Oh yes, I am 76 years old and if I even hear music from certain movies.....yes, I weep....that is a good thing....just found you...enjoyed your video...God bless you and your talent. Thank you for sharing.
All of the Rankin and Bass films, and especially the Year Without a Santa Claus, do that to me. I loved them as a child and if I even attempt to watch them now I'm sobbing like a baby with nostalgia.
I really understand you crying at the father part! I've only recently started watching ghibli movies, and cried at my neighbour totoro and spirited away because they were so beautiful and real and happy, ghibli is so good at placing you into worlds where happiness is so pure and strong that you burst into tears! this is gorgeous by the way, your art always amazes me! 💕
Monica Jenrette it’s hard to find a artist who paints in this style, even harder to find one who paints black girls & on every video I get ignored when I ask LOL. Maybe next time!
Before I came to your channel Ive worked mainly in acrylic, but youve inspired me to branch out into water color and I just love the feel of it so much more! so thankyou for that
Literally at the point where you're not even halfway through i would say to myself 'I'm done it looks good enough' i think i really need to start trying to capture more detail in my art. 👀
Instead of renting, my local library had a copy of Kiki's Delivery Service to borrow. I would borrow it at LEAST once a month, it was my favorite movie. I CRIED when I got my own copy as a birthday present years later so much nostalgia.
Kiki's Delivery Service was actually the first Ghibli film I ever watched so it's very near and dear to my heart haha We even still have the movie on VHS and watch it from time to time
This is such a beautiful drawing! I've never watched any of the Studio Ghibli movies, at least not yet. The colors are really pretty too. 😍❤ I clearly remember VHS too. I would always rent movies from there when they were still around.
Can I just say that watching your videos and seeing your artwork inspires me soooo much. I love to watch and rewatch your videos for motivation and inspiration to draw and paint. I want to become an artist and go to school for it, and your videos give me so much confidence that I can do it! Thank you!💖
I love to see your art come to life, I watch your videos a million times, it inspires me so so so much and it's so satisfying. can't wait for the next videos. kisses from a brazillian fan 💗🇧🇷
This was so cool to watch and really enjoyed hearing you talk about your connection to this movie. I would absolutely love to see you paint Howl and I have to say I love him blonde and with black hair so maybe you could do both? Like two paintings, one with blonde and one with black hair. But take your time with that, do whichever you want
Not sure if I'm as old as you, probably not (19) but back in the day whenever I spent the weekend at my dads we always rented a movie or two. Unfortunately the only store that was left doing that closed years ago. Rest in peace, childhood 😄
I rented Totoro a LOT when I was a kid but I watched Kiki on tv since it actually aired on one of the local channels here. Absolutely love anything Ghibli haha Love your work and I really enjoy your videos!
I litterally just watched Kiki’s delivery service last night with my mum, funny coincidence this comes in my recommended but im not mad. This is so beautiful 🥺
i remember when i was 7 or 8 me and my siblings would all walk to the blockbuster in town and rent some movies for the night, it's such a nostalgic feeling to think back on i feel like such a boomer saying this but i miss those kinds of things tbh
Agreed!! It made watching a movie like a special event, and as much as I enjoy the convenience that we have now, I can't help but miss when things moved a little slower haha
Ive been watching the majority of your videos.. and will get to them all soon! I am not an artist, but I want to be. I really resonate with your favoritism of pink/purple/blue colors you’ve mentioned in a previous video. I love your strong female characters they look fierce and beautiful. I’ve never wanted to learn how to draw people but now I do bc of you! Maybe you could do a video of how you started drawing, how you learned, if you took any classes or it just came naturally when you practiced. I’d also love a tutorial on how to draw.. as well as how you know lighting when you are painting.
Thank you so much for your lovely and thoughtful comment! So happy to hear that I can inspire you to explore more art endeavors! I definitely intend to do more walk-through type videos so you guys can get a better insight to my process!
To be honest, I never really thought much about it,, I thought it was just a fictional story but now that I think about it...it does make sense. I never really noticed how much I relate to Kiki not until u mentioned it. I had so much fun watching this video. The tips were also really helpful! I really like Paul Rubens but its really expensive here in our country...
this is amazing!!! Kiki's delivery service was my first ghibli movie! I was very very young and I THINK it was playing on the disney channel?? I was probably around 5-7 and I remember being GLUED to the screen and not being able to stop watching lol
So lovely! I also used to do to a blockbuster/video depot to rent movies but sadly they closed it down a couple years back. I would love to see you do a Ponyo piece! As always I love your art and videos ✿
Omg, pleeeeaaaase do Howl ! Howl’s moving castle is a favourite of mine, it’s sooo beautiful and it has this great cozy and vintage feel that studio Ghibli always portray beautifully !
Tales of earth sea was the first ghibli Motive I ever saw. I did not remember anything about it until I saw Laputa - Castle in the sky and something (still can't put my finger on it) remembered me of it. I have such a hard time with round brushes for gouache- whenever I use them my shapes just turn out so blobby and formless, so I'm more likely to use chisel/flat brushes nowaday. Of course, my style tends to me a bit more blocky so they go well together. I still like using rounds for inks, though.
my favorite ghibli studios movie is ponyo hands down!! it’s the first movie i’ve ever watched by them and i really want to watch it again. literally my childhood lol.

(p.s. natural dark-haired Howl all the way, but we all know he looks gorgeous no matter what 😉😏❤️)

OMG, I totally forgot about those giant posters, YES! Oh no I'm so sad for you, that Lord of the Rings poster must've been amaaazing!!! AW! Well if you have the sketch on watercolour paper and you got some gouache then I say go for the gouache! Take a picture of your sketch first to reference later, the gouache will cover some of it as you go. I recommend diluting the paints with a little bit of water for the first few layers then use less water as you get to the final layers. Plus, you can also use your coloured pencils on top of the gouache if you want some texture! Good luck and have fun!
This painting is beautiful💜😍 I'm very interested in knowing your journey as a graphic design student since I'm also struggling to decide if I want to pursue graphic design or Illustration instead.

Does anybody have tips on making flat washes of color with watercolor? I tend to put too much or too little water. Either way it tends to be streaky or with a cauliflower effect :,)
