I bought one in 2019 it’s a wildtracker that is their off-road version, fully built in Craigeburn (Melb) , G&S chassis with Alko suspension & esc . Interesting the bbq , heater & anti flap after market. The factory put Aussie Traveller anti flap , the blue lights I don’t know why but seems to work 🤷🏼‍♂️ had ours on last weekend and wasn’t many bugs about. Will say owner will work with you to build what you need or want. A lot at no extra , swapped ensuite around so can use storage for tables & chairs, toilet is on roadside for dump points plus heaps of little things
    Enjoying your search 👍

Thanks Stewie, I have to say that the Malibu van full off road version impressed us most at a recent caravan show of all the vans in that price range. With a few layout changes as you’ve done it might be around the mark. The Hurricane (same different badging) is also good. Cheers mate, enjoy!

@@caravansbythecampfire just thought to say Ranga the owner was actually building vans for 9 ( yes) caravan businesses and they just put their own stickers on them before he started Malibu. Hurricane use to be a model off-road with wraparound seating at the back , think there was or is a dealer issue when he went on his own

Mate, thanks for your comments - it has turned into some fun at times for sure. Your new van sounds great - it will be a full off-raider for us too… I can’t believe I’m doing a Jayco next but you never know - I’m looking forward to the JB Gator after that! Cheers!

With the Jayco see how many times the pair of you twat your heads as you go out of the door. Like the JB vans although put off slightly by the timber frame. Went for an Urban X-treme in the end. We don't have the luxury of too much choice over here in NZ but Jayco are the grey nomad go to here too! JB are available and a company has just started to bring in a kiwified version of a Vacationer.

    Hi.
Another great review. I thought the blue lights inside is to keep the bugs out. Love watching all your Van reviews, as you said you get what you pay for. Love the Zone caravans. Have you looked at the Sunland caravans, the blue heeler, or the Phoenix. Same quality as the Zone caravans.

We plan to do big laps! Take it slowly - I can’t believe how fast some people move from area to area - maybe it’s a time or weather thing, who knows. Yes, as half of all caravans are Jayco it will be interesting to experience one of those for sure! Thanks for your comments Darryn!

The clear diesel tank will end up growing a bug very quickly exposed to sunlight like that, not to mention getting brittle.
I assume this a Chinese made van? Imported part made and fitted of locally to avoid the tax.
Taps that work different ways 🤦‍♂️WTF.
I wouldn’t want to hang too much off the rear bar then doing a couple of thousand kms of corrugated outback roads.
Some very average plumbing workmanship under there, the diesel heater exhaust looks like it won’t be there long.
I think it would be fine if your planning on staying on the blacktop for your whole lap 🤔
Great review team, love your work 👍

can you clarify, how the brake away system is going to affect the tow pro? ( assuming the break away is working as intended) have you checked the 'design rules', regarding having handles on the front of vans and the number and positioning of external 'road' lights?

    • @caravansbythecampfire
      @caravansbythecampfire  Рік тому

Hi there, I could have explained the brake control better! What I was saying is when you have a controller fitted to the van (such as an Elecbrake or the like) and one in the car, if you don’t disconnect the one on the van this can cause them both to do the braking - the brakes are always applied but not with the smoothness you’d expect by just using the one controller. The emergency brake-away cable you attach and use normally.
I don’t believe there are any design rules regarding handles - it was a fad in the 90s which has stuck around. Very handy I guess if you have a tight spot and have to move them around at home or under cover, great for attaching ropes to. The guys building them appreciate being able to move the vans around the factory floor - there are for pushing and not pulling, too much pulling and most would come off.
The side lights - you need orange eliminated lights within 1m of the rear and 3m of the front. Reflectors are a bonus - I love the lights.
If any of this is incorrect or you know otherwise please let us know - I’ll keep working on explaining things better!

You can argue this point till the cows come home… which bugs, when etc, blue light also impacts sleep and the preparation for sleep - nobody mentions this but there are plenty of studies - a recent show visit saw nearly 100% removal of blue leds in vans. Interesting.
