UK here, i had forgotten this! You can make similar with old fashioned cube jelly & a can of evaporated milk! Let the jelly liquid cool a bit then whisk in the evap. Thank you for reminding me, its delicious.
Mom made a dessert very similar to this recipe. She called it “cherry fluffy”. She mixed the dissolved cherry jello with a tub of cool whip, a can of cherry pie filling and a small can of drained crushed pineapple. Sometimes she added nut pieces to the top. It was absolutely delicious and very easy to make.
FYI: Being diabetic, I tried making this using "sugar free" cherry jello. When I added the cherry jello to the heavy cream, apparently the Aspartame caused the heavy cream to instantly curl. So I bought several boxes of different flavored jello that use sugar as the sweetener. I'll have to adjust my diet on days that I plan to eat this. I recall my mother making something similar to this, but that was 50+ years ago & I forgot all about it. Thank you for posting this! UPDATE: It had to be the Aspartame that caused the heavy cream to curl. I just made it again using orange jello (sweetened with sugar) & it came out great! I put the jello in my refrigerator for 30 minutes to cool before adding to the heavy cream that was in the blender & slightly whipped. I have a Ninja Turbo Blender & I whipped the heavy cream for 30 seconds before adding the cooled jello. The 2 ingredients turned into a whipped cream type mixture after only 10 seconds in the Ninja Blender. I added 5 drops of Orange Oil & that gave it stronger orange taste. I was cautious the cream may turn again from the citric acid from the orange & it's even shown in the ingredients for the jello. But the citric acid had no effect on the cream. The orange jello has a great taste. I'm anxious to try Cherry, Berry Blue, Raspberry & the many other flavors available. It's something different & a great dessert.
I use sugar free jelly and lo fat cream cheese.. in the blender.. then into a bowl in the fridge.. lemon jelly is the most delicious one.. snd sometimes I sprinkle crushed ginger biscuits on top..

My mother made a version of this called “Strawberry Fluff”🍓... she dissolved the smaller sized jello with 1/3 cup of boiling water, when cooled she added almost an entire container of cool whip, and depending on the season, she added either freshly macerated and sweetened strawberries ( 2 cups ) or thawed frozen ones into a large casserole dish, where she’d previously spread chunks of angel food cake into an untreated 9x11 glass dish ... The wet ingredients were poured over the cake, and it was covered and put in the fridge until set! She used the saved cool whip for adding a dollop on top with a strawberry! This can also be made with all sugar free and low fat ingredients and it still tastes good! My sister in law has used raspberries too! I hope you try it😉 PS. Only cut the number of pieces you’re serving at a time and it will stay fresh for several days!

I used to make something similar. One small package of Jello (any flavor), one cup of boiling water to dissolve the Jello and then speed set it with 2 cups of ice cream. I always used vanilla flavored but I imagine that strawberry ice cream would be delightful.
If that's with strawberry jello mix, you have the multitude of flavors to choose from. Cherry jello mix, crushed chocolate cookies, cherry pie filling, with whip cream and black cherries.
My mom has made this for years and my daughter’s favorite. She did 1 package of Jello Pistachio pudding, 1 can of crushed pineapple with the juice, 1 cup of cream…whipped and folded in mini marshmallows.
I've made this a few times now and it's really nice. It's not overly sweet which I like. I've made strawberry a couple times and today i'm trying lemon. Next time i'm going to try mango. I recommend letting the jelly partially set in the fridge for an hour before blending it with the cream. If you blend them while the jelly is still completely liquid, some of it sinks as it sets and a thin layer of jelly (without cream) sets at the bottom of the dish. I like it, but some might not so keep that in mind.
Thanks for the suggestions because I've tried this today and it was partly sel before I added the cream and blended. I'm really first hand at this. As I finished blending , the mixture seems sort of split up and clotted to me. Where have I gone wrong ? What is this recipe called ?
It split... Furthur i tried making rasgulla.. Indian desert.. Rasgullas disappeared in water... I whipped whipping cream first tine in my life.... It was not a flop.. Gonna just eat whipped cream
My mom used to make this back in the 60’s calling it a Bavarian. Sometimes adding fruit like strawberries, depending on what flavor jello she used. Our favorite was lime with crushed pineapple
I’m not sure why all these positive reviews. Beside looking pretty, it tastes awful. Terrible greasy after taste. I would not make it again. Waste of good cream.
I didn’t have strawberry gelatin on hand so I used the orange gelatin instead and it was delicious as well. I’m trying the strawberry one right now. Can’t wait!! It was absolutely delicious and so easy to make. The hardest part was waiting 2 hours to enjoy :)
My mom made something like this... she put it on top of a graham cracker crust, & then she topped it with sliced strawberries & whipped cream. I've read some of the comments, & using cherry or raspberry instead sounds delicious, as well as putting it on angel food cake. 😋
I've made this before but I put in in a gramcraxker crust pie shell and added fruit to it well drained cherries pineapple crushes and mandarin oranges it is a real big hit at family functions too easy to make as well . Just make sure you drain the fruit well or ot won't form right. I'd forgotten about this recipe for along time now glad to remember it again . Going to start making it again . 😋🤝🏼🍽🍥
I used to make this as a low calorie dessert option at Christmas time. It was one of my Mom's favorites. I'd use sugar free Jello and would sometimes blend in fresh berries. To class it up a bit, I'd pour it into parfait glasses and serve as individual desserts.
Someone made a comment of the sugar free Jello, making the cream curdle. So, it worked for you? I have to cut down on sugar ASAP! Love to know how you made it. Thanks.
@@florl.delgado4093 Just as some of the others in the comments below, I used a container of Cool Whip instead of cream. I know there is a sugar free Cool Whip, but never used that to make this recipe, so you'd have to experiment with that.
We made this when I was a girl. You can spoon partially gelled regular Jello into dessert cups and layer it with the cream mixture before chilling. When I made it for my kids, I used half n half instead of cream. It's really good.
In Mexico they used evaporated milk and regular milk as well. Consistency was different depending on which milk you used. Regular milk was a creamy version of the regular jello. While the evaporated milk was thicker and extra creamier. Both ways are delicious! Just depends on what you are feeling or maybe what toy have on hand that day. Thanks for this video reminds me if my childhood -- the good parts.
I used to make this with cherry jello, a can of evaporated milk and pour it into a graham cracker crust, I think the recipe is very old maybe close to 80-90 years old.
I made it yesterday night. With just few changes. I used pineapple jello and layered the top with chopped candied fruits. Pineapple added a slightly tangy flavour which too was delicious!! My younger daughter had 3 servings. THANK U FOR THE ORIGINAL RECIPE👍👏
My mother used to make a version of this with carnation evaporated milk. I loved it. She’d put it in one of those old fashioned ice cube trays but without the cube separator, of course.
My nephew consumed mass quantities of this when I put fresh raspberries in orange mousse My personal favorite has fresh blueberries in raspberry mousse. The version my mum made most often required boiling crushed pineapple, then whipping it with evaporated milk into un-set lemon Jell-O, and serving the resulting mousse in a pre-baked pie crust. (Of course, now we're talking about more than three ingredients.)
I make this all the time. I call it “Mexican jello” .. cuz I can only find it pre made in the Mexican markets. Lately, I notice it in markets that have a dairy section for Mexican cheeses etc . Had it all the time in MX as a kid ❤👏🏼👏🏼
We called this “Strawberry Blancmange”. At every birthday party, a strawberry blancmange, would be on the table. I didn’t like it because it was too sweet. So my mam made me Lemon blancmange which is delicious. Thank you for reminding me of, days gone by. This can be added to any low carb diet merely by using sugar free jelly! Yeh!💕
My mom used to make strawberry or cherry jello - let it set in fridge - and then add some already whipped and sweetened whipped cream. Whip those two together with an electric beater, for maybe 15-20 seconds. It has to stay somewhat "rough" looking, not all smooth or combined. Re-regrigerate up to a few hours if making ahead. I wouldn't suggest overnight, but It may last overnight if Cool Whip was used instead of fresh whipped cream. It was so good just like that. She served it for back yard barbeques as fresh, cool, simple side dish.

Whip whites till stiff 3.whip cream till stiff 4..Melt choc in microwave 1min 45 secs Let it cool somewhat. 5. Then slowly blend yolks into melted chocolate. 6. Blend choc/yolk mixture into whipped cream 7. Blend stiffened egg whites into choc/cream mixture Put into small single serve bowls. Cover with plastic wrap. Put in fridge 24 hrs. Oh, I'd forgotten about this. My mother used to make a version using jello (any flavor works, but we liked orange) and a product called Dream Whip. Yummy!
Thanks mucho for the video!!! My mom used lime Jello and Philly cream cheese. Put in graham cracker pie tin - Cool summer treat that’s neat and not too sweet 😀😅
My Mom used to make a version with fruit blended in. She used apricot jello with apricots and Cool Whip but there was something about using hot water and ice water but not in the amounts it says on the jello box. Wish I could remember.😕 It was really good. She also made it with canned peaches and peach jello.
I remember dream whip too! Bought some at Walmart the other day just for the memory. It comes in envelopes . Asked my mom if she remembered using it in the 1970s .. she didn’t .But then again.. she’s 100 so.. 🤣🤣
Just tried this. Took me a while actually, but wow was it Worth it! I mean a little while in the kitchen. I spilled it and made a second batch. It’s the prefect consistency, thank you so much!
My mum used to make this with a tin of chilled evaporated milk(ideal milk). Beat the milk till very frothy then add the jelly and continue to beat. Because the milk was chilled the jelly sets fast. Put the mixture into a serving dish and allow time to set completely. Delicious. Used pineapple jelly and serve with crushed pineapple or chunks.
I am a 75 yr old New Zealander. My mother used to make this when I was little. It was called Spanish Cream. :D. Interesting to see the other names in different places.
We make this, except instead of heavy whipping crean I use 1 tub of extra creamy cool whip and then pour into a Graham cracker crust and top it with slices of strawberry. Sometimes I add diced strawberries inside the filling as well.
My Nan used to make this as a treat for your birthday. We knew it as fluffy jelly un liverpool, UK it was also known as a milk jelly. The reason it was a treat was the way she made it. If the instructions for the jelly powder called for 1pibt of water, she would use 3/4 of a pint. Once the mix had cooled for 10 min, she would make up the difference with evaporated milk. This was made in a deep glass bowl and would be hand wisked until it thickened and cooled to room temperature. This yltook about 30 min. Then, it was put in the fridge for 2 hours to set. You savoured every mouth full because you knew how much effort she put into making it. At her funeral, all four of us grand kids made a fluffy jelly to her method for the reception afterwards.
Like many others, I'm used to a version of this with evaporated milk. My mom always used lemon jello and a graham cracker crust. We called it Lemon Fluff. It's what I still request for my birthday instead of cake. Mmmmm!
I remember this basic recipe is an oldie but a goodie for pro cooks & the novice. Had a sweet neighbor lady when I was a kid make this with a homemade graham cracker crust. They never had children but they always love having me over to visit. She would add cherries or strawberries on top served with a dollop of whip cream... great childhood memories...😍🥰♥️
My grandma used to make a dessert similar to this except she added cream cheese and poured it into a graham cracker pie crust. It is also good with vanilla wafers used as a crust. She made different variations of this simple dessert depending on what she had on hand. Thank you for sharing this recipe! It brought back memories of my childhood.
We made this with cream cheese, Philadelphia cream cheese , made with strawberry jello… We used the entire cream cheese, package, used a mixer and whipped it up, then poured it into a graham cracker crust ! Added, fresh strawberries on top, chill for Four hours……Makes for a hot summers day dessert, cools you down !! Yum !! 😋. Our guests just loved it …. Also made it with lime, jello as well, topped with chopped nuts …. Also : you can use half a pkg of cream cheese if you prefer…
My mum and grandma used to make this with evaporated milk in the 60’s and 70’s. As a diabetic I used sugar free Hartley jelly granules and 0% Fage Greek yogurt (500g yoghurt to 1 sachet of jelly). The jelly needs to be left til cold but not set, which is more than the time stated.😊
Amazing ✨✨✨ If you add this to a pie crust crumble tins and refrigerate it makes presentation better, and just finishes the dessert with a crunch. Instead of cooling the jello I add it to 1 lb of half thawed frozen strawberries and mash them then add the cool whip or heavy cream whatever you’re using. Once the fluff is complete I refrigerate
My grandma made this for me in the sixties she melted a pint of ice cream she never used cream but I'm going to try it cause I loved it and never forgot it
A version of this has been our family tradition for decades. We call it Bavarian Cream. We layer a plain jello layer on the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Let it set up and then add more jello mixed with whipping cream (like this recipe) but then we also add fruit and or nuts or coconut. Once set up, we top it with whipped cream. We have made it with all flavors of Jello. (Ya, gotta' love jello!)
This looks so yummy! I’m going to make it but will use sugar free jello. My husband is diabetic and still likes a dessert now and then. Thank you for sharing this! 😊
I so remember whipping chill from jello brand. Delicious. And yes. Bring it back. Bring it back. I'm glad i'm not the only one. I was Going To put an comment in here , but i'm glad you're with me.
My mother made a version of this. More ingredients though! Used peach jello, a container of cool whip, make the jello for speed set and allow it to get slightly firm like the above recipe , then fold in the cool whip along with a small jar peach or apricot baby food, a small can crushed pineapple ( well drained , you can use the juice to make the jello, adding enough Water to it to make the required amount), 1/2 c chopped walnuts. Pour into a 8x8 pan and refrigerate until set. She called it a “salad” but definitely more dessert like. It’s delicious but laden with sugar and who knows what else 😉
Does anyone remember the dessert in a box Jello brand called 1-2-3 . Blended when set it had 3 layers the top one foamy the second was half color and half creamy, the bottom was Jello like.
I would be interested also. Maybe goat's milk or goat curd too. Ism trying it with almond milk over Easter so will put up a note about the result. I wish I could find a way to give it a 'sherbet' zing as weller
My Grandpa used to make this for our Saturday night Summer dessert back in the 80s and 90s. Me and the other grandkids would sit outside and eat it on the dock 🍓🌙⭐
@@sumaiyasiraj217 My mother used "cooled in the can" evaporated milk and she whipped it by hand. I think she put the final evaporated milk into the Jello and water mix and whipped and whipped the whole thing like crazy. That way, it was all filled with air bubbles. I have needed this recipe FOREVER. I never knew the correct quantities. Delicious. (No. Whole milk would just make a flat, milky Jello, don't you think?. You need that whipped cream/evaporated milk to thicken the whole thing. I think I'm right. We had no refrigerators in England back then.)
Someone may have mentioned this already, but this recipe with the whipping or heavy whipping cream is an excellent low carb/keto treat (if you use sugar free jello) . Thank you for sharing 😊

I am 76 years old and I have been looking for this recipe all my adulthood and nowhere did I find anything close to it. My mother's friend when I was a little girl made this very thing and put it in a graham cracker pie crust. This has to be the same thing. It looks like it and hers was always made with strawberry jello but I had no clue what to add to it. Thank you so much.
One of my mothers good friend introduced us to this recipe when i was a child. I really loved this dessert back then, and i thought this is what cheesecake is, fast forward to now i have eaten all kinds of good desserts and cheesecakes but the taste of this dessert will always be special to me.
I remember this recipe...a traditional dessert that stood the tests of time and can be varied with any jelly flavour and complimenting fruits. I use half and half coconut cream and ideal milk.
@@rachaelpriyesh7276 Evaporated milk, known in some countries as "unsweetened condensed milk", is a shelf-stable canned cow’s milk product where about 60% of the water has been removed from fresh milk. It differs from sweetened condensed milk, which contains added sugar. Wikipedia
@@daveosburn9227 do try it...it does work but you need to chill it, whip it up to a foamy consistency then gradually stir in the chilled coconut milk. If you omit the coconut milk it should also work. I just find the consistency and taste better using both.
I think in the 60’s jello was used a lot in many desserts. I know my mom would always put fruit in hers like if we had orange jello she would had canned mandarin oranges and bananas. I’m pretty sure I had this version as well. Delicious.
So I made this. Super easy. I added fresh strawberries. I let it set for a while then folded in sliced berries. It was delicious. I guess you can make it with any flavor or fruit
I use Greek yogurt and add canned crushed pineapple (fresh pineapple won’t set in jello) and toasted pecans. I also use pineapple juice as the liquid instead of water. I love doing this with black cherry or peach jello. Lemon or lime, or orange would also be delicious. Sometimes I’ll make a big batch and use a small packet of both black cherry and peach. Sometimes I’ll add a little whipped cream with the Greek yogurt. You can add all sorts of fruit as well. Fresh strawberries, banana, orange, raspberries, blueberries, and cherries. I wouldn’t use a watery fruit like watermelon, honeydew, or cantaloupe. I also don’t know if papaya would set because it has similar enzymes as pineapple. I haven’t tried mango, kiwi, or dragonfruit. You can also add canned cherries, mandarin oranges, fruit cocktail, peaches, pears, etc. Even applesauce. I have never used canned blueberries (they have so much juice and tint everything dark blue and are also very mushy) mango, lychee or mangosteen. You could also do a layered jello dessert by making a layer like this and chill. Then make a layer of transparent jello, then top with whipped cream or half sweetened whipped cream and sour cream for a tangy topping. Or make a fluffy sweetened cream cheese or no bake cheesecake topping. You could also do alternating thin layers of the creamy and translucent or do thin layers of different flavors. Rainbow colors are really pretty. I’ve seen some gorgeous gelatin desserts which have been decorated with different slices of fruit arranged in pretty shapes.
Family favorite, but with more than three ingredients: There's a variation that requires you to boil crushed pineapple, and then whip it together with lemon Jell-O and evaporated milk. The resulting mousse is served in a pre-baked pie crust. I couldn't find my mum's recipe for it, but I found the recipe online a few months ago by searching for "pet milk lemon jello pie", or something similar to that -- in case it sounds interesting to you.
I make something that's pretty much like that, but instead of the heavy whipping cream, which I can't have because of the lactose, I substitute with cool whip, which tastes really great, and I cut strawberries and put them on top. I will sometimes put Graham crackers on the bottom as a layer, extra interesting taste to it!
My mom made this back in the 60s and 70s. If you only add 1 cup of boiling water to the Jello then add a cup of ice it will cool it down much faster and to make it easier use a regular size container of Cool Whip, easy peasy no fuss no muss. Sets up pretty fast. If you want to get fancy layer it in a parfait glass with fresh fruit.

My mom has made this for years and my daughter’s favorite. She did 1 package of Jello Pistachio pudding, 1 can of crushed pineapple with the juice, 1 cup of cream…whipped and folded in mini marshmallows.

That's Watergate salad! It's been years since I've had it. I'm salivating over the memories. Yumm!
My mom made me the exact same thing as a little girl! It's so yummy and brings back memories 😂❤
My mom made this in the 50's and 60's. I believe she used cool whip, or the powdered whipped cream they still sell today. Delicious and light.
It was Dream Whip . It was a powder mix you mixed with cold milk and whipped like cream.
@@rebeccaenlow7395. We used cool whip at my home growing up.

Great idea!
Yep, all this came right off the jello box - called the no-bake pie, I think! 😊
Oh I’ve been doing this but substituting Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream (less calories lol and it’s still yummy) but yah it’s an awesome idea!
Yogurt won’t fluff up like whipping cream.
It even works with low fat fruit yogurt.
So do i use yogurt it lovely

I didn’t have strawberry gelatin on hand so I used the orange gelatin instead and it was delicious as well. I’m trying the strawberry one right now. Can’t wait!! It was absolutely delicious and so easy to make. The hardest part was waiting 2 hours to enjoy :)
I add fresh raspberries to the orange mousse. Just fold in whole, cleaned berries after all the whipping is done.

Do you use the small box or large box of jello? Thanks!
My mom made something like this... she put it on top of a graham cracker crust, & then she topped it with sliced strawberries & whipped cream.
I've read some of the comments, & using cherry or raspberry instead sounds delicious, as well as putting it on angel food cake. 😋
Ooooh I did not think of that!!!

My grandma used to do this and she would layer it in fancy milkshake glasses.
Sounds like evaporated milk would taste awful. Whipped cream sounds better or cool whip.
@@prettypumpkin2314 I use it on my oatmeal or cream of wheat when out of cream.
Here in Derbyshire in England we call this Milk Jelly and make it with a can of evaporated milk instead of the cream. It’s delicious 😋
I used to make this with cherry jello, a can of evaporated milk and pour it into a graham cracker crust, I think the recipe is very old maybe close to 80-90 years old.

Hi Sandra 👋 I'm also in Derbyshire
I made it yesterday night. With just few changes. I used pineapple jello and layered the top with chopped candied fruits. Pineapple added a slightly tangy flavour which too was delicious!! My younger daughter had 3 servings. THANK U FOR THE ORIGINAL RECIPE👍👏
Did you use the small box or large box of jello?
My mother used to make a version of this with carnation evaporated milk. I loved it. She’d put it in one of those old fashioned ice cube trays but without the cube separator, of course.
Thanks everyone for all the ideas. I'm definitely trying one of the recipes I see on here. They all sound delicious
Me too. So many ways to make with everyone giving their versions. Easy to make too.
Yeh!💕
Been making this for 55 yrs without a blender, but in recent yrs not so much. Thanks for the reminder. I love it and put ingredients on my list.
She
served it for back yard barbeques as fresh, cool, simple side dish.
It's the texture that appeals to me. Like a mousse and so simple. ( And fattening no doubt). Yum!!!!!!
It is a mouse
You can try using yoghurt. full fat milk or evaporated milk it will be a little less fattening than the creme.
Use sugar free jello and fat free evaporated milk for a healthier version.

We make this, except instead of heavy whipping crean I use 1 tub of extra creamy cool whip and then pour into a Graham cracker crust and top it with slices of strawberry. Sometimes I add diced strawberries inside the filling as well.
Hello how much cool whip do you add and do you blend it in the blender all together?
Oh my, that sounds so good!
We always added crushed pineapple and poured it in a graham cracker crust, it’s yum
That’s how my grandmother always made it
Cool whip is whipped vegetable oil.

Amazing ✨✨✨
If you add this to a pie crust crumble tins and refrigerate it makes presentation better, and just finishes the dessert with a crunch. Let it set up and then add more jello mixed with whipping cream (like this recipe) but then we also add fruit and or nuts or coconut. Once set up, we top it with whipped cream.
I'd always heard that pineapple makes jello not set? Is it different for this recipe because it also has the cool whip or dairy?

(No. Whole milk would just make a flat, milky Jello, don't you think?. You need that whipped cream/evaporated milk to thicken the whole thing. I think I'm right. We had no refrigerators in England back then.)
Blend with cream cheese next time and it’ll come out stiffer. I make mine out of cream cheese, gelatin, strawberries, and sugar 😋

I must try this now!!!!
I have cream and jello yay!!! Oh and thank you ❤️
I use Greek yogurt and add canned crushed pineapple (fresh pineapple won’t set in jello) and toasted pecans.
Yup. Possibilities are endless...and as exotic as you want to make them. Thx for sharing. I am mixing with yoghurt cream cheese to make a cheese cake.
Do we have to warm the juice too to dissolve the gelatin ?

My mom made this back in the 60s and 70s.
