Note :“Mama,” Ozzy’s pet name for Sharon Osbourne, the mother of his children as well as his wife and manager, was the inspiration behind this song’s title-at the end of each tour, he tells her, “Mama, I’m coming home!” The song and its title were handed to MOTORHEADS’s LEMMY KILMISTER who wrote the song about missing home and returning, despite the dark history one has had there.

@@kevinsteadman7215 I know people like to bash on her but you are spot on. Without Sharon, there would be no Ozzy. And I think that is true even today. If something happened to her or had she been taken by cancer years back, Ozzy wouldn't last the year. She is his rock and reason for living.

About Ozzy's background: He and his Black Sabbath bandmates are from a gritty, industrial city in England called Birmingham. It was either work in the factories or find some way not to, and the band ended up being their ticket out of it. As for this song, it was co-written with Lemmy (from Motorhead) and Zakk Wylde, who's the guitarist on this track. So it's unclear to what extent it's about Ozzy's own mother. But either way, it's a hell of a power ballad! Next stop: "Close My Eyes Forever" (featuring Lita Ford).

As others have said, Ozzy is a genuine rock god. Others may have mentioned this too: Sharon called Lemmy, singer, bass player and lyricist with Motorhead, asking him to write seven songs for Ozzy, for $100,000. Lemmy said "where do I sign?!"
Though Motorhead's music is known for the fast rock n roll (as Lemmy called it), early thrash/metal/punk, Lemmy could write great ballads too.
He wrote the seven songs, Ozzy used four - this was one of them.
Was lucky to see Ozzy with Zak Wylde in the 1980s, then finally reunited with Black Sabbath in 2013. Both great gigs.

Written by Lemmy Kilmister of MOTORHEAD...he wrote 2 other songs on this album, both great. Ozzy was shocked at how close to home this hit for him...it was like he explained his relationship with Sharon better than he did. Whenever Lemmy writes a ballad, watch out.. hes coming to crush your heart. Despite his appearance and reputationation, Lemmy was a literate and incredibly well read wordsmith that knew how to use language like an emotional scalpel.

Man I remember going to Ozzfest every year. Those were some of the best times. Ozzy and all the performers on that stage truly ave you an amazing experience.

Ozzy is in my top 3 - I'm always elated when someone does a reaction (especially because his videos tend to be difficult to get through the process)

Ozzy is one of those artists that have kept his singing chops into older age. Check out one of his newer songs, "Under The Graveyard". It almost sounds like his epitaph.

One of Ozzy’s best ballads and you should also listen to No More Tears the title track from the same album as this one. Shot In The Dark, Miracle Man, Crazy Babies, Ordinary Man, Suicide Solution & I Don’t Know … a few of my fave Ozzy tracks. Also this song was written for his wife Sharon.

A year ago, I worked in an office setting and was having a bad day. I had a Bose Bluetooth boombox on my desk, and I and I put this song on and cranked it. After the song, I felt better. Ozzy saved the day. A week later, I was written up for it, which I found quite funny. I have since retired from that place after 25 years. This song and the harmonies always put me into a zone. I've always loved Ozzy's music.

Some of Ozzy's tunes are fictional in nature, or at least allegorical but those where he waxes lyrical about his friends, family and feelings are his best (there are *no* bad Ozzy songs)...
For more like this, try *Goodbye To Romance* and *Road To Nowhere*
Please react to *Over The Mountain* next, though I think Amber will appreciate the message of the lyrics and Jay will love the killer guitar 😃
    Thanks
    S.W.
