I bought a Lynx back when it came out, and my brothers and I had a lot of fun with it. Mine came with _Blue Lightning_ packed in. I beat that game several times. It wasn't a particularly difficult game, and it was really pretty great at the time for an Afterburner type game on a console. _Xenophobe_ was a good port of the arcade game. _Desert Strike_ was good. _Stun Runner_ and _Hydra_ were big games for us. _Chip's Challenge_ was one we enjoyed, and _Klax_ was good as far as "connect three" puzzle games go. _Todd's Adventures in Slime World_ had several different game modes, and some of them were much more fun than others. _Warbirds_ had good and challenging dogfighting if you selected the correct settings. It was much more of a simulation than _Blue Lightning,_ and thus not really the same type of game at all. I remember _Steel Talons_ being a good game for the Lynx. _Shadow of the Beast_ was a very faithful port with excellent graphics for the Lynx, but of course kept its mega-difficulty. _Toki_ was a very faithful port of the arcade game, and played excellently, but the limited continues and no saves/passwords made if very difficult to beat. _Dracula the Undead_ was fine for a point and click adventure, but it was really too short. If felt as though it was just the first part of a game. Games for the Lynx tended to either be very faithful ports of arcade (and occasionally computer) games or to feel like they were the start of a good game that failed to include all the originally intended content. The way they talked about it at the time, the Lynx was successful and profitable for Atari, but they failed to fully capitalize on it. They were determined to produce the Jaguar and make a success at that, but it faced much stiffer competition than the Lynx. I remember that a number of game publications thought that Atari would have been better off concentrating on good games for the Lynx and possibly creating a successor for it. It seemed like they would release another good game only when they started running out of money.
I was a proud owner of one of the first GameBoy systems. In its time the yellow-green screen was acceptable because it was portable. I got really excited about the full color and FX, but the low rez gave me pause. It was battery eater so that made the portability moot. I still have it but also bought a Gameboy when the Lynx failed to gain any decent library.
The 2- or even 3-layers of parallax-scrolling in the most games is really impressive for such an old thing! But the Lynx was way to expensive and they released not enough good games. A friend owned it in the early 90's (rich parents!) but we rather played SNES and Megadrive back then...
Time for family is super important. Much respect. You two have been a great team and Game Sack episodes are probably my favorite channel on UA-cam for pure pleasure (hope that didn't sound weird). You'll be missed, Dave. Always enjoyed your quips on the games you played.

There is something about the mis-match of the really powerful scaling and sprite capability and the low color selection and resolution that made the developers do some interesting stuff.
I believe that as a handheld it only used conventional batteries that didn't last very long at all, probably one of it's biggest flaws. That certainly stopped me from purchasing one.

I always wondered why you were holding off on the NES episode. Gonna miss you Mr. White, all the best man.
All the best Dave and all the best Joe!

This is your chance, Johnny, you gotta join Joe as the next co-host of Game Sack!
@@Jordan3DS happy console sacks has a good ring to it.

Duck down behind mail box. No more building explosion damage. Batman returns
A new game sack episode - :D
Dave announces he's leaving - D:
I was a big Lynx fan when I was 14 or so (when it was pretty new still). I even busted out graph paper for games like Electrocop and Slime World, which for me really increased the immersion by spending some quality time mapping out and learning those worlds. Different times those were!
just picked one up in 2022
never had one before but long-time atari fan
seller included a flashcart with the complete library , replaced all capacitors, and lcd screen swap
Wow. Didn't expect that!
Dave, thank you so much for all your hard work! It's been an amazing run and I wish you all the best for the future!
Thank you Dave for all the hard work you put into so many episodes over the years. You will be missed! Best wishes to you and your family, and good luck to Joe flying solo!
My favorite lynx games are Rygar, gates of zendocon, scapyard dog, turbo sub, hydra , klax and blue light ning.
This system was very advanced for the 80's
Great choice of games. 80's is technically correct (launched September 1989), definitely an 90's handheld though.
@@ianwalters451 thanks.
Wel let's make it early nineties. It was my second gaming machine after the c64. It was really impressive back then.
Please don't leave Dave! You guys are my favorite show! Thank you for all your hard work. I know how stuff it is to maintain a channel. I couldn't even do it for a month.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into Game Sack Dave. I am sad to see you go, but totally understand. You need to put your family and well being ahead of keeping us nostalgic nerds happy. I'm going to continue watching Game Sack, and look forward to guest appearances in the future.
Also Dave... The last couple episodes I sensed your heart wasn’t really in it. When that happens it’s best to move on. I hope you make some guest appearances now and then but focus on what makes you happy. Thanks for the great memories... Wait, I just realized we’re stuck with Joe now... HOW COULD YOU DAVE?????
Now cracks a noble heart. Good night sweet David: And flights of angels sing thee to thy NES! - Shakespeare (Probably)
Damn dude, it’s gonna be a tough watch without Dave. You guys are awesome together. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors good sir, and thanks for all the great episodes
I still have it but also bought a Gameboy when the Lynx failed to gain any decent library.
best of luck Dave and may your life with family be filled only with happiness and love.... NOTHING is more precious than family.
Ah shoot... We're all gonna miss you Dave! Best of luck on your future endeavors!!!
😥
The 2- or even 3-layers of parallax-scrolling in the most games is really impressive for such an old thing! But the Lynx was way to expensive and they released not enough good games. A friend owned it in the early 90's (rich parents!) but we rather played SNES and Megadrive back then...
Going to miss you Dave. Thanks so much for your time.
The show won't be the same without you, Dave.
Love ya, Dave, thanks for all the laughs. You're alright too, Joe.
Nooo my favorite couple on UA-cam is breaking up : (
Its like when Handsome Tom left Stuttering Craig.

Time for family is super important. Much respect. You two have been a great team and Game Sack episodes are probably my favorite channel on UA-cam for pure pleasure (hope that didn't sound weird). You'll be missed, Dave. Always enjoyed your quips on the games you played.
I'm really going to miss you Dave, Game Sack won't be the same without you. Thank you so much for the years of great entertainment you gave us and I wish you the best!
Without Dave is not going to be the same, not worse or better, just different.
Anyway, I hope Dave enjoys his family and his life as he wants and more. If someday wants to come back, we'll recieve him with open arms :)
Joe should find another partner
best of luck, dave!
I am actually impressed with the graphical capabilities of the Lynx
Joey JoJo - It was truly amazing for the time!
There is something about the mis-match of the really powerful scaling and sprite capability and the low color selection and resolution that made the developers do some interesting stuff.

Truly an under appreciated device at the time. I used to have one and now I wish I had another...
I believe that as a handheld it only used conventional batteries that didn't last very long at all, probably one of it's biggest flaws. That certainly stopped me from purchasing one.
Damn the end of an era!!! 8 years of Dave... but Gamesack will survive, that's right Joe?
Dave is such a swell guy, things will not be the same without him. He should start a vlog series of his time with his family.
This has always been one of my favorite shows and Dave will be missed. I'll still be watching though. Hopefully he can show up from time to time.
The legend will never die and the soul still burns ;)
Godspeed, Dave. We'll miss you!

Thank you Dave for everything you did to entertain us and review games.I'm grateful to get to meet you guys at PRGE 2015.I'm the guy with the Mario shirt who gifted you guys the amiibo's.
So long Dave, good luck finding a copy of Snatcher out there.
So is Playing with Sacks now just going to be Playing with Sack? That just sounds sad
Really should have included APB, Rampage, & Rampart... very very good conversions.
Good luck Dave! Thanks for all the laughs and fun times. Wish you the best!
Gonna miss you Dave, thanks to you (and Joe) for all the years of entertainment. Great stuff, funny and informative. Plus you saved me a fortune as your trips down memory lane, are enough to stop me developing a massive retro habit of my own.
Dave shouldn't disappear just be like 'taker.... wheel him out a few times a year for the big shows!
Lynx was sooo cool when it first came out! It was so powerful, but nobody had it :( I wanted one so bad
We'll miss you, Dave. And whats going to happen to the after end credits scenes without Dave?
Perhaps Jen will step in?
saizerboy - Joe has learned how to clone himself from Classic Game Room and “Nintendo Joe” will keep trying to steal that Snatcher. Oh, and Greendog....
