If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Kouras. I started cutting my own hair when I was 13, back in 2008. This was during the Windows 99 era-dial-up internet, when UA-cam was a dating site, and the global economy got slapped. Hard. Because of it, my mom lost her job for nearly three years, and during that time, my dad had to support her, me, and my two brothers all on his own.
I started cutting my hair as a way to help my family save money because I was tired of hearing my parents argue about finances and wanted to do something to make things easier for them. After getting a few bad haircuts at Supercuts, I knew this was the best way I could help.
With that being said, this channel does not do my past any justice. I wish I could have recorded my first handful of self-haircuts so you could see just how garbage they were. I got made fun of a lot because of it in middle school-even by some of the moms from the kids on my soccer team! Rightfully so... They were pretty bad.
Now, over 15 years later, I share content that teaches millions of people every month in more than 165 countries how to save time and money by mastering self-haircuts from the comfort of your own home. It’s not a hard skill to learn, but like anything in life, if you make it a priority and stay committed, you can succeed without letting the tough times make you quit.
I had every reason to quit when I got started. No money. No mentor. No UA-cam. No clippers, only a $20 Remington beard trimmer. I was literally just a little kid who cared way more about my family's well-being than any bit of harsh criticism I could get as a result. Times have changed since 2008 and you now have an opportunity of a lifetime with my channel.
Please know, I’m here to help you on your self-haircut journey in any way I can. Self-haircuts are fun, an awesome skill to have, and the best way to avoid ever paying for a barber again!

Thanks for watching! What are two things you want to improve on from your last self-haircut?
😊
This was my 3rd self cut. First two were horrible i cut everything off. This one went way better. Practice everybody. It will happen eventually.
Me either 😅
I Just jacked up my game for the 2nd time. Definitely better than the first time. The only thing that sucks is having to wait til it grows long enough to try again. 🤦♂️
The fade is so clean man stretch fade is the best
Very nice I am learning a lot thanks
I just bought a trimmer with 3 guard sizes, 1mm, 2mm and 3mm... Hope I wont messed up
i don't cut as low on the sides but this is my go to haircut...thanks Alex
No 2 all over done !
If you don't mind me asking where did you buy that trimmer from 😊
Hi! All tools and equipment I recommend are always linked in the description of each video 🙏
Hello alex, i have number 1 2 3 and 4 with ı 'm very excited :)
I've been watching your UA-cam video for years and it's great I cut my hair as well but not everybody has your type hair can you do same video with straight hair cuz it is much harder to cut and fade.
Which hair clippers is that?
We have the same “birth” mark on our necks!
Nice ❤
Hi Alex with seborrheic dermatitis did you have rash on your face, head, forehead etc. if so how did you fix it. Thanks in advance Stephen
😍😍😍
How can I replace the half guard? Normal people who cut their own hair and have low budget, doesnt have half and 1 half guards for the clipper and we cant even order them seperatly, because its not gonna fit on the clipper, since we are using cheap clippers and dont want to spend a fortune on self haircut.
For guards half and 1 and a half buy at online stores, of course there are
You can also use guards 1 with the lever open to make it 1 and a half.
With the record of using it, don't press it too much ‼️
Go look at his page where he’s done a video without a halfguard
Clipper guards are cheap are readily available what are you talking about.....
I really want this haircut again but i look terrible with it when I try it.
It looked good on me in 2012.
Did my oval head get more oval in the past years ? 😆
After the 1 lever open, do you take out the line with the 1 lever closed? I didn’t see it in the video wasn’t sure if we use 1 lever closed or if the 1.5 closed takes out the line?
Your like me get one Side good the other ok but I got a bad eye so it makes it hard on my left to get it right
It's really easy, all you need is 4 mirrors, 3 cameras, lighting gear, and you're good to go! 😂 good vid tho
What number is the top??
I'd also love to know
That looks almost pinky finger length though and then shorter towards the front
Okay, but am I the odd one out for not spending 1-2k/yr at the barber?
But it is mid fade not high fade
14 yrs no pun intended but you haven't mastered the blending part
🤠
Thats the lowest high fade i ever seen 😂
Hello dermatitis
bruh this aint a high fade lmao, das a low fade
Yea…this ain’t happening. Will take me years to master this on my own 😂🤦🏻♂️
Its risky
Boo the roo
