For Time Crisis you can plug a controller in the second controller port and all of the face buttons will function as the "duck" button. Put it on the floor and use your foot for some pretty arcade faithful Time Crisis action.
I believe House of the Dead on the Saturn was ported by an Australian team who worked on the port of Manx TT. So they had experience with the system but had a rushed schedule. They didn't have enough time to polish off the graphics.
Actually Crypt Killer did come out on the US Saturn! When I heard Joe say that I ran to my shelf to look, and yup I still have it haha. Great episode guys, keep it up!
So many fantastic light gun games from the 90's; The House of the Dead 1/2, Virtua Cop 2, Elemental Gearbolt, Time Crisis, heck... even Die Hard Trilogy was awesome with its on-rail gun segments!
Ah, seeing footage of the first Death Crimson game sort of explains the quality (or lack thereof) of Death Crimson OX on the Dreamcast. Another quality video from DA SACK.
The Moorhuhn, or Crazy Chicken, franchise of games started in 1999 as a freeware score shooting game that was tied into a Johnnie Walker brand whiskey ad campaign, of all thing. The original game was developed in Germany. 'Moorhuhn' means grouse, probably because Johnnie Walker is a Scottish whiskey brand and hunting grouses in moors is a thing there? Since the original game was free and the internet was becoming a widespread household thing just then it saw massive success and spawned a lot of merchandise of its own, including additional games from almost all genres.
It was kind of a crazy here in Germany. White collar workers used to share the game via EMAIL since the filesize was only about 1mb. Guess gdp even dropped for a few months.

35:31 Actually the guncon1 does work on Japanese version of Elemental Gearbolt. I had no problems playing the game on my Fat ps2 scph 5000. For those few dozen people that need or want to go this route.
Hakaider Last Judgement game served as a story sequel to the 1995 movie which was a reboot of the Hakaider villain character from the 1972 Android Kikaider TV series of which George Lucas said that Hakaider was used as inspiration for creating Darth Vader in Star Wars. Elemental Gearbolt had a deluxe edition that came with a metal suitcase and a gold gun which goes for insane prices now on the used market.
There's a boatload of "Easter Egg Hunt" videos about Silent Hill out there with repeating content. I have never heard about the lightgun easter egg in that game. This is why I like Game Sack. I always discover new things every episode they make.
Rescue Shot Bubibo was also released in Europe as Rescue Shot. It was also a fairly common game, I had it... as a bootleg. It used to be sold everywhere as a Pokémon game for the Playstation!
Crypt Killer did come out for the Saturn in the US, I have a copy of it. Also for Lethal Enforcers on PS1, I used composite on an old CRT and it worked better then RGB on my PVM.
Fun fact: Área 51 ran on the COJAG, which was a improved Atari Jaguar and all of the aliens and zombies are actually stop-motion models. Maximum Force also ran on the COJAG as well ;-)
Joe, you need to play S.C.U.D. with TWO light guns if you want to stand a chance. Play with another player or just yourself with 2 light guns "Akimbo" style. Give the game another chance, it's really fun.
Nappa: "Vegeta, what does the scouter say about the number of flashes on screen?!" Vegeta: *is having a seizure* Nappa: "Vegeta, that's not the right meme and you know it!"
I remember the arcade version of Crypt Killer having an absolutely insanely large arcade unit, even for wide-screen light-gun games of the time. I was always disappointed we never got home ports by Sega for the first two Jurassic Park games and The Ocean Hunter and Lets Go Jungle, those are by far my favorite gun games of all time, if not some of my favorite games of all time. I would love to see a on-rails spin-off/hidden mini-game adaption of the TimeSplitters series.
I loved my official Gcon45 Time Crisis and Point Blank, man was set for light gun goodness with those 2. And that light gun was amazing, even had a 2nd gun, a cool knock off of it with the recoiling/kick back top slide
Arcade by my house used to do all night free-play for 30$ on new years eve, those were time crisis (and shadows over mystara) days. As an aside, you know about the player 2 foot pedal, right? Plug a regular controller into port 2 and it will double as the reload/cover button. If you have an old janky controller you don't mind stepping on you can have the "authentic arcade experience!" (as well as a d-pad imbedded in your foot)
I wonder if any else remembers an arcade game called "Sharpshooter", which is a carnival-themed game that involves shooting at targets in all kinds of games based on various themes such as pirates, haunted houses, aliens, etc.
I would absolutely love it if Namco released a guncon collection. It would have a wireless force feedback guncon like the one in the arcades, PB1,2,3 and Time Crises.
The way it shows the cursor from the gun, is the way the CRT draws the screen. It goes left to right, drawing one scanline, then moving to the next line. The gun would've been so accurate, it could check if it's seeing light on a certain scanline, when the ray tube is drawing a certain pixel, instead of flashing a light every frame.
Geez, six years after going the SuperScope and NES Zapper and we finally get to the 32-bit light gun games? What have you guys been doing all this time?
@@penguinreloaded7756 That actualy isn't true. I've beaten the Dreamcast version many times, and as far as I know there's no port of HOTD1 to the Dreamcast. Bit of a shame, though. It would have looked a lot better than the mess that was the Saturn release.

if you fire your first 3 shots into the first 3 police officers you see on the first level of area 51, you turn into a zombie and play levels fighting the police. some dude showed me this in the arcade back in liek 98 and it blew my mind so hard

That ManxTT port was pretty average. How amazing could it have been if the Saturn Sega Rally team did the port?
