    Amanda, OMG You are a life saver! No your a sanity saver 🤔 yes, I just had a lightbulb moment with this video. I have been using way too much wax. Do you know what helped Me? I turned the lights off, just let the light come in the window. It was perfect! I could see the wax. I'm using "Paris Gray" on kitchen cabinets it's a light color and difficult to see. But, I'm almost done 🎉 😅 🍷. Thank you....Thank you.......Thank you.

    I recently started my first project. My chalk paint was coming off in spots when I was buffing. Any ideas on what I did wrong? I waited to wax 48 hrs and applied with a brush and then used the lint free soft rag to buff.

    Thank you that was a great demonstration and now I know why my brushes are shrinking, I thought I was going crazy.

      You can either let it sit for a day and go back and buff it or you can apply a second coat right after you complete the first coat!

    Such a helpful video! Thank you. I love the detail you put into it. I have a question. I want to put several layers of wax on my kitchen table. Do I need to buff each layer first? Do I need to do it all within 24 hours? Help! The clock is ticking.

    • @SuitePieces
      @SuitePieces  6 років тому +1

      Hi Elise! I’m so sorry for the delay!! You’ve probably already figured this out, but let me answer anyway 😊 all coats do not need to be done within 24 hours...actually, waiting 24 hours between coats is best for a stronger finish 👌🏼 you don’t have to buff each layer, but you do want to make sure it’s not sticky or tacky before you add on another layer...good luck!!

    • @SuitePieces
      @SuitePieces  7 років тому

      Hi Mary, You may have put too much or not enough wax. You can try to add more wax or try buffing off the excess with a rag! If it WAY too much you can totally remove the wax with mineral spirits and start over.

    Hi Amanda, I have recently found my clear wax is grainy. Like little balls. It's not old, any ideas why this is. I regularly wash my brushes aswell. I usually use the large Annie Sloan wax brush.

    • @SuitePieces
      @SuitePieces  7 років тому +1

      Hi Rogena! Hmm, Was your wax exposed to fluctuations in temperatures? (Previously been frozen or melted?) If you feel the wax needs to be thinned out, you can add a little mineral spirits to it. I would recommend scooping some out into a different container and only adding a drop and mixing it up. If it helps and you feel like you need more keeping doing so. OR some of our peeps like running warm water over their sealed container of wax this slightly warms up the wax and allows it to go on a little smoother! Hope that helps!

      Do you need to clean the wax out the brush between each coat?

    • @SuitePieces
      @SuitePieces  6 років тому

      You don't want your wax brush ever to be globbed up with wax, that being said, you need to have your wax brush dry at each coat. So you can either remove all the access wax with a paper towel then put the wax brush into a ziplock bag overnight so it doesn't get yucky OR emove all the access wax with a paper towel and wash your brush but make sure the brush is dry when you go to re-wax.

    Hi, I just recently started to use chalk paint and I really enjoy painting furniture with it. I am learning a lot with your videos. I personally think you are an excellent teacher and very generous in sharing your knowledge. Thank you! My question, behind you there is a wall with wood trims painted with the different colors. I have been looking for this color yellow 4th row second wood trim and 5th row first wood trim and cant't seem to find it. I always get the wrong yellow. Hi so when applying the wax finish, my piece seems uneven when I tried to buff it, to the point I was using too much elbow grease and getting nowhere. Does the finish look uneven because I had sanded my project first? Is there a remedy for this?? Help please because I'm frustrated that I ruined it!

    • @SuitePieces
      @SuitePieces  3 роки тому

      It could be a combination of a few things. 1. you may have rubbed TOO much wax off in some spots. 2. you applied pressure unevenly when sanding. These both can cause high points and low points. We recommend applying a heavier even coat then buffing back. PS. buffing shouldn't be back breaking!!

      Hi Kay! I’m so sorry you’re having some issues with the wax! It does have a bit of a learning curve for sure. But, I promise, if you apply it like I do in the video you’ll definitely have success! The key with the wax is not to apply too much and wipe back as you go, making sure the surface is never tacky or sticky when you move on to the next small area. Let us know if you have any other questions. And ps...if you want to fix the sticky parts, just use a little mineral spirits (or odorless solvent) on a rag to wipe it back, it’ll clean it up in a jiffy 👌🏼
