We’ve had our Xtreme for nearly 2 years and absolutely made the right decision for a durable fully off road van. The cushions under the bed are footrests when you pull out the drawers under the lounge and the long cushion can be used as the in fill when the table is down for a 3rd person to sleep on the lounge 😊

Still cant believe the Stranger does not feel nervous on downhill braking , it seems the van is so solid and balanced that its very forgiving, now that says a lot about Urban’s design and build quality.

I reckon you could drop that off Uluru and it wouldn't get hung up. I like the use of timber look as it doesn't look as clinical as some new vans. I tow our 21.6 ft semi off road with a 2015 Ford Ranger and absolutely love it. Can't wait for more.

Nice van. Love your channel. Also love the lithium set up and solar quantity and air bags. The ranger must struggle with a 3 tonne tare van. I understand it's a hire car though a bit misleading for punters. Definitely not a van for a dual cab ute owner as it'll be over 3.5t loaded for travel.
thanks Chris! epic van mate! to be completely honest the ranger actually goes really well. obviously we are only 3.2T with just out clothes bags and full water tanks! I was very surprised because I thought it would really struggle! so far we sit on around 90-100kmh when the roads not too steep and we get around 17L per hundred which is awesome! the only time it struggles is up the mountains! thats when a big V8 would come in handy! on the flats its actually quite comfortable.. and thats coming from a Toyota man through and through! if I was ripping it around Aus full time I would recommend a cruiser or Y62 or a American truck or something bigger but if you were only doing 2-3 week trips every now and again the ranger is perfect.. given you staying within Gvm GCM towing capacity ect!

100% mate it’s a trade off between more comfort but beeing more restricted because it bigger or being nimble and less comfortable! I agree this could be our next van! Maybe a tad smaller!! Have to upgrade tow vehicles!!

Haha thanks mate! Haha sarah is spooked by flies mate but god that was a massive bloody bug hahah it is aye!! Don’t worry you can change the gloss black to whatever you want! I never new disc breaks were that good on trailers!! We fitted one to it after we picked it up

Thanks for the video guys, just a question, 2900 tare, 3500 ATM, so minus 300 towball and 300 water, how much weight can you actually have in the caravan? 🤔🤔 seems like it would be overweight with nothing 😢

good question! this is just a stock demo van. you can actually specify that you want more payload to urban and they will add various parts in order to get up to and sometimes exceeding a 1T payload.

Hey guys, great vid; really good to see the review on the Extreme. So after spending a bit of time in this very plush van, how does it compare overall as a 4x4 bush camp touring van compared to the Armorlite? Clearly its more comfortable and spacious inside, but does that compensate for having to drag the extra size and weight, particularly the extra width? And the need for a bigger (more expensive) tow rig? Really keen to hear your views, as I know you guys love the remote bush/beach camps, which is what we want to do. Cheers, lots of really useful info in that vid. Enjoy NZ!

Nah, all good - happy to wait as I truly want an honest appraisal. Its probably the biggest thing we're weighing up at the moment. I look at you travelling up those narrow, windy NZ roads (knowing we have plenty of narrow windy roads here in Oz), with the van hanging over the centre line, and that freaks me out. Not sure I would be comfortable towing that. And that it is IF we could ever find enough money to pay for the bigger van, bigger car. Plus hate driving big cars, much happier with the idea of the 2022 Prado (now that it has a 3T towing limit). So cheers, let me know once you've had more chance to process. A vid on this topic would be great, would probably help a lot of people who are also trying to make the decision on which way to go. Cheers, guys.

Thanks, it’s a ford ranger.. it’s a hire car whilst we travelled NZ! We have the same van in australia and we use a V8 200 series to tow it 😊
Could you touch a bit and show us the positive air pressure system and where its located
So where I pointed out the external vent, the fan is located inside the vent behind the fridge with an internal vent that allows the fan to push fresh air into the caravan "cab" and pressurise the space

Hi can you tell me what you set your brake controller at, i set mine at 5-6 I can not feel the caravan pulling the car, I have a ranger 2020 and 3.5t van the van does slow down when I use the manual override, still not sure how to set the brake controller or what feed back I should be getting
hi mate, I assume your refering to the Red Arc tow pro? so we currently have a different module over here! its removable because its a hire car. thats strange that you can't feel it. I would recommend turning them up more or doing a manual reset on your unit and letting it re-calibrate. also the dial/button should light up purple- red under braking thats how you can tell the unit is actually functioning

So by the time you load it up with your stuff it'll be over weight unless you use a truck to pull it.
This is a stock demo van. to get the ATM higher (more payload) super easy, matter of urban throwing on a few different parts to get the higher payload certificate. eg DO45 hitch (4500kg hitch instead of DO35) few other things.. again. stock van this one and they can give you more payload if you request it.

Tare 2.9t (van), GTM 3.5t (van?). The OEM GVM of a Ranger is 3.2t with a payload of of 922 Kg. But what's the ATM of the van?
That was a mouth typo on my behalf! ATM of the van is 3.5t on this demo van. Urban can put do45 hitch on and upgrade the ATM to much higher, closer to 1t payload

I call BS on your claim. It's still Aluminum frame; NOT fibreglass composite. After you experience water ingression, ANYTHING where water can penetrate is a nightmare. Cost of repairs is prohibitive. Anyone worth their salt in the industry will now say FibreGlass Composite is now the future for weight, strength and durability and ease of repair. Even the old diehards like Kedron and Spinifex now offer composite. Like a house, no matter how much bells and whistles you add, it's the foundation that make a long lasting and less maintenance.
Composite is cheap and quick. That’s why the other brands are starting to offer it.. it takes around 20-30 hours less labour per van so there’s more profit for the manufactures.. especially when they brand it as “ better than ali “ and charge the same amount haha 😂 How I know that is because we work in the industry..
Composite is light but that’s about it.. You do know that urbans are fibreglass composite panels don’t you.. the same impenetrable walls you speak of.. fibreglass composite panels wrapped around a welded tig aluminium frame. You think a composite van is stronger than aluminium welded framed composite van.. that’s 100% false. Like I said no doubt a composite panel van is lighter but it’s not possible for it to be stronger and more durable.. and We have never heard of anyone ever having to “maintaining a ali frame” haha
will only buy a caravan from a company that show their prices. hiding prices just says their going to try and charge as much as possible and prey on unsuspecting customers. do better urban, be transparent with your prices

urban could charge an extra 30-40k on there products. There’s only one other company out there that makes a similar construction van and there product is 40k more expensive.
