Is the space dlc needed? I have the latest game update and am using ships I made a long time ago. No gas relief. Though I would want this I like realism.

No space DLC is not needed for gas relief valves. Was the DLC. On the same day the major update was released which was pressurization. It is part of the pressurization major update which is part of the base game.

i assume this applies to custom tanks? like when you build a little tank out of blocks and use a fluid spawner to fill it instead of the default tanks. I dont know why it wouldnt but I just thought i will ask

i have a 500k liter tanker and i have 3 large pumps pumping in oil and 3 large pumps pumping out air. after a certain level, pressure starts climbing rapidly and air depletes. i can turn the oil pumps off and pressure will very slowly balance. i THINK this started around 50k liters. is it because of fuel compression mechanic? maybe i just need more air pumps?

You will get some liquid compression. You can test this by using a small tank pulling all the air out and you'll notice that the liquid will pressurize up to 60 atmospheres. So that very well could be part of it. The limiting factor at the moment seems to be the fluid ports.

hmm when i put this gas valve on my fuel started to leak out(losing fuel), does it matter what side(A or B) of the gas valve? Then I removed it and it stopped leaking out, so I'm not sure I want to put them on at all.

Are you sure you didn't put a liquid really valve on it?

No. It is closed loop I assume.
