These drones have quite a large endurance compared to manned combat aircrafts.
Anti-drone only against MALE UAVs, the bigger challenge is micro/nano-UAVs used by pak to supply weapons/explosives and drugs.

I think, Drdo and hal should redesign Archer drone for more action. Also need good endurance vertical take drone to drop Grenade, Mortar shell and micro munition.

Thanks for a good narrative of the armed drone development. I think Indian army and IAF have already initiated converting all unguided bombs and hydra rockets into APKWS similar to that of BAE systems which will be economical and precise in scale and action . I hope they shall be developed by a private company with drdo tech transfer which shall help in developing the echosystem.

Missile warning system in aircrafts has its limitations as modern missiles have very short engagement period, Missile operators use opticle and acostic signals to locate aircraft and activate radars and missiles at the last moment when the aircract cant evade and it is in striking range,,
UAV are silent and smaller so the can evade the missile defense most of the time,
Its an opportunity India must seize. Russia has grabbed Turkish drones in Ukraine and must request Russia for technical specs.
It will help saving India billions on R_D and latest te hologram at local production.
More advanced drones are required and should be quick in the market.

See the news. Turkey is going to start deliveries of Akinci drones from 2023. The most advanced Turkish drone. And they have already started development of TB3. And here we are celebrating yet to start user trials of TB3 competitor. Pity on Indian Army who have always been blamed for not supporting DRDO and other public sector companies.

Archer with smart munitions/rockets can be used to combat maoists in the red corridor. The smaller warhead would limit collateral damage and precision-guidance will ensure that the terrorists get taken out with minimal cost/ordnance used.
A large attack by such terrorists may get detected sooner too by the specialized high-res IR and visual cameras.
Need auto landing and return to base capability for archer in case of jamming or communication failure

You will always need antennas out of ground to communicate and taking out antenna is easy :)

Hey, Do you know ir and radar signature of these small drones are very low also the accoustic signature is low after some altitude they will come it's impossible to counter such drones everytime. You can't also deploy counterdrone measure everywhere it's impossible due to its cost even USA couldn't have done it. You should have a minimum tolerance strike them where it came from. For it to happen political will is required .

Archer has a more powerful engine then bayraktar tb2 yet the weapon carrying capacity is less compared to it... Why? Can anyone explain?
Same case with rustom 2 (360 hp engine. Will be increased to 450 hp in near future) while tb2 engine is 102 hp.
