid. In Nagara style, the main Factor is Shikara. But, in Dravida style , the main Factor is a Gopura. In Nagara style, the entrance way of the Sreekovil has the individual form of Ganga , Yamuna Rivers. But, in Dravida style , the entrance way has the Dwarapalakas.In Nagara style, the Temple boundary is not important.But, in Dravida style , the Temple boundary is very important. In Nagara style, the Peetads are topper than the Floor.But, in Dravida style , the Peetas are occupied on the Surface of the Floor only.
