I mean, what did we honestly expect, an F1 car, built for circuit racing like COTA vs. a NASCAR built for oval tracks, unlike COTA. Even with a 30-second headstart what did we expect?
i excpected the guy in the 2CV to win...
Even on an oval track, an F1 car would likely win. On oval tracks it's all about power-to-weight ratio and drag coefficient, and an F1 car's got a NASCAR stock car beat on that as well. Stock cars are just not very good racecars, but fans of NASCAR would argue that that's the point. They're not precision-built fighter jets glued to the ground. They're clunky hunks of metal with the aerodynamic properties of a brick shuffling around a track with an overpowered engine (still less powerful than an F1 power unit, though).

Die hard f1 fans out there, when you watch nascar at a road course, are constantly buged of how slow they go?
Tbh the biggest turnoff in terms of the cars themselves is watching the cars drive way off the track at every corner exit.
Also the playoff system and heats is just generally annoying.

There's no Camaro NASCAR Cup mod yet, the latest we got in AC is RSS Hyperion which is based on the Ford Mustang one

eh, i mean nascar isn't really designed to be as fast as possible. the whole point is they are heavy as hell, impossible to drive on road courses, all while super overpowered
F1 cars aren't built to be as fast as possible either, held back by regulations and rules of the FIA, there's a red bull concept f1 car out there that ignores all the rules, I can't remember what its called or if its physically possible to have an f1 car that overpowered but jimmy broadbent has done a few videos on it.

@@GoatedAtNFS you don't understand downforce. Im not saying remove wings. Im saying that if a track like daytona was in the f1 schedule, they would make the necessary adjustments to race that track, at which point they would run a low drag and downforce setup, making them much faster than nascar
The Texas Grand Prix fastest qualifying lap for Nascar was a 2:12.9.
The fastest qualifying lap for F1 was a 1:32. A 40 second lap difference.
Average speed for the Nascars during the race was 59.6MPH. You go faster when on a highway.
The Texas Grand Prix though was also run while it was raining for most of the race

Why are so many Nascar fans trying to make up stupid excuses and try to stand against the facts. F1. Is. Faster. And that on every occasion, they are just much faster even in an oval they'd beat Nascar but thats because they are made to be that way, they are made to have the fastest time possible and teams like Mercedes spend hundreds of millions to develope the absolute best car possible, it's just different to Nascar who just use stock cars but that's totally fine, because in the end Nascar is not just about speed but about entertainment and aggressive racing, like the cars are much heavier because they ram each other, which is forbidden in f1. But pls just accept the fact and live with it

I mean, I agree. The Mercedes domination made the sport dull until the 2020 season.
But for me, F1 is much more entertaining this year because there could be actually a 4 way battle for the title or 6 if you count Mercedes.
The travelling also is what makes watching F1 fun in my opinion.
