Dude you are the man. I just gotta let you know how much I appreciate you being by far the most dedicated content creator I follow. Other folks release a single video every few weeks and complain about how long it takes to edit and how they don’t have time and blah blah blah while you somehow backpack all over the globe and pump out almost a video per day while constantly on the move.

@@greggbambu411 yeah. Some put drone shots (which can be nice too) and fancy editing/ effects, so those take more time. Gabe makes relatively simple vids, so it's easier to edit. I also like that he's releasing vids almost in real time now (just 1 or 2 days behind, not weeks) and we're kinda like travelling with him in his present trip.

Hi Gabriel. I've been following you since the beginning of the pandemic and have very much enjoyed your videos and style of travel. In March of 2007 I was in Darjeeling in the middle of an 18 month trip. What a great place and glad to see you like it too. I didn't get to Sikkim and look forward to that video. One of my favorite towns, after three months of touring India, was Kalimpong, which will be on your way to Sikkim. It's a little lower in elevation so warmer. There were a few things there that really made an impression. One was the Buddhist monastery on the top of the hill--past the golf course. Also there was a great little local market called the Hat market--the name of the local people. It may have been only one or two days a week and was like no other market I'd been to. Another fascinating place was a Cactus garden. I know it seems weird but Cacti were the passion of this man and he had a collection in 5 or 6 greenhouses-- like nothing I've ever seen. This is coming from someone who lived in Arizona for 40 years. I'm not sure if he's still alive but his family may have continued it. He had an unbelievable collection from places all over the world--So. America etc.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with Nicolas & Helena Roerich. He was a great Russian artist the they lived in the Kulu Valley for many years. After her husband's death, she moved to Kalimpong and there is a little stupa over her ashes next to the monastery. There is also a residence which I believe can be visited. Although I was aware of the Roerichs before visiting, I did not know Helena had lived there until after I returned so never visited.
It was very cold and foggy in Darjeeling so, unfortunately, views of Everest from Tiger Hill were not possible. There was a peek-a-boo look at Kanchenjunga on the ride to Kalimpong. In fact, this was the coldest place of all my travels and I needed to wear just about every item of clothing I carried. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy going along on your walks and it brings me to places I've always wanted to see. Thank you!

Gab, I am not sure whether you can see Mt. Everest from Darjeeling town unless you go to Sandakphu (Highest peak in West Bengal). However, in a clear day Darjeeling can offer you the best 180 degree view of Mt. Kanchanjangha which can be seen from any part of Darjeeling. You can also see the peak from Gangtok, Sikkim but the view is not as good as Darjeeling. I personally feel Kanchanjangha looks more beautiful than Everest.

Awesome to see recent footage of the town. Thanks. It's one of my favourite places that I've visited. Veg momos with chili sauce were the food that I enjoyed the most over there. Not sure if you've tried them there, I haven't yet watched the full vid so I don't know if they are mentioned.

As you are going to gangtok, try n visit gurudongmar lake in north sikkim. Thats heaven. But I don't know if the roads will b open in winter. I was born n brought up in siliguri. Spent first 18 years of my life there. So glad you are visiting my areas. Enjoy.

Thank you Gabriel, so niece to see Darjeeling after so many years. If you'll find time visit Everest Museum and pay respect to Tenzing Norgay- his grave/memorial is in Darjeeling, eat some Momos too. Singalila Ridge is a nice trekking while in Sikkim. All the best enjoy.

From what i remember in order to see Everest you have to get up before sunrise cos when the sun rises evaporation causes the clouds to arise and block the view for the rest of the day,and you only have about half an hour window

I was up right at sunrise, you'll see in the next video. You could barely see the peaks, there was haze even at that time. Apparently it's clearer in fall and spring.

Darjeeling is famous for its tea . Tea seeds brought from China were planted there and seeds from those tea bushes were brought to Sri Lanka.
