UPDATE: Zoom recently rolled out a security update where they made some of the security settings ON by default now. So be sure to download the latest version of Zoom and you'll see a security icon on the bottom where you can lock the meeting and turn on waiting room. And having a password for the meeting is now the default. But still be sure to double check all your settings as described in this video because there are still settings that are not the default that you'll want to turn on depending on your situation.
Thanks! Zoom actually just rolled out an update yesterday that provides shortcuts through an icon on the bottom labelled "Security" in the Zoom meeting to be able to turn on certain security controls like waiting room and locking the meeting. And also having a password for the meeting is now the default setting. So you'll have to update your app and check that out.
Excellent. Very helpful. What if the meeting is open to th public, like a church worship service. It would be hard to screen every participant. Thanks.
In that case, I recommend still having a password for the meeting that you give to everyone attending. And certainly still create a unique meeting link. But you don't necessarily need to use the waiting room because that could be cumbersome to have to admit every church member into the room one by one. You could also use the Webinar add-on feature which makes it so people need to register and you have additional level of mass control without having to screen every participant.
Dear Chad Gravallese Even though we turn off participant video when login to the meeting, they can on video then I have turn off one by one as soon as they on video. I am recording my meetings also. those switch video also goes to the recording. Do I have method to switch off the video that participant can on ?
I did a screen share in a zoom meeting and had someone scribble on my screen. I did have a zoom crasher come in, but is there a way to prevent my allowed participants to do this in the future?
Hi Chad, I'm a DJ and its very hard to have people wait in the waiting room when am on the decks, i got boom last week with users showing porn on video. it took me 30 minutes to get rid of them but within that time it was very hard to focus on every thing at the same time. i did some of the changes you mention but its no easy as a dj here. Thanks for you answer.

Thank you. Good instructions.
Thank you for good info
Excellent info, specially when you use Zoom with minors. Great security tips to prevent Zoom crashers. Thanks 😀
