Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
I forgot to show the price of the thukpa soup and masala dosa. It was 170 rupees total or $2 USD.
What is the name of the hotel you are staying at? I am planning to visit Darjeeling next week from Bangladesh.
and how was the food?
@@deccatraveler Norbu Thungkar Homestay, I recommend it.
@@vinay11163 It was delish, the perfect food for a chilly day in the Himalayas.
Incredible. All of that food for $2!
I, being born and brought up in Kolkata, never visited Darjeeling. Now, I'm at my 70 visiting Darjeeling with an American.
Thanks Gabriel.
Dude you are the man. I just gotta let you know how much I appreciate you being by far the most dedicated content creator I follow. Other folks release a single video every few weeks and complain about how long it takes to edit and how they don’t have time and blah blah blah while you somehow backpack all over the globe and pump out almost a video per day while constantly on the move.
Some people put a lot of time and effort into the editing and cinematography. Gabe keeps it simple, so he's able to pump out more videos.
Agree ! A very hard working man !
@@greggbambu411 yeah. Some put drone shots (which can be nice too) and fancy editing/ effects, so those take more time. Gabe makes relatively simple vids, so it's easier to edit. I also like that he's releasing vids almost in real time now (just 1 or 2 days behind, not weeks) and we're kinda like travelling with him in his present trip.
So true. Gabriel is the real deal!
Gabriel’s authentic, “slice of life” videos deserve 10x more views than they get
No one else on youtube is as consistent as Gabriel, nothing but quality videos everyday,.
I agree and when he gets to 600k subscribers then I think it will rapidly grow to 1million.
He deserves it.
Gabrielle , So proud to see you contributing to the street musicians ! You are the only You Tuber I watch , that I have seen , do that ! There are other things you do that make you special , as well . Thank you for your consistently quality videos !
Gabe I stop everything I am doing and watch your video................all your videos are fantastic

Loved the street busker. Thanks for taking a minute to let us hear his beautiful music.
Gabe you are knocking it out of the park with the Bangladesh/ India videos!!!!
Great, glad to hear it.
Gabriel, I've never been so hooked on your videos and I've been watching you for 6 years. These last couple of months have been your best videos yet! You've got me excited about my next India trip! You're an inspiration Gabe. Greetings from England!
I first discovered your channel in 2015 when I was researching an India trip. On that trip I unexpectedly ended up going to Darjeeling and Sikkim (Pelling, Gantok and Yuksom), and to this day it has been one of my favourite parts of India. I have been waiting for you to go there for years ha ha. Loved the video it brought back some wonderful memories.
Cool, looking forward to Sikkim.
Gabriel rarely smiles but seeing wine he did 👍👍
love you bro … no one could have covered the crown 👑 of Bengal Darjeeling, the cool Gorkha lifestyle and the rhythm of the city better than you! every turn a new discovery, joy and peace dripping in every moment of your life … every moment you win, when strolling in Darjeeling 💟💐💟
Hi Gabriel. I've been following you since the beginning of the pandemic and have very much enjoyed your videos and style of travel. In March of 2007 I was in Darjeeling in the middle of an 18 month trip. What a great place and glad to see you like it too. I didn't get to Sikkim and look forward to that video. One of my favorite towns, after three months of touring India, was Kalimpong, which will be on your way to Sikkim. It's a little lower in elevation so warmer. There were a few things there that really made an impression. One was the Buddhist monastery on the top of the hill--past the golf course. Also there was a great little local market called the Hat market--the name of the local people. It may have been only one or two days a week and was like no other market I'd been to. Another fascinating place was a Cactus garden. I know it seems weird but Cacti were the passion of this man and he had a collection in 5 or 6 greenhouses-- like nothing I've ever seen. This is coming from someone who lived in Arizona for 40 years. I'm not sure if he's still alive but his family may have continued it. He had an unbelievable collection from places all over the world--So. America etc.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with Nicolas & Helena Roerich. He was a great Russian artist the they lived in the Kulu Valley for many years. After her husband's death, she moved to Kalimpong and there is a little stupa over her ashes next to the monastery. There is also a residence which I believe can be visited. Although I was aware of the Roerichs before visiting, I did not know Helena had lived there until after I returned so never visited.
It was very cold and foggy in Darjeeling so, unfortunately, views of Everest from Tiger Hill were not possible. There was a peek-a-boo look at Kanchenjunga on the ride to Kalimpong. In fact, this was the coldest place of all my travels and I needed to wear just about every item of clothing I carried. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy going along on your walks and it brings me to places I've always wanted to see. Thank you!
I was there in Oct 2015, we were lucky to get some amazing views in the morning, then it got hazy, I loved Darjeeling and Sikkim still one of my favourite places.
I just want to tell you Gabe that these recent videos are just blowing my mind. You are THE BEST. I have tried watching other travelers on UA-cam. What makes yours so incredibly special and different than all the others is that you turn the camera OUTWARD. The other's I've seen always have the camera pointed at their face. HUGE difference. I want to see the world, which is why I follow you. And a huge thank you for posting so often. I am so grateful to you for all the work you do. Your Bangladesh and Kolkata vids have been stunning. I am so happy you are going to Bhutan. stay safe.
This times a million. All the other travel youtubers are complete narcissists
I loved watching this! I've never been to Asia, but it's kind of amazing how a lot of developing countries look so similar, at least in terms of the construction of buildings and business districts. It almost reminds me of Peru and Guatemala to a degree, the way that the construction looks.
As a student in Mumbai,I read about Darjeeling.thank you for the tour of the area.
I remember the day,Mount Everest was conquered in 1953. I saw tenzing Norgay in Mumbai a few years later.
You’ve been hitting it out of the park with the videos on this trip, traveling off the beaten path to fascinating places and making it seem kind of doable for people who aren’t as experienced as you. I know that between traveling, exploring, filming and editing you’re working really hard and I wanted to let you know that it’s appreciated.
Excellent, glad to hear it.
I've been ordering tea from one of the small local Darjeeling Tea businesses for a long time now. Getting to see the city of Darjeeling in your video is just wonderful. Thank you very much for your hard work!
Yet a another magic locale. You are making good choices on this journey, Bangladesh included.
I visited Darjeeling twice last year once in March then again in August. Good to c u went there, great place, it's a place of emotion for the ppl of South Bengal. No matter how many times a person from Kolkata goes there it's always so nostalgic. Watching this video makes me feel I am there & listening to Bengali in the background in your video. Must try the breakfast in Keventers, dinner in Glenarys & evening Tibetian dish in Kunga very famous among the Indian's visiting Darjeeling.
Omg ❤
Darjeeling is love !!!!!!
Darjeeling is a hill-top town just like Shimla in North India. That's why the beauty of the place so exquisite. And the train is a toy-train, as it is called. A bit, well no, a lot crowded, though it's not been able to take away the beauty of the place. Wish you all happy moments spent in the hilly parts of our country. And thanks for upholding the mesmerizing hills of eastern parts of India. 👍👍👍💐💐💐
Wow what a view from your room. The song the busker was playing you hear everywhere in Nepal. Think it's called Resham Firiri.
Brilliant vid Gabriel, Darjeeling looks ❤️ thank you for sharing all the way to 🇬🇧🙏👍
I was finally able to catch up on with your south Asian videos. I went on a binge of them during the ice storm we had here in Texas this week. Enjoyed all of them, but I am really loving this trip to these Himalayan foothills towns. So much character and uniqueness. And the food looks really yummy.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed.
I comeback to see your video as I plan to go to Darjeeling next month. 😊
Hey Gabriel ! So happy to see you explore different parts of India !
Always wanted you to see eastern side of it and now it's actually happening yeah! Darjeeling is awesome a little crowded but it's cool , I visited Darj in 2017 then on to Gangtok which is my favourite Chilly place its a little colder than Darj ofcourse but then again you have to experience it. Let's go!
-Your friend from India!
Nothing beats waking up to another one of Gabriel's travel adventure!
@9:33 What a lovely sight. So real, vibrant and colorful. I hope Kolkata will not change, frozen in time, even when I will visit after many years the Calcutta I grew up with. Thank you Gabe
Gabe u seem as excited to eat there as u r at the many places u gave eaten in the past many years u have been vlogging. Your passion is still fresh
Back in the old days, while working as a part time student, treated myself with a symbolic set of burgundy lingerie from a boutique called "Darjeeling". Had been to South Africa a couple of years prior & here I was, a couple of years later already dreaming of farther away, exotic places... India was, still is & will forever be my sweet spot. 🥰 Thank you for the wonderful series in India!
Wow Gabriel, how beautiful in Darjeeling. And I have been following you for quite a while now. What a fun coincidence to discover you are in India while I am there too as I write, today February 4, in Rishikesh. Today I drive back to Delhi and then a 20 day tour thru Rajasthan. Sooo beautiful. I will follow you throughout my journey here. Have a good one again, love your movies.
Hans from Holland
Right on, have a great trip. Rajasthan is amazing. I recommend Pushkar, Keechen, Jaisalmer, Khuri, Udaipur and Chittorgarh.
Thanks Gabriel, Keechen and Khuri are not yet on my itinerary, so I will ask my driver to search for possibilities. Udaipur is absolutely my favorite for this trip. And as for your trip, it is beautiful in those regions and I plan a trip there next year. India is highly addictive, what a sensational and astonishing world it is. And like I said every day I watch your beautiful movies, thanks for all your efforts you put in it.
Another Wonderful and fantastic clips from the amazing Gabe 😃✌️
Madera means alchol in hindi and Nepali language. It's spelled as 'Madira' but they probably did on purpose to make consumers think its an imported wine from Spain.
Thanks!
Hey thanks a lot Mara, I appreciate it. 👍✌😊
@@GabrielTravelerVideos you are welcome! Gives me a chance to give a little extra from time to time! Glad you have that option. Thank you Gabriel, take care 🙂 🙏
A blessed good day sir Gabe Wowwww 😍 do nice New travel Video adventure I'm Darjeeling, Himalayas, thank u so much for your wonderful walk around tour Godbless 😍 stay safe from your solid fan supporter from the Philippines 🇵🇭 sir Marvin 😍🙏🙂🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👍
Looks so clean and bustling! And they're generous with the food portions! ~ Always a good sign ^^
I pause whatever I am doing just to watch your next adventure on the edge of my chair. Keeping up with u is incredible!
try to make your way to the golden temple this time around. it will do wonders for your followers even though you may not wanna go yourself.
I definitely want to go. Too many places to see in India so it's taking a while to get to them all. Not sure if I'll make it there this trip, we shall see.
Looks like a wonderful place soo pretty 😍
Great video Gabe 👍👍. Thanks for getting these videos out to us so fast ✌️
This place is a serious rabbit hole.. keep crawling Gabe excellent work. Quench the curiosity! Good energy in Darjeeling!
Really cool place. I honestly don’t see a future where places like this won’t get more and more popular with tourists. This is why you travel.
There are thousands of miles of Himalayan foothills in India, and lots of tiny towns and hill stations that have not become overcrowded. Darjeeling and Shimla are really cramped now, but lots of other places are not.
interestingly in this video there seem to be a lot less tourists than when I went in 2015
@@stevenponte6655 Were you there at the same time of year? I suspect Gabe is there in low season. One usually associates hill stations with summer.
Oh my goodness, what an incredible place!!!😍
Thank you so much for sharing these amazing videos, it is so appreciated, especially during this dreary time of year in the suburbs of Maryland 👍🏻🥰🙏
This video has exceeded my expectations as usual. 👊
Excellent.
hi Gabriel, just discovered your channel and want to tell you that really like the style of your video - your camera is the the extension of my eyes, almost felt like being in the scene myself. A BIG 👍!
17:53 Nataraja ... Shiva in Dancing form ... Avalokitesvara is form of Bodhisatva (Buddhist)
I've been on the other side of the Himalayas, but this brings back memories. Similar environments.
Such a nice part of the world.
I think I could live there.
The food is something that would have me there in a flash. So good.
Keep those videos coming Gabriel 😃😎☀️
Definitely. Just finished the next one.
These videos are incredible, such diverse people
Thanks, Gabe, Love this part of the world!
As you mentioned Ghum from where you walked up to the tiger hill, it has the highest railway station in India, at an altitude of 2,258 metres.
Wow, didn't realize that. I'll show it in the next video.
Sweet, this is looking good! I’m up the road really-just arrived in Tosh, Parvati Valley yesterday from Delhi. It -8°c at night!
Yowza, that's pretty chilly. You know about the hot springs at Manikaran?
@@GabrielTravelerVideos yh, gonna head down there on the way back before moving south.
I’m seeing the world through your eyes! Thank you
Thank you for visiting. Couple of pointers worth looking for someone planning to visit. CAN'T MAKE BULLET POINTS BUT COULD ADD OVER A LITTLE MORE COVERED ON VIDEOS: 1. Thuk-pa as pronounced, is eaten after mixing them on served bowl with the chutney they present and depends on which shop you visit - prepared your ownnnn ways.
If Travelling from Bagdogra: in 90 mins, worth looking at which route was followed as you reached too early
The flower market would have been during festival season ( Dashera and Diwal), the street songs,

++++ Nice walk n digging around.
Guessing at the probable stay: the other side of the town.
Knowledge n research on the destination, searches n proof of colonial rule with follow back on the origins,. Nice
What a life. Different location every day. How exciting 😊!
Nice! You can take a look at the hilarious description of Darjeeling by Mark Twain when he visited it around year 1900. It can be found in his book "Following the equator". I can send you the relevant pages electronically if you care to read.
Looks like he enjoyed India: steemit.com/history/@norbu/humor-travels-to-the-himalayas-mark-twain-s-visit-to-darjeeling-in-1896
11:20 You passed a general surgeon a cardiologist an ENT specialist and a general practitioner all working out of a small hole in the wall clinic space.
Take advantage of the pharmacies there and pick up some generic meds and antibiotics on the cheap.
The goddess with veena (not sitar,) is most likely Saraswati.
Thank you for taking us on your journeys . I absolutely loved this video
Great! These streets just like in some streets in my country SABAH BORNEO....👍
I love this market.. still watching
Gabriel..love love love the Indian and Bangladesh vids..so vibrant..Darjeeling is quite special, i was there a few years ago and took the train to the Bastia Loop..you can walk there in a hour or so..
Love watching you in INDIA DUDE!
Looks like a lot more tourists there. So interesting to see. Thanks
Gabe you deserve 10 million subscriber
Loving your vlog from Darjeeling, been there previous month. You are really a explorer. You are showing us places even we as usual tourist have never been too. Best wishes for you ❤️❤️
Heaven on Earth❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for showing us❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the wonderful impressions Sir.
I'm pumped for this one
Wow! That food looks good!enjoy👍
The song at the end was amazing!
On a clear day it must be magnificent!!! I think a hillstaion town would be a good choice if living in India.
Most likely. It is a temple and not a Buddhist pagoda. Temples in this region as well as in Nepal, have this style of gopuram ( the high structure above the sanctum Santorum).
A real passionate traveler! 😃
The advertisement saying has Peaks Painted in Gold is really Awesome.
Gab, I am not sure whether you can see Mt. Everest from Darjeeling town unless you go to Sandakphu (Highest peak in West Bengal). However, in a clear day Darjeeling can offer you the best 180 degree view of Mt. Kanchanjangha which can be seen from any part of Darjeeling. You can also see the peak from Gangtok, Sikkim but the view is not as good as Darjeeling. I personally feel Kanchanjangha looks more beautiful than Everest.
Apparently you can barely see it from Tiger Hill.
Thank you Gabriel, so niece to see Darjeeling after so many years. If you'll find time visit Everest Museum and pay respect to Tenzing Norgay- his grave/memorial is in Darjeeling, eat some Momos too. Singalila Ridge is a nice trekking while in Sikkim. All the best enjoy.
Lots of things to keep your senses moving!
Like this town 😍 is so beautiful and interesting, those markets and been able to walk and enjoy everything love it, the view from the hotel amazing, do they have summer ??🤔
Great Video. Cheers!
hello from Liverpool
Nice, Darjeeling is the queen of hills !
I hope the views clear up so you can enjoy the mountains!
Same here, hoping it will happen one of these days.
You missed so many things like Darjeeling toy train ride and Ropeway ride, also the Sightseeings of darjeeling like tiger hill ,batasia loop, ghum Monastery, japanese peace pagoda, tenjing rock, happy valley tea estate etc.
There will be more videos, this was just a tour of the town.

Welcome to queen of hill.. welcome to our place Darjeeling brother.good to see you gabe..
St. Paul's School, Darjeeling is also known as 'Eton of the West' because it follows the culture and tradition of Eton College, England. The music faculty of the school sens exams to be graded by Trinity College, London.
You mean "Eton of the East".
Darjeeling my dream place, Thank you Gaba, i am always waiting for your videos like morning newspapers. Thank you thank you 🙏🙏✌️💚
Love you Gabby... you are fantastic ... from your ardent fan
intresting mixture of people, the roads and buildings are very cool
Ooo Darjeeling looks AMAZING! So clean and the folks all look like Nepalese or Tibetan! Can’t wait to see more of this part of India as it somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. Thank you for all your hard work Gabe ❤️
They all are indian.
All the states of northeast india and himalayan foothills are mongloid feature indian and they are indigeneous to india.
they are neither … they are the Gorkha community, a race of brave and fearless warriors
No they don't. They look Indian. India is very diverse and there's not one Indian look
@@ARNABOSSfunny, gorkha is Nepal, gorkhali is nepali, darjiling under sikkim chogyal detested gorkha rule, ur ancestors fought against gorkhali in Anglo gorkha war.

Woah 😳 That soup dish looks like the ultimate comfort food. Nice one ☝️
Back to my favorite country
Awesome to see recent footage of the town. Thanks. It's one of my favourite places that I've visited. Veg momos with chili sauce were the food that I enjoyed the most over there. Not sure if you've tried them there, I haven't yet watched the full vid so I don't know if they are mentioned.
As you are going to gangtok, try n visit gurudongmar lake in north sikkim. Thats heaven. But I don't know if the roads will b open in winter. I was born n brought up in siliguri. Spent first 18 years of my life there. So glad you are visiting my areas. Enjoy.
Great video, Gabriel :) just wanted to point out that “mall” areas in Indian hill stations are just an acronym for Military Accommodation and Living Lines, afaik, as these areas used to house military personnel and their families.
I see, interesting, I never realized that.
Gabe, thx for the information. I am planning to visit this part of India next time I am in the country which I think will be this coming fall. So very timely, so thx
Thukpa and masala dosa , oh yes please , its been a while , enjoy . Great to see the train still operating too
