- Hey guys, I'm back with another video!! So, in today's video I decided to sit down and watch Stranger Things for the very first time!! As I'm sure most of you are aware Season 4 recently came out, and that made me realise that I never watched the other seasons that are so popular. So in today's video we are watching the first half of the first season and this is hands down my longest video to date... so grab a snack and enjoy! xo

The first time I tried to watch season 1, I gave up as soon as we saw the demagorgon. Had to come back to it a year later lol. So glad I did tho cos it's been my favourite show ever since.

Miliie got her first Emmy nomination for this, so well deserved. Youngest actress ever. But so brilliant. The way she screamed in that hallway while been taken away just haunts me.
yahh but youngest actress ever? lol not even close... countless have started shortly after birth... not even the youngest in ST... the ones who play Holly (Anniston and Tinsley Price) had recently turned 3 when they started in season 1 (and were Judith Grimes in The Walking Dead and toddler Perfexia in Allegiant before that), and Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) was a week away from turning 11... and Millie 11 ½ish

I was about their age in the 80’s and lived in a small town; the series really does a good job setting the tone. Once kids were old enough to ride a bike, we were basically unsupervised most of the time; it’s amazing we survived some of the stupid things we did.
The language stuff is pretty accurate, it’s good to see how far we have come (most of us).
Have fun with the rest of the series.
No cell phones, no gps, no helicopter parents, and basically our parents never knew where we were. I grew up in the late 70’s into the early 80’s. I think we were lucky. It certainly gave us the opportunity to figure things out for ourselves.
I grew up in the 90s and I think I just had irresponsible parents cause most of my childhood was spent outside at night on bikes lol

@@laurakali6522 I mean I think I ultimately benefited from it - though I could have probably used a curfew or a sign of some interest in my well being. But I do understand the paranoia around it now. I have friends raising children and it's just a completely different world. It's hard to find the right balance.
Sounds so much fun! In the early 2000s it was the same for many. I remember in elementary we were able to hang out with neighborhood kids outside with no supervision..Riding our bikes and running around. Surprisingly we were still so innocent so no funny business haha. But now times have changed drastically!!! Can’t trust anyone or anything 😭 It’s terrifying

I have to say, Millie is definitely a stand out for me. She's so consistently good throughout the whole series. It's just so impressive how she portrayed El in s1 with barely any lines. She is great at telling a story with just her eyes and face. That's extremely hard to do.. especially at that age. Didn't surprise me that she got herself an Emmy nomination for that performance
The fact that Steve is one of the best characters though and Brad doesn’t trust him is comedic gold To me

The show dances around horror until season 4 which is straight up brutal. Also, Winona KILLED this role.
Maybe it's just me but I always thought that season 1 was the scariest and everything else was just kind of suspenseful and not scary after that

“Is this horror” made me actually laugh out loud. It really fucking is, especially gd season 4. But I recently showed S1 Ep1 to my 10yr old niece and she was totally fine lol, so I think I’m just a big baby pretty much bc when I saw season 1 I was so scared I had to keep pausing it lmao.
I started watching it in like 4th grade, but I've always been relatively unaffected by gore so idk

yeahhh I mean, about the language they use: since this takes place in the 80s (1983 I think?) the 'outdated' language is intentional on their part. that's just how people spoke back then, and they do sooo much with the series to make it as authentic to the 80s as possible with the sets and clothes and props and everything, so dialogue would be included in that as well
Season 1 is basically a full blown Comedy compared to the Horror that is heading your way lol

I have never went from hating to loving a character so quick. Steve will grow on you :)
i think one thing about stranger things that you're gonna love is that the humor is really good and it compliments the horror elements, so it makes them not as scary ??? idk, i usually hate horror shows and movies. but as a "scary" show, i don't find myself having nightmares from it, and i think that's because it feels light ?? and it's the type of show that makes u theorize instead of being scared of whats the next unnecessary and scary thing thats gonna happen
after being in the stranger things fandom since 2016 hearing the words "I don't like this man" when referring to hopper just gave me whiplash
Watch the entire series Brad. You will not be disappointed. It just gets better and better by each passing season. The story expands. It's a crazy journey for sure and as you saw, the story moves along quickly and gets straight to the point. And it's only a few episodes each season. If you keep reacting at this pace, dude you'll probably end up doing 8 episodes for the entire series if you watch 4 episodes in one video reaction. Which is pretty cool.

I am so incredibly impressed by every aspect of this show. The Duffers are a couple of geniuses bringing their vision to life. The 80's vibe, the music, cinematography, character development and of course the acting. Such an unbelievably talented cast of people. So lovable both on and off screen. This show in my opinion only gets better and better as the seasons go on :) I love the fact that everyone goes into it with little to no real expectations because it's just "a show about kids fighting monsters". Little do they know the emotional roller coaster they're in for haha
10:54 - 11:02 cracked me up "Well, I'd say so, Wouldn't you? We find a kids bike, in the woods, on it's own, no kid attached and you don't think there's an issue🙄."

Great reaction! FYI I'm 52, so I'm pretty much exactly the same age as these kids (and played D&D in my basement!)...
Regarding the acceptance (or lack thereof) of someone being gay back then, this show hits it very well. It was so bad that I had a friend (pretty good friend) who was bisexual, and he didn't say anything about it (to me or anyone in our "friend group") until he was in his 30's (so in the early 2000's sometime). It was definitely not easy to come out, especially in a tiny U.S. Midwest town in Indiana like the one in the show.
I hadn’t seen any stranger things until recently; I always thought I would be too scared. Then a couple days ago I watched season 1 and loved it! So now I’m watching your reactions as I watch the show for the first time too 😄
