The best view I had of Kanchanjunga was above the clouds, on an afternoon flight from Delhi to Guwahati. A window seat, a clear sky, with sun shining bright on the snowy peaks, even in middle of June. The pilot was kind enough to make an announcement. Uninterrupted 15-20 minutes I can never forget.
In the immortal words of Mick Jagger, … “But if you try sometime you'll find You get what you need.” Although the weather wasn’t ideal the journey was intriguing and worthwhile. Thank you!
GEEZ 10 miles per hour and then garbage smoke and vomit. Thats enough to be upset! Still you showed grace throughout the arduous day! Happy you got to see a little bit of the peaks. Safest travels with everything that awaits you!
I love seeing these little mountain villages despite not getting the views you wanted. I've always wanted to spend a couple months just staying in one of these villages and exploring every nook and cranny.
No doubt. I look forward to going back when the skies are clearer and exploring further. It would be pretty cool to cross the border from there into Nepal and then go do the EBC.
Really enjoyed watching your videos despite the fog... sorry the sun refused to reveal the mountains...still very interesting seeing all the villages near the foothills 🙂✨🎵
It is because of rain & poor infrastructure in hilly areas. Though govt is investing money in building roads & bridges it also pollutes air as the construction works take place.
The hot garbage smoke and window story did make me literally laugh out loud, I’m sorry to admit. Only because I can relate so much. I swear those moments are the ones that stick in our brains forever. You’re good about trying public transport or shared ways of travel. In the back of my mind I’m always quick to consider how much of my energy I’m willing to devote vs the savings, and my energy wins it most of the time! Thanks so much for sharing! Happy travels!

It was a great experience to see your trip to the Himalayas in this part of India. It can be said that only a clear sunny day can make the sense of Himalayan heavenly bliss unforgettable. Which is as difficult as reaching the top of Everest.
I don't think we will see this place if it is wasn't you. All if not 99% of us won't go through these uncertainty/challenges to travel here so THANK YOU so much for doing this.

Sounds like i might have felt that way during your garbage dire/puking situation… thank you for sharing. Sucks about the view up in the mountains but that is the way the spilled milk crumbles…
These places are best enjoyed by choosing one spot and renting an apartment + motorbike for 1 month. I understand that it doesn't fit your job but if you use most of your time for the worst aspect of this area (intercity travel) of course your experience will be wanting.
That was whole day downhill travelling, must've been so exhausting and I guess you're going to Chennai. If you're going there you may as well visit Rameshwaram Island its very close to Mannar (Sri Lanka).
I commend you for not puking as well. (Or am I assuming too much here?) Thanks for having some trouble so that I don't hate myself when I have trouble during my travels.
Hello Gabe, your last 2 weeks spent in India have truly been an epic adventure. Just seeing the majestic mountain peaks with fresh snow was worth the wait after 9-10 days of rain and hazey conditions where you could'nt see much in front of you. Planning to visit India very soon and have 4 weeks to travel to destinations people can only dream about. Hopefully I can visit Darjeeling & Gangtok because I've seen the success you had in travelling there.
Should have gone straight from Sikkim to Siliguri, skipped Darjeeling. But would have missed out on the crazy 'adventure' Truly a rough (read great) end to an EPIC trip. NEXT.

Hi Gabriel, if there is any comfort thinking about what travelers in the past had to do to get to the areas you traveled to must have been daunting. No cars no trains they had to climb great lengths with horse or mule regardless of what we think your Tek is mild in comparison. This is why anyone can move to locations because goods and services can now be provided without too much of a hitch. Looking back at the giant Buddha statue that went to see the other day from the perspective that the stairs represent levels of consciousness and when you reach the top of the stairs you reach Nirvana the highest level of enlightenment.
I guess I don't have the stomach to travel as you do with the vagaries of travel: people puking, open windows in the cold; hours stuck in traffic; cows in the street. Those experiences would certainly negate many of the positives. Fortunately, I still get to see the places without having to endure the negatives.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos That"s great. One of the most exciting and mysterieus countries in the world. Can"t wait for the next video's. Stay safe there man...
Do you always reach a day earlier to the places you have booked flights from instead of getting there the same day? I once missed an important flight as I didn't want to waste a day of traveling.
All that time and effort to never see the famous Himalayan peaks. Question... do you ever get sick from the food in developing countries? If so, what remedies do you use to recover?
The view of a Himalayan mighty peak is never guranteed. Speially in Eastern part where it is usually more moist and humid. The best time to see a peak in Eastern Himalaya is late October and entire November. From Dec on wards cloud starts get gather again near those peaks. Best time is ofcourse morning.
