For ppl who can't measure weight
Half cup of butter
Half+ 1.5 tablespoons of flour
1 liter milk
3/4 cup of sugar
One teaspoon of vanilla
One tablespoon of corn starch
1/4 cup of water
I made it this way and it turned out amazing
Warm milk or cold milk?
Thank you
Wheat flour or refined flour?
@Sotiris Christou pretty sure it is half a cup
@Sotiris Christou I think they meant to say half a cup and 1.5 tablespoon but I may be wrong
For people who only want to make half of the recipe:
50 grams butter
1/4 cup flour + 1 tablespoons of flour
500 ml of milk
6 tablespoons of sugar
half teaspoon vanilla
half tablespoon of cornstarch
two tablespoons of water
Thankss!
No 70 g flour
Half of 120 is 60 so it SHOULD be 60 grams of flour which is a half cup. I dont know where you got this other wierd ampunt from but its wrong. She started with 120 g of flour so half that is obvi 60 grams and if u google 60 g into cups it comes up as a half cup, nothing more.
Yea its suppossed 2 be 60g of flour for a half recipe which is a half cup...not a 1/4 cup plus a tspoon or watever the OP put.
UHG ONCE AGAIN I CANT REPLY 2 ANYONES REPLY COMMENTS, ONLY THE ORIGINAL COMMENT! MY 1 comment on this post was suppossed 2 go to the person with the K name who said "no, 70 g"
Very realistic cooking. Not with all that presentation/showman ship other cook vloggers do. I feel like im at home cooking with a sister or something. Love this

That's true, that's what I liked about this too
I like it too. It's so casual and surprisingly it feels like at home 😊
Exactement ! J'ai pensé la même chose
Absolutely ! I thought the exact same

This is seriously the most delicious dessert I have ever eaten, I can’t believe this. The best recipe I have ever tried in the entirety of various dish type recipes
There's something so soothing about cooking videos where people don't keep talking non-stop and don't add an irritating background music. The sound of meal prep itself is calming.
Nice recipe btw 👍
The visual is nice too!
it's ASMR sound effects 😇😊
Music choice is subjective though, I prefer none.
Yes. I totally agree with you. There is hundred of cooking video of street food all over the world on youtube. With no music, no talks. Just the sound of cooking. Its so relaxing.
Super
This is called "blanc mangé" in Québec. Served at school cafeterias and retirement homes. It was popular in the 1920s-1960s. You don't find it as much anymore. Strange cause it's sooo good. It's usually served plain white,
Uk. Blancmange was very popular when I was young (I’m ancient). It was basically flavoured custard, eg strawberry or chocolate, and often used as a layer on trifles. But it seems to have vanished. I especially checked my local supermarket yesterday. Sad really.
I thought my man was just making ingredients up 😂😂😂
@@czeshirecat6278 I know right! It was a childhood favourite and you have to make it just right now to replicate it.
@@czeshirecat6278 Oh noooo such traditions should not disappear 😭 is it because of industrialization in "developed " countries ?
@@czeshirecat6278 Another ancient person here - I remember blancmange powder too in the UK, didn't Brown & Poulson make it? it seemed to die off when Bird's Instant Whip took it's place.
Here are the written instructions
Ingredients
100 gr unsalted butter
120 gr of wheat flour
1 liter of milk
170 gr of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
300 ml of water
Melt butter in a pot until bubbling, add flour and whisk together until you get a paste like consistency. Gradually add milk, whisking after every addition. Once that is done mixing into a combined mixture add 80 ml of sugar, then add vanilla extract, cook until cream thickens. Let the cream cool before putting it into your bowl/glass pan. Chill for 30 minutes. Now make a mixture of 200 ml of water and cornstarch, set aside. Place 90 gr of sugar into a pan on low heat until it becomes caramel, add 100 ml of water to your caramel, mix (be careful it will bubble and pop), now add in your other mixture of cornstarch and water, mix until it is well combined. Cook until the caramel thickens. Pour it over the chilled milk mixture. Chill for 30 minutes and enjoy!
Thank you so much!😄
GRACIAS!!
Was kann man an Stelle von Maisstärke nehmen?
Some lemon and orange zest would be nice in the caramel!

I tried this yesterday, the taste was AMAZING, yesterday was my mom's birthday and my mom really liked it, i did this without adult supervision as well, turned out amazing, but the only mistake i did was, i added too much milk which resulted it a thinner pudding, but it was tasty anyway, i made everything with half ingredients, cause I didn't needed it too big, my younger sister requested me to make this one more time, so the next time i make this, i will add 1 tsp cornstarch in the cream, hehe thank u soo much for this delicious recipe.
P.s for those who were asking if they could skip the vanilla extract, u can only skip it if u use all purpose flour (aka maida) if u r using wheat flour and not adding extract it will taste like tortilla (Roti) and yes i am indian lol
Nice thanks for the heads up ( I am also Indian and yes this is my real name lol)
@Karl Wilhelm ew a hater
Next if you want it to be thicker then you can boil it more, cause the more you boil it the thicker it gets
Might be a weird comment but I love how realistic this recipe is and looks. It's not like those picturesque food bloggers; I feel like I can pick up my pot and make it -- definitely adding this to my recipes (maybe will update if I make it)

When I was a little girl, my mom would cook the caramel as desert for us, adding some walnuts. You reminded me of my childhood memories. Great recipe ❤
Updating: I have just made it and tried this desert and guess what...it's really delicious!! The caramel was a bit too bitter so I added a lemon juice into it. Divine!!
You must have cooked the sugar too long. It gets bitter.
I got a tip 😉thanks
Thank you ♥
What kind of flour is used in this ? Normal wheat flour or all purpose flour
If it's bitter that means you have overcooked the sugar. It caramelized very quickly. That was my mistake. Carefully follow the instruction and look at the consistency in the video. I will try mine again.
This video had me cooking at midnight after a night of drinks.😂 The first batch of caramel was a no go, so I had to re do it. Second batch turned out better and after cooling I seriously couldn’t believe how awesome it was. Thanks 👍🏻💥🎆

The splash at 1:04 is my fave part. Cooking and baking tutorials tend a bit too perfect, everything is staged/cut so you tend to forget that when you cook, usually (or at least I do) you make a hell of mess, and that's the fun part^^

I love this video because it remind me of one of those satisfying videos. All the sounds and the sights of the cooking was very relaxing. Even when she spilled out some of the cream onto the stove it didn't matter if it messed it up or not it was just part of cooking. Great video.
yes agree. Some of the other ones have music on them or in the background.
This type of cream caramel/flan is very famous in my country but we didn't use cornstarch in the caramel. We usually just use cornstarch in the milk mixture or just use custard powder if you wanna make it feels like you use eggs in your pudding. This recipe is familiar yet different hence it piqued my interest. Made a batch last night and just had a taste. It seriously taste the same just like how we use to make with cornstarch/custard powder just that the process shown in this video is more tedious. Do make sure to cook the flour well or it will taste weird and gritty. I feel like this method is time consuming compared to my normal method but i guess it caters to those who dont have excess to cornstarch and custard flour. The addition of starch slurry in the caramel is also interesting. All in all, had fun trying your way of making this
How do you make it with the custard?

Thank you, Mama used to make it for me when I was little, thank you for letting me remember it. I love you 🌹💗😘
Hello
I like how this recipe doesn't rely on cream cheese.
Honestly, I think it depends on your dietary situation. For instance: those looking out for their total carb intake, cream cheese is the better option as the amount of cornstarch used along with the sugar adds to the carb count. However, cream cheese has very little carb, and with some tweaks to the recipe can yield similar results. This is a game changer for those of us who must follow a low carb lifestyle (eg. diabetics).
And no eggs. So simple!
My concern are the raw eggs!
The beauty of this video is it makes us feel at home
