The best solution is close contract by yourself and give full refund. That way, they can’t give bad review in your public profile. For it you need to sense when the bad review is come from client side.

Great update for frauds. You order job, even hourly, freelancer works, then you just demand to get 80% refund and threaten to live a non-removable bad feedback oterwise. PROFIT! If freelancer stands his ground, you just leave a reputation-ruin feedback, and wait untill freelancer refunds you 100% just to make your scam feedback invisible. Free labor pool. How are freelancers protected on Upwork against this?

Perfect! I have been on Upwork when it was called Elance and O'desk. I started out competing with an enormous number of freelancers for jobs where the skill set requirements were available to anyone with the ability to watch a two hour tutorial (Photoshop) People don't realize how big a world Upork world is. There is no need to attempt to make your self a big fish in a big pond. Even the little ponds are enormous. Well done.

Sounds very unfair. I hope you can work it out with Upwork. Its really surprising that with so much positive feedback some small project can make such a big dent.

Yes! Even a client we won over with our bid starts to go MIA after a week. Upwork doesn’t have any security measures in place for freelancers, even though we pay for connects now.

I've had an account for a year and a half but didn't start seriously pursuing gigs on there until 6 months ago. I'm at $8000 right now, doing it in my spare time on top of my full-time job. That might not seem like much but I'm in Japan and my rent is $280/month. So, when I get $2000 in a month from Upwork that is life changing money for me over here.

very sad that one large contract is 1,5x only. In real life it is normal for you to say that you are not fit for a job after 1 week of work and another job you work for years. For us working as employee for long period of time and contribute a very large contract that is put down because of other one "week" test job. The platform encourage ppl who jumps in a lot of short job more than someone who is very loyal and stick with a fulltime job

hey just wanted to share with you that as I was looking up if it would be against TOS or not to offer to do work for free on upwork because I didn't want to get in trouble or get my account banned, and I found out it is against the TOS :( just thought you might want to know in case it could get you in trouble for giving out that advice.. or if you wanted to add a disclaimer in there so people don't break a rule unknowingly..
