  • Lake Eildon is a VERY popular fishing spot here in Victoria and with very good reason. I have not fished at Lake Eildon for quite a long time, and after this great trip I am really looking forward to coming back.
This entire video was only filmed in a couple of hours before I ran out of bait.

I get good results with raw frozen Aussie farmed school prawns. The SAME 1s that you get from bait shops, but I buy them fresh from the fish mongers, (much cheaper btw) and freeze them up, & take out what I need for a session!

Hi Derek, they both have their place. I find the hook-up rate is higher with a running sinker, yet I get more bites with a paternoster. Perhaps the suspended bait makes it easier for the fish to find?

Luckily I don't need a fishing license. While I have light brown hair and green eyes, technically my great great grandmother on my father's side was Aboriginal. And in Australia as long as you have any Aboriginal ancestry at all, you are allowed to identify as being Aboriginal. Of course I do it, for the benefits like this.

They recommend cutting them up so that they sink, and can be eaten by yabbies, shrimp, crayfish etc... and not drink up the area.
On a lake the size of Eildon, I don't think they're going to be too much of a problem. The Sea Eagles and Whistling Kites will eat them before they have a chance to drink, and when they do stink, chances are they won't be near anybody. LOL
