Australians pronounce it as 'High Lux'. We had one for years as an everyday car but we used it off-road and touring. Camping with it was great, can fit so much stuff on it.
We have Toyota Hilux in South Africa too and we also pronounce it "HIGH-LUCKS"

With enough numbers I can see that being feasable. Also he has sold a shirt that says "this shirt costs 1000$" sooo makes sense to me.

Granted, they are comfortable on road, but like 90% of raptor owners, from forums I've seen online, don't take it off road, even though it's built for exactly that. It's crazy. I take mine off road at least once a week. Or at least try to. It's so much fun going off road in it.

11:23 this is actually supossed to be easily foldable. It's called the "kreukelzone" in Dutch (don't know the English) word and it is a form of passive protection. It works as a sort of demper for the force that is put on the car during a crash.
There is a reason the Hilux is one of the most widely used vehicles in Africa. There is a reason why my mother had hers for almost 300,000 miles. It got stolen several years ago and probably would have been at half a million miles already if she still had it. Still looked immaculate inside despite carrying feed for our farm almost every weekend

@@nitsu2947 it was recovered about 2 hours later but a lot was already removed from it. Insurance paid for it to get repaired but it no longer felt like it was hers so she sold it and used the money as a deposit on a new FJ cruiser

When they dropped the Hilux from a demolished building in Top Gear, the beast was still running. They kept it as a trophy for quite some time. I always liked the idea that beyond all the beating there was still something that tried it's hardest to keep on going. This, after the helicopter, I don't know. Feels like almost like it was murder.

I went to texas a&m in college station and seeing like 8+ trucks parked outside of frat houses was always hilarious to me. Especially because I was (dropped out lmaoo) actually majoring in animal science to work with livestock and i (still) drive a ford fiesta.
If Felix doesn’t buy a Hilux I will be legitimately disappointed.

You will be disappointed because, not only they are too big for British roads, they are fuel guzzlers and oil prices in the UK is 3 times higher than the US due to Brexit. So it doesn't make economical sense for Pewds to buy any trucks. Fuel prices is one reason why Pewds drove an Austin Mini and a Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid.

Too Gear put 2 huge boat racing motors on the back on one of these and sailed it across the English Channel.

I’m in Australia and now that you know what a Hilux is Ken, you’ll see them EVERYWHERE. It is the only car tradies drive. I gave my Dad so much crap when he bought one, but he was laughing when I needed help moving “Oh so now you like the Hilux?!”

Hey Ken the reason you don't recognize that model truck over here in the u.s. is because the US screwed us over by creating something called the chicken tax which essentially banned that truck from being sold over here due to a crazy high extra tariff that the seller would have had to pay to import it and then sell it but those Hilux trucks are so legendary that the US was so afraid of them being sold over here they had to find a way to ban it. Toyota has sold over 4 million of them! If you're curious about what a newer style one looks like there is a Top Gear special where they took a special Hilux through the Arctic which was a first in the world attempt to cross it with a pickup truck.
Also whistlindiesel liked that truck so much that he now has a collection of like four or five of them that he had to pay insane amounts to get really pristine condition ones and he had to import them through a special broker. Also the original Top Gear episode where they tested how durable a bog-standard Hilux diesel five speed on Top Gear they ran into shit they set it on fire they left it in the ocean they even put it on top of a building that was blown up and had to dig it out of the wreckage and the thing still started and drove I don't care what truck it is any American Truck would have been dead as soon as it was left in the ocean LOL
12:30 Felix is such a city boy. Sweden got the biggest car meet in Europe, Power Big Meet. It's mostly American cars but a lot of people show up in their old modded Volvos and such too. During the summers there are smaller car meets every weekend too. A few big ones and small ones all over Sweden. Not in the biggest cities though.
