I think a good mindset for making art and staying motivated is just remembering art will always have a “ugly phase”. If the piece you’re working on made you excited thinking about creating it or if you look at it and still feel strongly about wanting it to be how you imagined it to be DON’T GIVE UP ON IT. Take a break, put it down for a little while, do some studies, drink some tea, watch your favorite movie. Making art is like solving a puzzle and sometimes the solutions don’t always present themselves immediately. It’s trial and error so don’t give up!! Just take a break, gather up energy and dive back in ❤️
The fact that Studio Ghibli and imawonder literally suit each other. This is really making my day, thank you so much Queen!Just do you like alway!Love 🇵🇭
Im actually impatient, i always get frustrated and easily give up on my artworks whenever it gets to the "ugly phase". But when i start watching your videos, i started to get this mindset of "never stop creating even if it looks ugly" and with that, i can really see my improvements :))💕
If it's Coraline, I will truly squee. I'm so glad to hear even great artists wonder if their works are going to turn out! Sometimes I'm grateful to feel stingy with art supplies as it makes me want to NEVER bail on a project for the pain of wasting supplies, it's definitely helped me get over many humps that I otherwise would have bailed on!
When you took the yellow out of the background I litysaid out loud “ girllll! Yesssssssssss! “ I was to excited to see such a big difference after you did that. Love it and your work and your process even if you think it’s chaotic.
I really like your illustrations of kiki’s delivery service. I am happy that although you didn’t like your illustrations at first you kept going. We learn from mistakes and we can have fun with art. It’s good that you realize that :) way to go! Btw: I am in love with your My hero academia t shirt ❤️
i really liked porco rosso too!! it has such a european cinema influence through a japanese lens to the aesthetic and even the film angles and everything. super cool perspective. i also struggle with some painting processes where it just feels so stressful and therefore not enjoyable. even some pieces that are going well, and i'm in the flow, it's just kind of tense and stressful. i want to be looser as all artists say but when i do that it just looks ugly... i enjoy playing with colour and texture but the process is so stressful sometimes
Yes!! That’s such a good observation in the movie! Oh man I totally feel you on that - I also wish to be a bit looser in my paintings but old habits die hard I guess haha
You're my one of favorite artist to watch on youtube so far aside of James Gurney. Thank you so much for giving us tips, and share your struggles so we don't feel alone.
It’s 7am here (france) and I’m drinking my coffee with your video. This is the best way to start a new day. I discovered you on YT few weeks ago and I am totally addicted. I watch your videos everyday, it helps me a lot to feel fine and inspired. I truly thank you because it’s so important ! Your art is beautiful and I love to listening you. I wish you a lot of inspiration in return. 💜💜💜💜💜 I will draw again and I thank you for that. 🌸🤍💜✌🏻
I definitely feel you when you say you didn't really know what you were doing! Everytime I paint with gouache I go from "I'm such an idiot" to "Whoa do I actually know what I'm doing?😳" I think that's one of my favorite parts of painting though. I've been using watercolod for years longer than I've been using gouache and I still have that "Oh no no no" feeling in the beginning of every painting
YES absolutely! There's been so many times when I reach the ending of the painting and wonder to myself "how did I do this?" haha xD But you're right, it's one of the most rewarding things about painting and trusting the process!
I love how humble and transparent you are about your illustrations. I'm definitely one of those people who sometimes struggle with motivation, especially when an illustration is being tricky or doesn't turn out quite the way I planned. Hearing you talk about it, while it's things we should know like videos are edited and such but sometimes it's very easy to forget and then you get bogged down by unrealistic expectations. I loved the yellow accents in the clouds originally but wow the pastel clouds really sing. I'd love to hear more about how you blend or make flesh colours for your illustrations in future videos because that can be really hard :) Happy painting!
So cool to see this process. I never would have guessed you struggled with this piece when I saw it on IG, so I'm happy you touched upon that and didn't give up! I also noticed this when editing my videos; as you speed things up and cut out a lot of hesitation it looks to go smoother than it was in reality. Also now I'm hungry 😂🌸
I used to paint probably everyday when i was a kid, then school and dreams made me basically stop. Now that I have made my dream come true, i was totally lost. But seeing your videos just reminds me of my youngers years and how this might be is what I should be doing from now on (i believe were about rhe same age actually)
Hey Tina! This was really lovely to watch and listen to, and I really enjoyed hearing your observations on the struggles of painting! It's really not as easy or we're not as confident as our videos look sometimes and I liked the honesty about that. This piece is really beautiful
I love the colors in this painting so much! It came out so beautiful. Also digging your Halloween aesthetic at the end, you pull off dramatic makeup looks like an absolute boss!
Hahaha. I'm sitting here listening to you talk about how watercolors are a little easier to get a soft blend with - and I've disliked water colors for a long time, because im not patient enough to wait for the stuff to dry, to layer - and they just don't build well? So then I tried acrylic, and while I do like them, I need something a smidge more blendable. I'm finally at acryla gouache, and the middle of my art/college education... it's such a nice happy medium between watercolor over-transparency, and acrylic-WENOMOVEEVER mediums. LOL
What a beautiful piece. I keep forgetting to watch Kiki's Delivery Service and the other Studio Ghibli movies. Even though I haven't watched any of the movies yet, I do have a bit of merch that I got from Hot Topic. Gouache is one of my favorite mediums. I used gouache a lot when I took an Illustration class. I just love the look it gives where it's nice and smooth.
Super cute. I love Halloween period too and your illustration inspired me a lot ! I like your work and your inspiration. I don't really like Kiki's Delivery Service movies but I like the characters designs. I like your gouache work you have a good technique.
This is so adorable! I love the color theme! I’ve never painted with gouache I just got back into my copic art but I’m definitely going to try these next!
The purple clouds are so beautiful! 💜I love your art so much, you are one of my favorite artists! 🥺🥺 I also just finished binge watching your videos haha!
Loooove putting your videos on as I paint, you always talk about super fun stuff! Regarding ghibli films, I feel like the later ones (ponyo and onward) mostly didn't hit me the same way the ones prior to that did. I wondered if it was because I was a teen the first time I watched most of them but even rewatching the older ones as an adult, I can say that's not the case. One newer one that I did love though was The Tale of Princess Kaguya. If you haven't watched that one, I'd highly recommend it! I don't wanna say much about how I felt but overall I loved the flow, themes, and art style of that movie.
Thank you so much for saying that I am really glad that your enjoy my videos!! I love that I can accompany you while you paint too! I totally agree with you about the newer films just not having quite the same impact for me too. But yes The Tale of Princess Kaguya is absolutely beautiful!! I adored the animation style 💖
This is just amazing, I have now ordered my first print and stickers from your shop 💛✨ cannot wait you get it! Thank you for sharing and inspiring others through your work xx
I love this piece so much!! It looks amazing and i love the guessing game!! Going 2-2 lol Coraline seems to be a popular guess lol so just to be safe Coraline! and i really can't think of anything else 😔
This is beautifully painted ..Yes it’s hard doing a tutorial ..Things that you feel natural doing is something another would find so hard to do..I feel annoyed when people want to be taught to paint ,draw like someone..You have your own style and it’s something you need to develop not copy an artists work..I find if I am struggling I get inspirations as in how to blend ,how to do this or that ..That’s what you need to do not copy one style..So it is so hard for an artist in some cases to show and hard to copy some of the complicated things they do..So Don’t ask to be taught ,just learn and create your own stile is what I would always tell people 😀
Totally agree! Going through the the trial and errors on your own make such a huge difference in the learning process and discovering your own style and voice as an artist :)
I saw that they made a new Sailor Moon and it's sooo good. I'd love to see you doing a screencap on it, it's called Sailor Moon Crystal. Btw, this is really pretty 💖
I saw NerdeCrafter recommend Bokksu and I already ordered a subscription. I'm glad I did because I'm enjoying so far all the snacks I tried and it feels like I get to try a part of Japan (a dream trip) without actually having to travel. The cheese biscuit you showed, I was wondering if it would taste weird since it's a combination I haven't heard of before: pear, cheese, and white chocolate in a biscuit. It was really good!
I think I remember porco rosso. When I was a kid this channel that had a month of miyazaki movies so every Thursday would be a new movie I hadn't seen! I'll need to watch it again to see if it was good cause I dont remember what it was about 🤣 is your next piece gonna be Coraline?
This is really amazing. I tried following through but sadly, I don't have skills like yours :( I really wanna be this good someday. Would love to see more!

Yaaaay I’m so glad I can help with that!! It’s difficult to push through those ugly stages but it’s worth it!
the colours you chose for this piece creates such a strong aura, and i love it!
Thanks so much!! 💖
oooooo is it coraline??? omg i cant wait

Ooh yes that's a good way to look at it too haha! It does seem like such a shame to a have good art supplies go to waste!
YES THIS NOTIF MADE MY DAY
My guess for next weeks video is *Rapunzel* ! I am not 100% sure that is it, but that is what came to mind first :)
When you took the yellow out of the background I litysaid out loud “ girllll! Yesssssssssss! “ I was to excited to see such a big difference after you did that. Love it and your work and your process even if you think it’s chaotic.
Its nighttime in my corner of the world and I’m so glad I caught this before sleeping. So calming and magical!
Awww thank you!! Sweet dreams!!
that's all you had to say for the next piece i swear, from what I heard and from what I have seen my guess is ✨Coraline✨
I really like your illustrations of kiki’s delivery service. I am happy that although you didn’t like your illustrations at first you kept going. We learn from mistakes and we can have fun with art. It’s good that you realize that :) way to go!

I have a favourite art supply video up from a few months ago :)
This is so great. It does look easy. I'm glad you shared the highs and lows. I quit art once a week.
I love the colors in this painting so much! It came out so beautiful. Also digging your Halloween aesthetic at the end, you pull off dramatic makeup looks like an absolute boss!

You should seriously be an art teacher, maybe not tutorials like you say but you give really good tips 💕

Soooooo this channel has gotten me to buy water soluable gauche, thanks man I’ve been artistically ✨inspired✨
Yes, we love your Halloween aesthetic 😍
I want to get some of the artbooks. I love artbooks.
If you can’t open the tube of gouache cut it open and put in in a container it still works since it is water soluble (same with watercolor)
ahh its so encouraging and inspiring seeing you pull through paintings it has really helped me do the same!!
I’m so glad!! Keep at it! 🔥🔥

which colors of gouache did you use? the piece is gorgeous!!
Mainly primaries (yellow, blue and red) plus white and a colour called “flesh tint” I hate the name but it’s like a peachy colour. And thank you!! 💖

I adore the puppet movie so much even felt soooo related to the character when I was a teenager
Heck I dyed my hair cause of her, so yeah!
Beautiful artwork btw! 💜💜💜
CORALINE!
I thought it was Rapunzel at first, but Coraline would be much more fitting for a halloween theme!
A wonderful video. Would the picture have been easier or harder to paint in acrylic gouache?
Eu amo tanto os seus desenhos. Amo o seu canal, beijos do Brasil 🇧🇷❤
YAYY A NEW VIDEOOOO 💙 I love it
TALENTED, BRILLIANT, INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, SPECTACULAR, NEVER THE SAME, TOTALLY UNIQUE 👇
What paintbrushes do you use? They look magical!
WOW THAT AMAZING 😮😍👏GOOD JOB
Magenta saves the day! ❤️
I love the colour pallete for this piece 💕. Quick question if you have the time: I noticed in a previous video that you mention that to get clean line art you grip the brush extremely tightly, For the main part of the piece do you have a similar grip or different? Sorry if this seems weird, I'm just always looking for material to improve my technique 😅. Have an awesome day ✨
Thank you so much!
I think that I probably have a looser grip when it comes to larger areas (like painting the clouds for this piece) but I generally am a more controlled painter which usually means I have a tighter grip on my brush. But it all just comes down to personal preferences!
Love this🥰🥰
Never been this early!!! Lol it's 12 midnight here so yeah i can't sleep.
I am thinking about buying some gouache. My style is more realistic but with not very complicated shading. any good tips?
A quick correction: unfortunately US Netflix doesn’t have the studio ghibli movies. :( I wish they did. HBOMax has rights to it right now, from what I can remember.
I never thought of use gouache in this way .
Next weeks character is totally Coraline!!
Wow
The fact that this has 2.1K likes to only 9 dislikes proves that you are a wonder.
Omg are you drawing Coraline thats gonna be awesomeeee

PLEASE be Coraline next week!!!
I think it could be Coraline!
