    Should clean up coupler (sand off rust) and apply anti-seize to the entire shaft. Then you can get it out when you want. Else good luck trying to get it out as it will rust in place.

    Your truck uses the instrument cluster to turn on the dome lights when you open the doors, so when you fix your cluster, you may fix your dome lights at the same time. My older Fords (95 - 96) had issues with things like plastic clips that break if you look at them wrong, but on all my 99's they have been holding up pretty good. Those issues are very aggravating and then they rattle. These older trucks certainly can pull far more than they should...the real issue would be stopping like they should. When I get my CDL I will leave my truck plated for 26K so I won't have to deal with IFTA and drug consortium. I'll deal with that if and when I move up to a semi.

      TIPM - is a pain in the ass for sure. Best thing you can do with a new Ram- do not use their POS trailer brakes. Run a separate brake controller And power wires to the back- heavy trailer brake use is the number one reason the TIPM fail.

    Check Fuse #16, for the interior and Cargo lights. it's a 15A, I believe. My 07 will pop the fuse if I have parking lights on, and dome lights on at the same time, with the key off. It won't pop it if the key is in the RUN position.. lol

    As long as the waste oil is filtered good enough, I don't believe it's bad for the pump cuz of the lubricity it enables. According to several diesel mechanics I've talked to, they claim the diesel fuel today is much worse due to the ultra low sulfur. Hell I put half a quart of ATF when I fill up my 12v. My only concern would be any really small metals from that oil, but like I said, it'll be fine if it's filter good enough. Godspeed brother.

    • @larrythompson8630

    • @kellymichael7362
      @kellymichael7362 3 роки тому

      @@larrythompson8630 No, it's red, but a half a quart is negligible. I can't seeing that amount turning the fuel to red. But I would only use it for a 12v. I'd be afraid of what it might do to these newer diesels.

    Why would you change from a gooseneck to a 5th wheel? Honest question..

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  3 роки тому

      There's a lot of reasons
      - Easier to hookup
      - More secure hookup
      - It makes the neck a lot shorter so there's less leverage on the neck
      - If you get rear ended you have a higher chance of the neck surviving
      - More stability
      - No safety chains
      - Never have to crank landing gear, drop the air suspension and drive off
      - No grease required of you use a lube plate
      There's a bunch more that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Main thing is preference. I HATED cranking the landing gear to clear the stuff in my bed. This I just back up, air up, and pull the landing gear pin. Effortless!

Made the mistake of telling the wife what it costs- I’m a master tech but at 110 degrees / I’m not pulling heads in my driveway by myself. This way there is a warranty on the heads Amd new ford injectors!

    Steve, you ever run red fuel?

      You get caught. Free will be expensive. Area outfit got caught. Driver called boss who drove over to deal with it. Boss got loud, they dipped the truck boss drove. Red fuel. They went to his yard. Every truck failed. Huge fines. He made deal to never own a diesel pickup again.
      I ran pink decade ago. Bought storage barrel. Had been farm. Called DOT as 30 gallons road put in, came out red. They documented my call, gave me info. “If dipped give this info” ram @300 gallons at time. Pink was detectable by my eyes for a while.
      So if you did. Run tank as low as you dare, fill 1/4, run low again. Hopefully you flus all tint.n

    • @CPSteveMiller
      @CPSteveMiller  3 роки тому

      Depends on what is included. I pay 15% plus insurance but some places charge up to 30%. At 15% there really isn't much money for a company to profit off a driver. An mc number is expensive to have and running a trucking company takes a lot so anything in between 20 and 30% is normal depending on what they include. Insurance, dispatcher, load boards, etc could all be included or not

    Steve face it. Your polishing a turd! Stop constantly talking all the things you’re going to do to make it a show truck. I really do admire your skill set and being able to keep that POS running down the road. Don’t spend a dime you don’t have to on it because it is what it is. Keep it going until you’re in a position to upgrade. Take your time to find the next used but better truck. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Before you know it you’ll have have very good equipment you can be proud of. Best of all you won’t have debt to go with it. Cash is king. You’re a hard working guy that’s driven to take care of his family. Just keep pushing through it. You’re going to achieve your goals before you know it.

    • @CPSteveMiller

      Going to keep it forever just because it pisses y'all off. Get over it. It's a good looking truck that provides for my family. If that offends you that I like what I drive, and my family is taken care of, then idk what to tell you. I like it and I've more than proved I can make a huge transformation over time.
      Y'all out here getting violations in new trucks show you can't handle the business. The fact that I have an old truck I can keep running, my bills are paid, and I have NO violations in the truck. My family matters more to me than your opinion on my equipment.

      Not to mention it'll look just as good as a new truck. I just locked in a set of megacab flares in Florida I'll be picking up in 2 weeks and a new grill. One step closer to getting a full paint job which I will be paying for after my legal stuff is paid off because I deserve it.

      Just because you're lazy doesn't mean I am. People like you blow my mind because yeah "just" buy a new one like it's so easy to go spend 80k and raise overhead a ton. Maybe learn how to maintain an old one. I don't need to spend 80k on a new truck to make the same money. Not to mention I don't want a truck sitting at a dealer lot when the emissions stuff fails, or the fuel system destroys itself, or the engines fail. No thanks. I'll keep my money in my pocket.
