That's friendship right there

Ken: yeah..they do that when they like you.
Felix: oh.... 🥺
Felix: well doesn't mean I like them!
@Olive you mean Joergen?
I’m a Yorkshire woman myself and it’s hilarious seeing them have no clue what they’re saying when it sounds like a person just talking to me. Also yes these people are below the poverty line and this is so 2009 England!

Idk if anyone here has said but the “flood sticks” in Australia are to see how deep the water is so you don’t just drive through it and it turn out to be super deep and you get washed away. That way too if it’s shallow you’ll know you can still get through it
You’ll normally find them on roads that go through creeks/rivers where the road crosses it (or sometimes I’ve seen them on large open roads but not often)
They’re not there just to be there they do have a really useful purpose, also it’s cool to know and visualise how much water has gone through places before bc of the height of some of them
We kinda have similar things here on the Philippines since it floods a lot here. It's either a stick, concrete barriers, or poles painted with the levels.
Lol that's not uncommon. Any place with floods have flood sticks.
Many places in the us have them too.
@@kopykat6843 levees
Can confirm, they're all over here in the US midwest around the Mississippi River.
It's interesting to see one like 100ft away from the river, way over your head, and usually it has a mark for it's highest reading. That's when you realize when it *really* floods, where you are, way away from the water, would be over-your-head underwater.
Let’s be honest, Ken deserves way more subs, his content is Top Tier

The thing with the houses is because American houses are built cheaper with wood. Houses in the UK/EU are built with stone which is a lot stronger and more durable.
strong with leaks...huh. I get it foundation repairs are expensive in the US but at least replacing a wall or patching cement is "relatively" affordable. We have houses here that still have lasted for hundreds of years too.
@@froniccruxis1049 no shit sherlock, of course there are houses in the Us that also last a long time. However in general they are less durable.

i actually really love how everything has been built over in the UK in comparison to over here in Canada; i love all the stone work, and the overgrown plants that take over eventually, and the castles littering around.. love how rustic it is.
We have a lot of beautiful, rustic places here in Nova Scotia, you must live out west.
@@leighannehubbard2005 i live in ontario. and sea food is the last thing i’m interested in, so visiting that area would be harder for me, but i do plan on making a trip around canada eventually. but even nova scotia doesn’t compare to the atmosphere i love about the UK.
@@sixlikesgore7503 LOL, I'm allergic to seafood, and I never mentioned that in my comment.
I've never visited the UK, but since I live in one of the oldest cities in Canada, we have quite a few buildings that were built by the British, similar to those in this video.
@@leighannehubbard2005 never said you did mention seafood, but okay? was just an explanation on why i haven't been that eager to go more east yet. and i'm not just talking houses, i'm talking everything; down to the cobbled stone pieced together to make their fences / barriers / roads / structures. literally everything. the abandoned castles that litter basically everywhere you look.. it just seems like such a forgotten world of fantasy to me and i love that.
You mainly find such houses and buildings in Scotland
Ken riffing about buildings having an expiration date.... I live in a city with Roman walls & buildings dating as far back as 75AD.
This really gave me some insight into why all my American friends' houses feel like a shed/summer house. Build them like that and yeah of course it's got an expiration date.
PS- if you're struggling with this accent please find some scousers to react to!
I just recently learned that Roman concrete is way better than current concrete. It's sad that the knowlege of how to make Roman concrete has been lost
When Felix said that the horse lifted its lips and sort of bared its teeth, that actually just means the horse was trying to smell him better :)) nothing particularly unfriendly about it!!
I think male animals do that when they want to mate
It's Called flehmen response. Some animals can do it to draw in air (pheromones) to the vomeronasal organ in the rooftop of their mouths :D
the difference between smiling and snarling is thin with horses lol the key is their ears
Felix has found a new mate.
@@Zubstep1315 if it lifted its lip im pretty sure it was smelling him
The reason why British people often can’t understand each other is because accents vary massively depending on where you are in the country.
Idk how to tell you this but that ain't accents that's different levels of Speech impediments like wtf 😭😂 Imagine you get lost and have to ask for directions
@@asthmathicc It is just different accents, not speech impediments. There’s no need to be rude just because you don’t understand. The people in the video are from Yorkshire and the Yorkshire accent/dialect is one of the oldest in the English language, so it’s arguably more correct than “proper” English.
@@TP-mv6en Damn, Imagine getting pressed about a joke.

Felix sounding more Scottish than Scottish people do when doing an English accent 08:36 🤣
Ikr
But it sounds more irish to me
The thing Felix mentioned about a horse showing his teeth to him, by the way he presented it, it looks like the Flehmen reflex, which is a thing horses do to analyse a smell. They pull their upper lip way up to close their nostrils. Looks goofy, and completely harmless, if anything it's a sign that the horse was interested in Felix or whatever else it was smelling.
If the horse had its ears back and lunged its head towarss him with the teeth out though it's a sign of agression, a signal to back off. But if it was just standing there and goofily having its gums exposed and upper lip pulled up... Dude the horse just thought you smelled interesting.
Yeah I just commented this too lmfao. I love when horses do that, sometimes I’ll purposely put my hand next to their nose hoping they’ll do it 😂 it’s even better when they raise their head and stretch their neck toward my hand, it’s hilarious.
On a more serious note I wish more people knew basic horse body language before interacting with them. It’s just not in the common cultural knowledge like dog body language is. At best it leads to people being unnecessarily scared like Felix, at worst people get hurt.
Why are they blocking their nostrils if they want to smell?? Or does it trap the smell?
@@kingcosworth2643 there is another smell receptor in the roof of the mouth that opens up when they do this. Cats, dogs and other animals do it also!
That horse thought Felix smelled like a snack probably.
@@redbirddeerjazz I was gonna mention cats do this, that's the Flehmen response (as OP mentioned) they use the vomeronasal organ. Very weird to see but fascinating.

As a Welsh person, I agree. Our language is a monkey throwing poop on a keyboard, and I love it
But it sounds amazing 😁
So in case you're wondering, Welsh place names do actually mean things. Cwm means valley and is pronounced a bit more like Coom and the Ystwyth is the name of a river. So the place in the valley with the river Ystwyth in it. Aber means mouth of a river. If you see Caer, it means fort, so Caerdydd, ie: Cardiff, our Capital, means the Fort on the river Taff. (that fort havng been Roman!) And of course the classic LLan, meaning church, the LL is achieved by pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth and then pronounce the L. Tbh as a Welsh girl, I find learning Spanish easier, lol, but I still hold an affectionate pride for our native language :-)
thank you so much i loved learning this i know just ab nothing of UK cultures and very little of your history so i very much enjoyed reading all of this

A lot of houses in the UK are from the victorian era. They tend to be narrow, tall terrace houses that were mass made for workers. The walls are pretty thin with some kind of mold or water damage. They always have creaky floorboards and the ceilings are kinda high so there are usually cobwebs too... Also, each house comes equipped with a friendly ghost to watch you when you sleep. :)
True also tend to be more pricey the area I come from is early 20th century houses so just before the war, or houses built in the 80s so I don't see too many old old houses
I love Victorian houses here in the uk I wouldn’t have it any other way. The added bonus ghosts make for great companions! :)
I don't think Casper is the ghost they talking about
Stayed twice in Victorian era houses in UK and each time weird shit happened. @@Kanikanihia kinda yeah my parents always just laugh it off but tbh I'm like u h h then again my house isn't that old but Victorian houses have a habit of making noises just because they are o l d so it does add to the ambience

What kind of horse?
@@4d3c2b1a Quarter Horse
You have a horse? Wtf you must be rich
Quarter horses are so beautiful, I am so happy she has a loving owner now!
I had a Thoroughbred ex-racer who had been "trained" by a couple of idiots that knew nothing about horses or racing. She cost £400 (she was heading for the knackers yard), was skin and bone, had whip scars all down her hind quarters & would spook at the slightest things. I changed her name to Fleur, she was black with a white blaze with white speckles all around the blaze. After a year of intensive work, a proper diet and unending patients she was a different horse! We ended up having the most amazing bond, she completely trusted me, but only me. No one else could go in her stable or turn her out, eventually she started to trust the yard owner who was an amazing lady and helped me so much. Those whip scars never fully went away, I will never forget the day she trusted me enough to touch them, they were no longer painful but the emotional trauma was. I gave her a massive hug after plus a parsnip and a couple of mints and cried my eyes out, Fleur responded by licking my face - I know it was probably for the saltiness but it felt like she was trying to make ME better, she then put her head over my shoulder and pulled me closer. I had her for 17 amazing years, she had a good long 6 year retirement too after 5 years of competitive Dressage then lots of long countryside hacks. I still miss her.
Sorry this is such a long reply, it's not often you come across other horsey people that have a horse from a mistreated background. Sadly it's all to common in the racing industry.

In the USA we have flood measure sticks. They aren't obvious, usually position near bridges or docks. Sometimes they go completely under water and have to be adjusted for the next flood. Especially the ones along the east coast. On the west coast the water is so low the measure sticks are basically hovering on the canyon walls. When they say falsh flood on the west they mean it. around spring the runoff rivers start raging. any rain just adds to it but after the runoff period all rivers are dry.

When this is your actual accent and you now have a super power over both Ken and Pewds.
Not being able to communicate effectively is a great superpower
@@davidh5130 not everyone with this accent is full of drugs and riding around on bikes with no wheels. Yorkshire is massive, lots of people have this accent, yes even doctors and rich people, shock horror. Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean we are unable to communicate effectively, we would probably just dumb down our accent for you, but why would we do that at home when everyone understands us?
@@bettyboosh8384 True. My dads best friend is a multi millionaire who lives in a castle (North Yorkshire) and has an accent similar to this. People don’t seem to get that just because you’re from the North - it doesn’t make you poor.

Nah Felix taller that measurement stick would need tippy toes to even come close to felix.
13:20 that's also what the tall obelisks in Egypt were for, many were near the Nile River because they needed to be able to boat out and mark the obelisk where the flooding stopped, which was also essential flooding for their fields to carry silt from the river. And those obelisks are enormous, imagine how high those floods could reach.
That's interesting didn't know that, but why is there one in Washington?
Levees people
The mesuring stick i probably used to look at the water level so that you know if it will flood or how much the water level is rising and how fast, so that you can prepare the bank of the river with a montage wall if you see the sings of rapid water level rising to prevent the flooding, or for river boats/ships or whatever to know if its deep enough for them to pass and not get stuck in the river bed.
