And as usual, another great video. I love the way you embrace Indian culture. I have seldom seen any foreigners going into temple, and you even close your eyes when the priest put tilak on your forehead. That speaks a lot about how much respect you have for tradition and culture of another country.
I'm quite impressed with or rather, I should say, surprised to see your command over so many Indian languages and knowledge about local religious and ethnic cultural varieties. I'm a Bengali hailing from a place near Kolkata, the state capital of West Bengal. I would certainly suggest you to visit the following places around Darjeeling city: 1. Batasia Loop, 2. Bhutia Basty Monastery, 3. Darjeeling Zoological Park, 4. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), 5. Tiger Hill View Point, 6. Japanese Peace Pagoda, 7. Rock Gardens, 8. Ghoom Monastery and DHR museum at Ghoom Rly Stn, 9. Mahakal Temple, 10. Darjeeling Ropeway station. You should also try some local cuisine like momo, taipo, thukpa with dalley khursani (chili chutney) and have some cookies from local bakeries. Enjoy your stay and travel in Darjeeling, brother! ❤
I spent 12 years in St Paul’s school from grades 1-12 - an absolute slice of heaven. Here are a few foodie recommendations- Momo’s from Penang - breakfast at Keventers and dinner at Glenarys’ - keep up the great work
Damn man you brought all those memories in front of my eyes I haven’t visit my hometown since very long time but soon going there ❤thank you for this video
I'm curious, what was the most unexpected or eye-opening experience you had during your travels? Keep up the amazing work, can't wait to see where you go next!
You should visit Tinchule, lamahata, lepchajagat, tagda, peshok, aholdhara,Kalimpong, Sitong. You can plan a day tour , which are very close to Darjeeling.
8:13 The direction you point is exactly the spot of mMt. Kangchenzonga, the 3rd highest peak across world. Since it's summer here it's covered in cloud cover, else you will have a spectacular view of how humongous it is! Glad you like Darjeeling Mac.
We were exactly where you are , in April so it was fun to revisit the same streets . Impressed by your tolerance of spice and street food . I go to Dekevas next to Kunga , both Tibetan restaurants up the mall, opposite Keventers and I have the Beef phing which is jelly noodles , dry and made spice free on request for me . Ask for more watercress in it .
Should visit Tiger Hill to experience the most beautiful Sunrise in the planet. I am from kolkata the capital of West Bengal. You should also visit the Dooars the place where the famous Darjeeling Tea comes from. Have a sip at the most exotic Darjeeling tea.
This is what vlogging is. Not all foreigners explore places like u do. I wasn't expecting u to visit the mahakaal temple tho lol , so happy u did. It's just you were destined to find it. So peaceful. Loved it. Enjoyed thoroughly
Mac the temple priest blessed you with long life , the painting on the wall was of a Red Panda the state animal of Sikkim and the heart means 'I love Darjeeling'.Lovely vlog.
One of the biggest culture shocks for me is the presence of english signage everywhere! I get why, but seeing it while taking in the surroundings is surreal. Loving the Darjeeling adventure. Completely different vibes than I was expecting, great video!
Huge respect Mac. You're really kind and generous and sweet for showing your respect for this indian lifestyle and culture. But you missed the main temple inside Mahakal Temple. Where there are Shrines of Lord Buddha and Lord Shiva. Thats the beauty of Mahakal Temple where Hindu Priest and Buddhist Lama both worshipping together. Beautiful place.
hey mac..if u see an indian looking person most likely they don’t understand or speak nepali..if u see an asian looking person they’ll understand and speak nepali..darjeeling used to be part of nepal back in the day..thats the reason majority of people there look and speak nepali..safe travels my friend.
Mac is our brother from another mother ❤ keep exploring bruhh you are doing underrated work...do visit himalayas states there is so much to see....except food we have mother nature ❤
It was around this time last year that I went to Darjeeling with my family and friends. Nostalgia is hitting me so hard! Although we couldn't see the clearer view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, or even the nearest hillocks due to the fog and rain through out, but still Darjeeling is beautiful in every way and everyday ❤
Hey Mac...you know that Alfred Ford have built the largest Temple in the world in "Mayapur"its a city in West Bengal itself...its mesmerizing.....u will find people from different parts of the world there.....u should visit it 😊
Street foods r too good there brother... But u shud try KUNGA just near the traffic point whole coming back from mall road... It's the best authetic tibetan dishes... Momos and more...
Hey Mac people pictures with you . Man you are already a celebrity now eh😃Darjeeling is so beautiful wow. Friendly people. Mac is a gentleman, humble, notice how courteously he greets everybody
Hello Mr. Mac, I have seen your 2-3 videos on Darjeeling. In this instant video you are roaming around Mahakal Market and observatory but alas.. I see that you couldn’t get a glimpse of the majestic Kanchenjunga (world’s 3rd highest peak) view (sleeping Buddha) for which this observatory as well as Darjeeling is famous in whole India. I wish you get a glimpse one day amidst your tour. 🤞
Driving down to Darjeeling tomorrow from Siliguri. It has been more like an annual ritual but cant deny that have been watching your Darjeeling videos all day today eversince I booked my stay 😃
@@worldnomac was my 8th time and enjoyed the most this time round. Got the clearest view of Mt Kanchenjunga. The sleeping Buddha was in its full glory 🗻
Would recommend Lepcha Jagat , a forest with guest houses not far from Darjeeling, Singalila cloud forest sanctuary and most of all , Kalimpong, far less crowded than Darjeeling . And very pretty . We stayed at Holumba which is a homestay in an orchid garden, not far from anything and the hosts can advise you on share cabs and so forth
Mac, thanks for taking down my memory lanes, much of which are unrecognizable now. I spent the first 25 years of my life in Darjeeling. Now I live in Chicago, not far from Kenosha. If you happen to be in Chicago, let me know and I promise you we will host to best momo's ( being Tibetans). Momo is a Tibetan word . 60 years ago, when Tibetans came as refugees in India, one they knew well was making momos and opening momo restuarents.
@World Nomac we would like to meet you in person as you are a great human being and we, me and my life, learn a lot just about new places but how candidly and considerate you treat other human beings. We will even drive to Kenosha. I don't know how safe it is leave my phone number here.
momo was inspired from tibetans dumplings and it was actually newars of kathmandu who were the inventers of momo we eat today and called it as momo and 'momo' itself is a newari word which means cooking by steaming..
the best momos one can eat is where the stuffing are a mixture of beef and pork but you will not get it in the market this type of momos are made at home, so you will have to get yourself invited to a home where they make this type of momo.
Wow, Very nice to see u around Darjeeling. N if you have the time , I raccomand you to visit in my home town Kalimpong, it’s not to far from Darjeeling n u won’t regret it. We all family r big fan of u n we always watch u’r videos. Great day brother. 🙏
Bro in guwahati u migh had Bihari momo..😂.. but in Darjeeling u have tasted the real authentic momo where this appealing cousin belongs....🥟🥟🥟🥟✨ My recommendation to all Westerns .... If u guys really want to taste the real authentic flavour n aroma of momo u guys have to try momo from Tibetans or Nepalese shops n stall....
Just for your information Mac, whenever you visit a Hindu temple and the priest gives you a red or orange dot on your forehead, you're suppose to make a small donation, which can be of any amount. Usually people give from Rs. 10 to 20 to 50 to 100, depending upon whatever the capacity of a person is.
@@worldnomac firstly, I appreciate the way you visit temples and seek blessing, like any hindu would. I appreciate the way you respect every religion. Yes, I saw that you made a payment, that's not my point. My point is, in temples you can pay any amount unless they ask a certain amount like they did in Maa Kamakhya temple in Guwahati where you bought a goat. I just want to ensure that you don't get scammed (unless you're paying for bhog meaning providing some eatables for public or as a donation for the development of a temple to the temple management committee)
