I've been lucky enough to see Ozzy with most of his guitarists (not Brad Willis). And there's one true fact bundy can deny, NOBODY but Jake E. Lee can play SHOT IN THE DARK, Zakk can't, it's a masterpiece, but I don't think even Randy could have duplicated it had he lived. Too many unique things. Jake IS criminally underrated.
Funny story (to me anyway). When this song first came out back in the 80's, a friend of mine was into all the pop, bubble gum groups of that time. There was a dance club we use to hang out at every Sunday. They had a jukebox that played videos. This was one of them. So I made her watch it over and over. Along with "Tears are falling" by KISS. Today, she is a hardcore metal head! Mission accomplished! 🤘😂
Since your friend was a bubble gum pop fan I encourage you to look up the original version of this song--Yes,…this is not the original version of this song! This song was brought to Ozzie by the bass player (Phil Soussan) and reworked as a song for Ozzy. The bass player did this song in his previous band “Wildlife”. Look up “Shot In the Dark” by “Wildlife” on UA-cam.
Ozzy has always had great guitarists ! But those of us old enough to remember Randy Rhodes will always consider Randy the guitarist who not only put Ozzy back on top in the rock scene but is one of the GOAT'S of rock music !

(Arguably some of Zakk’s Best guitar work with Ozzy) It’s odd how they have all filled each other’s shoes so damn well over the years. Some might argue that, and one or the other might not be their favorite, but I think most of us can agree that they all have a similar style and a somewhat interchangeable niche with Ozzy.

That is Jake E. Lee on the guitar, sir. He is a master. This was my favorite song for the longest time because of his playing. To play those final notes in his solo, you actually take the pick sideways and hammer it against the neck of the guitar on a particular fret (note) really fast and then just slide your finger up the frets (notes) with the other hand on the same string. It makes a trilling sound like that as it gets higher in the chord progression. Awesomeness.

Ozzy is still at it. His new album, Patient #9, will be released in Sep. The title track(ft Jeff Beck) and Degradation Rules(ft, Tony Iommi) have already been released as singles.
Ozzy is definitely my favorite in metal, my wife secretly bought me tickets many years ago to see him at Ossfest and the icing on the cake was Iron Maiden being there as a special guest band.
"Shot in the Dark" was originally composed sometime around 1983 by members of Wildlife, a band featuring Steve Overland, Chris Overland, Simon Kirke of Bad Company, keyboardist Mark Booty, and future Ozzy Osbourne bassist Phil Soussan. Wildlife recorded a demo version of the song that was never officially released. When Soussan joined Ozzy Osbourne's band a couple of years later, he and Osbourne then reworked the song for Ozzy Osbourne's recording and release in early 1986. As a result, there has been much debate over the proper authorship of the song. Although the writing is credited to Soussan and Osbourne, some question whether other members of Wildlife (the Overland brothers, in particular) deserve writing credit for Osbourne's rendition, and what Osbourne's exact role was in the rewriting process. Later releases and omissions Despite the commercial success of "Shot in the Dark", it was notably omitted from various re-releases and further compilations after 2000, widely believed to be the result of the aforementioned authorship issues, along with other legal disputes from Phil Soussan and Bob Daisley,[6] while Osbourne himself has simply stated that he hates the Ultimate Sin album in general.[7] One notable exception to the song's consistent exclusion from compilations is the original 1997 release of The Ozzman Cometh. However, the 2002 re-release of this retrospective featured the track "Miracle Man" replacing "Shot in the Dark". In addition, the song is absent from compilations such as The Essential Ozzy Osbourne, Prince of Darkness, and Memoirs of a Madman. Both the EP Just Say Ozzy, which contains a live version of the song, and the original studio album The Ultimate Sin, were officially deleted from Ozzy's catalog in 2002. The original Ozzy Osbourne un-edited studio recording of "Shot in the Dark" (4:26) appears only on the 1986 single and the original release of The Ultimate Sin album. Later reissues of albums featuring a studio version of "Shot in the Dark" (namely, the 1995 remastered edition of The Ultimate Sin and the original 1997 release of The Ozzman Cometh) have the song edited to a 4:16 version, missing four extra measures of music after the first chorus. The original Wildlife rendition of the song was recorded and released by the Overland brothers' post-Wildlife AOR band FM on their 2012 release Only Foolin EP'.[8] The song was also covered by Finnish melodic rock band Stala & So. on their 2013 album Play Another Round (as bonus track), by Children of Bodom as a bonus track on their 2000 record Follow the Reaper, and by German power metal band Powerwolf on their 2015 album Metallum Nostrum.

Ozzy, The Prince Of Darkness. Your next Ozzy song should be Bark At The Moon. The guitar on this song is incredible, mind blowing! Don't miss that one!.
That guitarist is Jake E. Lee. One of MY favorite solos by him is the solo from the song Bark at the moon. This song is off his Ultimate Sin album. The whole albums is good!
As a kid, when I saw the mother waving to her daughter in the beginning of the video, 1:26 it always seemed so sad as if she would never see her again.
What a song!!! The Ultimate Sin is one hell of an album!! All of the tracks on this album is worth checking out but if I had to pick two more for you to listern too they would be - The Ultimate Sin & Secret Loser!!! There will never be another Ozzy 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was in high school in the early 80s and Ozzy was a God to me, I listened to him every single day and saw him 3 times. I'm 56 and I'm still jammin to him.
I was at a Ozzy show in Kalamazoo Michigan way back in the day. Front row because I had a friend in the set up crew. Ozzy mooned the crowed and his sagging sack was like 4 feet from my head! The best day of my life.
Guitarist Jake E. Lee's post-Ozzy band, Badlands, was great (it also featured drummer Eric Singer, before he joined KISS). Check out the songs "High Wire", "Winter's Call", "The Last Time".
Love It!! Good Ol' Hard Hitting Ozzy Rock! :) PS- J... I saw both shirts, and thought 'We need some more AC/DC!' But Ozzy did JUST FINE today :) Great Choice AGAIN GUYS!!
Great choice!! The Jake E Lee, (Guitarist on this song), era of Ozzy always seems to go overlooked, but it was just as full of great songs as any other! This is in fact the first Ozzy song I remember getting into as a kid!
The fabulous Jake E Lee on guitar, Phil Soussan on bass, Randy Castillo (RIP) on drums...a great line-up! Had the pleasure of seeing a handful of gigs on this tour and they blew the roof off every night! 🤘
Ozzy's guitar player during this period was Jake E. Lee. A VERY skilled player who's responsible for a slew of killers riffs. After his "Ozzy" gig he went on to form a band called, "Badlands" with a phenomenal vocalist named.....Ray Gillen. Their debut album is absolutely excellent. Check out a track of their's called......"Dreams In The Dark". I saw them live and Ray's voice was amazing. Vocals and guitar work are way up their on the whole album and the songs themselves are really catchy.
One thing Ozzy was good at was finding great musicians to surround himself with. The guitar in this is Jake E Lee. You should check out: "Bark At the Moon" "Rock and Roll Rebel" If you like the guitar in this, then oh boy are you gonna LOVE the genius of the late Randy Rhodes on: "Crazy Train" "Flying High Again" "You Can't Kill Rock & Roll" "Mr. Crowley" Then there's Zakk Wylde on guitar on songs like: "Mama I'm Coming Home" "No More Tears" Tioraidh an-drasta 🏴

Later releases and omissions
Despite the commercial success of "Shot in the Dark", it was notably omitted from various re-releases and further compilations after 2000, widely believed to be the result of the aforementioned authorship issues, along with other legal disputes from Phil Soussan and Bob Daisley,[6] while Osbourne himself has simply stated that he hates the Ultimate Sin album in general.[7] One notable exception to the song's consistent exclusion from compilations is the original 1997 release of The Ozzman Cometh.

For me it’s one of the best album and Jake e Lee is amazing guitarist
You both have had quite an education of music! Love y’all
Wife here...This is the epitome of Ozzy's "Hair Metal" years...Looooove it..Got constant play on MTV!!!
Ozzy has worked with some of the greatest guitarists on the planet --- but Jake Lee is my personal favorite!
Mine too ❤❤❤❤
Jake E Lee Guitar- Phill Soussan Bass and The Late Great Randy Castillo on Drums !! R.I.P. Randy Castillo !!
Weird, I was listening to this song yesterday on my way to work and was thinking about how you guys should react to it. That's Jake E Lee on guitar, with one of my all time favorite guitar song performances.
I've been waiting for this reaction 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh Ozzy fits in a box - the padded white rubber room in the psyche ward 😀
Definitely one of his better post Sabbath songs ♥
Ozzy, the amazing Jake E Lee!! What could go wrong? Great reaction guys! More Ozzy, please! 🙂
The Ultimate Sin album is one of my favorites of Ozzys. Jake E Lee is every bit as great as Randy Roads IMO.
I went to this concert. It was my first Ozzy concert and I LOVED it! Jake E Lee was the guitarist during this tour and he was Amazing! Keep On Rockin'
Dove deep into Ozzy.
He is the voice of metal.
Ultimate Sin is one of my favorite Ozzy albums. Killer Of Giants.
Great choice! There is a great power ballad of him from around those years: "SO TIRED". You have to listen to it, for sure you will appreciate and enjoy the great instrumentation and an interesting music video where he performs 5 characters. You will be surprised by a different side of Ozzy
I saw Jake E. Lee with "Bad Lands" wraming up for "Great White" and "Tesla"...a great guitar player for Ozzy!
AWESOME choice...I 100% agree Sergio!!!!...almost everything in this album is so good; I suggest "Lightning Strikes" from the same album!! Oh, and YES, Jake E. Lee, FANTASTIC guitarist, WAY WAY WAY underrated!
You REALLY need to hear "No More Tears". Talk about epic Ozzy! 🤘
Ozzy is God, pick any of his songs and it will be good. Great choice, seen him many times, both with Sabbath and Solo, and he always put on quite a show, backed up by legendary musicians. For a great Deep Cut of his, try Killer of Giants. Time for you two to go down the Black Sabbath rabbit hole soon. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
Ozzy always had amazing guitarists complementing his godfather of heavy metal voice 😂thank you Sharon 🎉😮😊
RIP RANDY CASTILLO
So nice that you reacted to Ozzy. My cousin is a drummer, he took drum lessons from Randy Castillo Ozzy's drummer they both are from Albuquerque, New Mexico RIP Randy 💙🙏 he passed a few years... ago...
Ozzy, The Prince Of Darkness. Your next Ozzy song should be Bark At The Moon. The guitar on this song is incredible, mind blowing! Don't miss that one!.
One of my favorites by him. Very surprised yall checked this one out. Very cool
KISS - Hard Luck Woman
Or God gave Rock in Roll by them
Also beth
With Peter Criss vocals
Guitarist for this album was Jake E Lee. And you would definitely like the song bark at the Moon !!
Zak and Randy get all the press but for me Jake is Ozzys best guitar player. He just fit so well within the songs, both leads and rhythm
Jake e lee is Ozzy’s most underrated guitarist. He totally rips on guitar
I think you may be the first of the several reactors I subscribe to who have reacted to this song. It's one of my all-time favorites of Ozzy's!
Love the production on Ultimate Sin
So many great Ozzy songs... most have been brought up already.
I think Perry Mason is one of my favorites...
Love this album! 80s Ozzy rocks
I was in high school in the early 80s and Ozzy was a God to me, I listened to him every single day and saw him 3 times. I'm 56 and I'm still jammin to him.
Bark at the Moon is my favorite Ozzy song from this era (Jake E. Lee)
I was at a Ozzy show in Kalamazoo Michigan way back in the day. Front row because I had a friend in the set up crew. Ozzy mooned the crowed and his sagging sack was like 4 feet from my head! The best day of my life.
Jake E Lee what a freaking awesome guitarist. I stood in line at Shepard Mall when this album came out
Guitarist Jake E.
Bark at the Moon (1983) should be the follow up to this. It's Ozzy in some heavy makeup from Greg Cannom. Awesome guitar work in that one too!
Great choice!! The Jake E Lee, (Guitarist on this song), era of Ozzy always seems to go overlooked, but it was just as full of great songs as any other!
This is in fact the first Ozzy song I remember getting into as a kid!
Jake E Lee is the guitarist, who went on to form a KILLER band called Badlands, you guys would LOVE!
Ozzy Rules, Ozzy for President!!!!!!
The fabulous Jake E Lee on guitar, Phil Soussan on bass, Randy Castillo (RIP) on drums...a great line-up! Had the pleasure of seeing a handful of gigs on this tour and they blew the roof off every night! 🤘
I've heard folks say that this album was Ozzy Lite, and a was a little more commercial than previous albums, but they are still great, catchy tunes
Loooove Ozzy! He's always had the BEST guitarists in metal. Randy , Jake E. Lee, Zack Wylde ♥️
The guitarist Jake E. Lee went on to form Badlands. Check out their tune "Dreams in the dark".
This definitely has a night cruising sound to it.
This came out when I was 12 and gravitating toward heavy music. I'll always have a soft spot for it.
I was 15 and fell in ❤ with Jake E Lee
One thing Ozzy was good at was finding great musicians to surround himself with. The guitar in this is Jake E Lee. You should check out:
"Bark At the Moon"
"Rock and Roll Rebel"
If you like the guitar in this, then oh boy are you gonna LOVE the genius of the late Randy Rhodes on:
"Crazy Train"
"Flying High Again"
"You Can't Kill Rock & Roll"
"Mr. Crowley"
Then there's Zakk Wylde on guitar on songs like:
"Mama I'm Coming Home"
"No More Tears"
Tioraidh an-drasta 🏴
A MUST HEAR,, Kelly (His Daughter) & Ozzy Osbourne "Changes"...TRUST ME!!
