    I'm a 36 yr old single mother of 2 boys. My husband passed away August 17'. The reason I'm telling you this, the first few months after he died, anytime I would have problems such as our A/C unit having issues or my car breaking down, I would call a mechanic or handyman and pay stupid amounts of money for repairs. My husband MADE SURE I wasn't helpless before he passed. I can change a tire, even my own oil/filters/etc, and little repairs around the house. I can do the basics. (He could fix anything) But there were things that I was clueless about.. I decided to STOP paying someone to help me. Instead, I would help myself AND teach my son's things my husband didn't get the chance too. UA-cam is amazing! LOL. The belt kit on my washing machine went out last month and I took care of it myself. Now my 14' Impala needs a PO496 purge valve and you showed me how easy it is. Thank you! So now I've subscribed to your channel for future repairs I might need on my car. Lol. ******I'm so sorry for this long ass story!*****

    My 2012 impala was having a rough time starting every time I filled the gas tank. The purge valve was the issue. Starts fine now. Thank you!

    I have been scratching my head like 5 years(I am not kidding) not knowing what was wrong with my vehicle. It was idling rough, not shifting correctly, hard shifting in the transition from decel to accel, it wouldn't start after filling up with gas, the engine would die when cornering.... Replaced this part, runs and drives perfect now. Vacuum leak, big issue, get them fixed, noted.

    Could a bad purge valve cause a fluctuating idle on a cold start? Fluctuating idle (600-900rpms) goes away after throwing it in drive or reverse. All in all, I am having the symptoms your video mentions for a bad purge valve minus the check engine light? Read online it can cause an almost sort of vacuum leak leading to a weird idle

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  4 роки тому

      Yes it can cause that. If its stuck open then technically it is a vacuum leak. Its super easy to check. If you have vacuum at the valve while its unplugged then its bad

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  4 роки тому

      You cant test for vacuum while its plugged in. Unplug the electrical connector and test for vacuum. If you have vacuum on the new part even when its not plugged in then you have a bad part. New doesnt always mean it works

    My 2014 Impala limited LT. is throwing a p0455 (large) Ran all winter with no issue but once the weather warmed up I started getting a “ gas cap loose “ warning and than the check engine light came on. I do not hear a clicking sound with engine running. Gas cap is tight. Any suggestions?
