Thanks you Sir. My Lennox system did the same thing yours did tried to ignite 3 times and then would shutdown for a few minutes to clear the gas. After a few attempts it would go into a lock down. I cleaned the flame sensor which was located different than your furnace and was L shaped at the end but after watching your video had no trouble locating it. I cleaned it with a $1 bill just as you did put it back in and heat is on. You saved me some big bucks because it's a Friday night around 5 p.m. when I got home. My furnace was giving a code the red light would flash 8 times then pause and flash 8 times and pause continuously. Now I know. Thanks a bunch!
Dude, you wanna really know why this video was perfect? Today, Dec. 23, 2022, in SE Wisconsin it was -10° at 6 am and yes, No Heat in the house. Fortunately, I have the exact same furnace and mine was doing the same thing. Super easy to fix and 10 min later, my house is warming again. Thank you.
Just wanted to ThankYou for this informitive video. I had a different furnace but, found the sensor and the fix worked perfectly. It was a Sunday afternoon and these things never go out during normal working hours. Mucho money & time savings. You are a friend of mine. Thanks Again. Best Regards, TJ
I had the same issue. I ordered the flame sensor but the wrong one arrived in the mail. I sanded the metal sooty part with 500 grit paper and wiped it off. Furnace works perfectly now
My whole family is very grateful fot this video! Saved us from cold weekend nights and saved us money, and it was a huge blessing since we are currently unemployed. Thanks again!
I just did this little trick, and it works! My furnace was intermittently not starting. I did exactly what he said to do, I cleaned off the flame sensor. Now it’s working wonderfully! Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I was wondering why my furnace was cutting off every 10 minutes. Changed filter and cleaned the switch as you demonstrated and it started working again. You saved me hundreds, Maybe thousands from these crooked techs. Kudos to you
Crooks? A service company spends an average of 2 hours to diagnose (time to get to you plus time in your home plus time to get back to base) the tech gets paid $35 an hour with his benefits (ss and Medicare match and workers comp, you’re at $45 an hour add to it $10 an hour for gas and truck upkeep. If you were charged $125 for a service charge, the heating company breaks even and makes zero profit! They haven’t even paid their office expenses, license fees, taxes and liability insurance yet. You may want to use your own car and gas money to make less than minimum wage but others do not. Before you make a moronic statement about them being rip offs, do the math. If you have no need for them, fine. But don’t label people as rip offs because they charge people a fair rate that allows them to stay in business to serve people that need them. Why pay $7 for breakfast when you can buy a dozen eggs for $1 and have 6 servings. Arron you are dumb.
@@joeburner7120 😄😄 triggered much? I said what I said. Nobody wants to pay these overpriced Hvac companies to fix something when you can pay little to nothing to do it yourself. Get a life and find some other video to troll or another job if it makes you mad. Everyone is here to save a buck.
Thank you for this video! Like you said, it's a Friday night on a holiday weekend. 26 degrees F below zero and getting colder. My heater: "Goodbye Cruel World." We're back up and running after cleaning the sensor.
Whew, That was bitter cold and I worried as well. My Lennox is slightly different and running on L.P. and I haven't had it checked since installed in this old farm house on 11-2019. Works like a champ but when it's bitter cold an old guy on the farm can worry. My furnace place said they sell Lennox cause they are most reliable. Finally going to warm back up but it was 7* below zero near Battle Creek, Mi. this morning. I will stop in this week and buy that sensor and probably ignitor to install and keep old ones as spares.
So it's currently 17 degrees in texas today. I was having this same issue, looked at your video and it got me working again. Thanks so much for this post. Worked like a charm!
This video saved my ass for a second time tonight. Really a blessing video. I have a wife and two babies here on this Saturday night at 1030pm. Much love thanks again
On the coldest day of the year here in Idaho I started having this exact problem. Thank you so much for showing me how "you" would do it. Saved me a couple hundred bucks and not freezing in my home in a holiday weekend. Thank you so much for posting!
Excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to share this info. Our is doing the same. I installed the NEST thermostat many years ago when it first came out and I’ll be darned the thing monitors the performance of the furnace! Sent an email saying “hey buddy your furnace had difficulty starting and staying fired, gave the dates and times it happened. The email said Is likely your flame sensor. If you’re not comfortable working on your own furnace NEST customers can receive a service call to diagnose for $50.00”. I always service and repair all my own when needed. Thank you again.
This WORKS!!! I have an Amana and this worked like a charm. Cost me about 7 bucks because I ordered the part on Amazon. Thanks for saving me an expensive service call…
I clean mine once a year with fine steel wool, no problems since. Also make sure you change your furnace filters often. If we get very cold weather and my filter is not clean, the heat exchanger sensor will shut the burners off until the furnace cools down.
Very informative video, thank you. We use to have an old Rheem gas furnace, and the repairman did the same thing. Only he used a small ribbon of 2500 grit sandpaper. We now have a Lennox furnace just like the one in this video, and it started acting up last night. Did the same thing in the video and it now runs like a champ.
I appreciate you taking the time to explain your trouble shooting of this problem. Last winter my furnace shut down like this in the middle of the night. Somehow, I got it working again, but just yesterday we had a cold front hit Utah. My furnace would not start. Luckily I have space heaters and a gas fireplace, but now I will give this a try. Thank you!!!
@@ignorantcustomgarage5171 I cleaned the part and it did help. However, there were some other issues that continue to cause problems. Luckily, I have a buddy who works with HVAC systems who is working through the problems.
I have this same furnace with the same issue and cleaning that flame sensor did the trick. I’m a new home owner and always looking for ways I can same money and DIY. Thank you so much for this content.
Much appreciation to you sir for posting this video. Worked like a charm! You have saved countless men money and some semblance of their manhood as well.
Ty buddy. mine went out around midnight. diddnt know what to do last night. but woke up on a mission to figure it out. watched your video. and it worked. ty so much.
Thank you man you were right they did come over charge me 212 and they didn’t fix it I did what you said and it works thank you so much for the idea really thank you a whole lot and god bless you for your videos
Awesome video! Happened to be the exact same problem for my furnace in my apartment. And like you said it went out Friday night and not during the week when the office is open. Super simple fix! Thank you for the detailed video good sir
Thank you for making this video! Saved my family and I from the cold tonight as well as a few hundred dollars 2days before Christmas. You're the man!!!
My furnace quit last night. However I've had this issue before. Check your intake pipe outside. On cold ,windy, snowy days this pipe may plug up. Just clear it with some type of wire and it should start up. This may or may not be your issue but before calling a technician go outside and check the intake. Merry warm Christmas to all.
Thank you so much this did the trick and you’re right… this literally happened on a 20 degree Sunday Morning when I’m due to go away for work for a couple days.
By any chance have you had a chance to upgrade your thermostat to a new smart one like Wyze, Google, etc. Wondering if you have instructions for it with this Lennox Elite unit.
Anyone know how to replace the filter on these things? I have the same furnace, but the air intake is different. In this video you can see the filter box set on the floor to the left of the furnace. My air intake does not come from the left, but from the bottom. I opened it up and did not see a 3M square filters nor a larger box filter unit between the air intake and the cylindrical fan towards the bottom. I am starting to think that I might need a tech for this one.
You can jump R- W at the ICM board to call for heat just make sure the door switch is down .If you know that the issue is the flame sensor just buy a new one there less then $30 . Some of these’ sensors are a pain in the butt access so why mess around with a $1 bill for a maybe fix .
I get what you're saying but this is more for 00:42 - 01:02 , there are a tonne of ways to clean the sensor and also just to replace it, I dunno where you live but at 2am when mine when out there was nowhere open to buy a replacement. So this is how I got myself some heat
Oh my Heck! It’s -6 degrees right now and you just saved a family of 6 because no one can come out to help tonight!!! I owe you bigtime!!!!!
Thank you for the $1 saving video. I fixed my furnace in less than 15 minutes following your instructions. God Bless You!

Wow it works! Thanks man. Save me money now and more in the future. 5 minute job. Appreciate you from Chicago.
I came for help with a furnace.
I subbed for the motorcycle content.
😎👍
That fan you were talking about is the draft inducer.

I;m in Canada too & my furnace is giving problems. Good job.
I just did this and it fixed mine!!! Thank you!!!
Much love mine just went off on the middle of night its a -8F I had to fix it seen this video and I tried it and it work
Thanks for the nicely instructed video. It helps me to fix my Furnace in Minnesota cold.
It's wise to buy an extra flame ignitor in case the ignitor goes bad.
Completely agree, also a flame sensor but keep the current one as a back up
Thank you soooo much it was so easy to fix.
Take note, you can use sandpaper just the same.
Badass!!! I just did this and its working so far. I used a 20 dollar bill, lol.
I just did it and it works it really works 😂 thanks brother much appreciated
Thanks for the info. Just got my heater to start working again.. I used sand paper to clean my sensor off...
It worked !!!! Thank you and I still have $1 !!!!
Thank you so much, it fixed my furnace. Bless you!
The cleaning of the flame sensor should be done every year.
It worked! Thank you for this video!
Thanks 🙏 it incredibly worked! Appreciate you brother

Amazing! Worked like a charm!
Thanks for the video, kept the burners ignited. Mine was a $5 fix though ha.
Thank you! You save me some $$$
You just save me time and money thank you sir

I don't and I'm not a fan of "smart" anything inside a house
I'm very curious if your furnace stopped immediately after this and you cut it off lol.
Nope ran just fine. I've since replaced the old for a new part as well as this is only a temporary fix for me.
Still the green light blinking . But 🔥 fire is not happening. Could you please tell us why??
Only cold wind is coming out through vent
you 100% need to call a service tech
I have the exact same furnace
I turned the igniter switch off by accident and now I have no spark after I turned it back on
Please call a licenced service technician.
Anyone know how to replace the filter on these things? I have the same furnace, but the air intake is different. In this video you can see the filter box set on the floor to the left of the furnace. My air intake does not come from the left, but from the bottom.
