Underrated actress
Her and Bron.. Jerome are ex's. Why you Never see them in a scene together. Toxic relationship apparently. And I really liked him too. Soldier soldier was amazing. Oh well. They're only human and not perfect,like we'd like to imagine them.
She has killed the performance throughout!! One of the best actresses playing one of the most hated character.

I think alot of the credit also goes to the body double, without her they couldn't have done it. There are actually articles about her, about how she broke down crying filming these scenes because it actually felt real to her. She was actually naked, being yelled at and having stuff thrown at.

Cersei’s hair is described as golden and beautiful. By cutting it all off, it’s like taking away her “golden crown” in a way. They’ve taken her “lion’s mane”, destroyed something that once made her beautiful so everyone can see her as she is. She has nowhere to hide basically
yes! and i also think its to show that she can't protect herself with the golden crown.. or her body with her hair!
I feel it was also to take away parts of her womanhood. The whole walk along with the insults hurled at her, nothing short of misogyny.

There's been the story of Kit dodging a speeding ticket for telling the police officer if he's dead or not.
I was so upset when this season ended. I have the books too but hadn't read them yet because I didn't want any show spoilers, but when this episode ended I went to my books and they had ended basically the same way, I was so upset
I literally hate Cersei with every fiber of my being but I kinda felt bad for her during that “walk of shame”…🙈🥴

The problem is that Cersei deserves a walk of atonement for literally any other reason but because she's shagging her brother. They literally punished her for the wrong thing. She deserves the walk for other things like giving orders to kill innocent ppl, committing war crimes, starving the city etc.
Varys really isn’t untrustworthy once you understand his motives. You just have to understand he’s willing to sacrifice anyone and anything for the good of the realm, including himself. And he’s always very upfront about that.
He's actually upfront to the fact that he is not willing to sacrifice himself.
S2 with tyrion he tells him he thrives in survival. (Said something to the effect of, throw me in with the fishes, and I survive all the same).
In s1 he tells ned he'd do nothing to help him because he isn't a fighter. Even though saving ned in that moment would've been better for the realm, he didn't. Because he valued his life more.
Varys wants what he deems the best for the realm, but that isn't synonymous with personal sacrifice.
@@badgaltinginnit that's cause the show started to divert from the books after season 3/4 so Varys' motivations in the show were quite clear-cut and narrowed down to "serving the realm" whereas in the book this motive is a front for Varys but you understand that he has way more personal motivations than the good of the realm
@@badgaltinginnit i always took that as him understanding he had more to offer the realm by surviving and not believing a personal sacrifice would be worth it. I just don’t equate a strong survival instinct with being unwilling to sacrifice one’s self. I can’t reference my examples because they haven’t happened yet.

but seriously, Jon’s death had all GoT fans in a chokehold for a YEAR back in 2015-2016. Like we didn’t know where the show was gonna go after this. Like this is where GRRM stopped writing the books, and the show runners took over writing for the show.
But RIP Jon Snow. And now, his watch has ended.

I love that it is Brienne, a woman, who confronts Stannis. Stannis killed Shireen - Jaquen tells Arya that a girl has taken a life that was not hers to take. Stannis did too, and the Mother protects children like Shireen. I like to think Brienne is unwittingly the vengeful hand of the Mother here, and hey, if she killed Stannis, perhaps Stannis would even welcome that "mercy". Like you said, he's got nothing left.

@@girlnettles Thank you! I've no idea how much they intended or not, but I think it perfect that it was Brienne, even though it was for her own reasons. And Shireen mentioned reading about the Seven, (Melisandre tells her it is all lies), and never seemed keen on the Lord of Light. I can see the Mother being angered at the murder of an innocent girl, especially one who perhaps followed her.
Plus Shireen's scream as she died. _Mother..._

Cersei is awful and deserves to get her karma. What bothers me most about this scene, and the reason it is so painful is because the hypocrisy is just rampant. The High Sparrow and Septa Unella take SO much joy in this, and it really just reminds me of Joffrey pulling the wings off of butterflies. They aren't doing it because she deserves it, they're doing it because they love it, and that just makes them awful, too.

She doesn't deserve this though, nobody does. Sexual violence is not OK as a punishment. Cersei deserves punishment, just not this.

I think part of the reason why Cersei's walk is so hard to watch is because it makes you feel bad for someone you hate 😂
Sort of similar to watching Theon's torture over time. At first you think "yeah, this is what you get" but by thte end you just want it to be over and you feel bad for them.

@@justbeyondmythoughts Also that would have been almost just as humiliating for Lena Headey. It's one thing to show at little nudity when filming, but going full frontal for that long on such a widespread and popular TV show, especially in the scene's context, would have been horrible for her. Imagine doing that in front of all your colleagues and friends, on TV for everyone you know and everyone you could potentially work with in the future to see. I'm sure it was so difficult for the body double too, but at least her face wasn't on TV and she wouldn't have to continue to work with the cast and crew, so there's a certain amount of anonymity for her.

While karmically, Cersei's walk of shame is satisfying, for the charges they managed to pin on her, she REALLY didn't deserve what she got and it just felt very emblematic of the misogyny in this world exacerbated by extremism of religion.
Right. Nobody deserves that, it's a form of sexual violence, and very misogynistic.
They did it on a smaller scale on the previous High Septon too in an earlier episode (at least in the show, I'm not sure in the books).

The walk of shame felt bad because although Cersei is a horrible person who has done horrible things, it didn't really feel like justice. It just felt like a sick and twisted way to fufil their own sick and twisted desires and feeling superior and also just felt inherently misogynistic

With Jons death the books and the source material is ending. We are currently waiting for George RR Martin to continue with the books. He is writing winds of winter atm. So season 6-8 is basically mostly the screen writers own adaptation of the books and this is how they imagine should continue and end the song of ice and fire…
GRRM has been writing winds of winter for like 10 years I don’t know if it will ever get finished😭 one could only hope

After a long while I realized why I felt bad for cersie in this moment. I have no sympathy for her in general but reading a newspaper article talking about how forcing citizen POWs to walk naked was a form of sexual assault/torture it clicked. That's what this was. Sexual assault, sanctioned by the ever delivering religious sector, witnessed from beginning to end.
Ive watched all your season 5 got reactions while drinking a glass of wine and its a blast :) Most reactors annoy me because of their commentary but for me you found the perfect balance between your reaction, your comments and portraying clips from the show. Plus, all the other stuff that were left open in that book. And we have been waiting for the next book ever since... I like how reading about the walk of shame puts you inside Cersei's head. You can see how she's gradually breaking during it, and the only thing that keeps her going is her son in the Red Keep. I loved reading it, seeing it induces less emotion by comparison.

When I was watching the John scene I wasn't going to watch anymore but my friend told me to keep watching.
Lena Heady really killed it with her perfomance as Cersei. Not only in this particular scene - she's done an outstanding job throughout the lifespan of this character. I really hated Cersei, I loved to hate Cersei. But I also felt for Cersei, especially in this moment. I also understood her motivations and and genuenly feel for her in these shitty moments.
It's like Jack Gleeson's portrail of Joffrey: I hated him, I hated him so much I could punch the screen when he was on it. And that's mad skill. Gleeson, Heady - amazing performances in this series.
