I’ve been following your videos since getting frustrated with the lawn treatment company we paid for 2 years. Felt like I cared way more then they did if my lawn looked good. So far my lawn is the only one greening up and looking lovely. My neighbors are now following my lead, watching your videos and starting to take care of their lawns on there own. Thank you!
Just moved to Oklahoma from Washington state. This grass is crazy. New construction and so many weeds. I refuse to pay the yard companies like all our neighbors. Thank you for your videos.
Welcome to the region. I'm a neighbor next door in Arkansas. Whole different ballgame down here grass wise. Appreciate ya checking out the vids. Happy to help anytime if you need anything.
This video is right on time!! I'm a first time homeowner and I wondered why my Zoysia wasn't greening up. Initially we had early warmth, but overall it's been a cool spring in Atlanta. The high today is only 69. BTW Thanks for your practical lawn tips!! If you're not careful UA-cam will encourage you to spend too much time and money on your lawn!!
Right on. I love it when they time out just right. Glad you find my vids helpful. You're so right! Many other channels just want to sell you an overpriced product to feed people's worrying tendencies. Not to mention, they never tell you how much time they're really spending to get their lawns to look that way. Most of us have another life too. Happy to have ya here on the channel! Appreciate you.
Great info, Travis! My cool season lawn Greened up pretty quickly and were back to some cooler weather now... that's the story of how the midwest works every year around this time constant flip flop from 80 to 40 and back to 80
Down here in Texas i still haven’t put down Spring fert. No reason to do it until warm weather gets here. Whenever that’ll be lol Unusual spring for us.
Good stuff, my yard is exploding and green as Augusta atm here around San Antonio. Lots of rain in the last week. Love this time of year before it goes triple digits lol
Great video Travis!! That front project is looking amazing!! I have a funny one for you; my lawn is getting bullied by some sort of cloverish plant and I went out and started yanking it all out by hand and telling my lawn to stop being a punk and not let this stuff bully it! LOL The next stay the grass was standing tall!!! LOL The battle continues!! Keep up the great work!!
Great tips! We have seen rain here but not as much as normal for the spring. Awesome progress on that front landscaping! What a transformation that is going to be. 👊👊
I do not. In my experience, really good cultural practices have taken care of most insect problems for me. I just prefer to put as few chemicals out as possible. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
I tried a homeowner fungicide once from the big box store. Didn’t see much help from it. SDS is hard to cure or prevent. Not much in the way of homeowner products for it. Thanks for watching.
Spring dead spot doesn’t just go away in spring. If you have hard winters with ice and snow like I do, the grass weakened by the fungus dies from the harsh winter weather. Maybe you had another fungus?
What is your thoughts on leveling new Bermuda without scalping? I have a new sod lawn that was laid end of March/early April. I moved in to the house mid May and have been keeping up with the watering and mowing. I’ve used a round of 13-13-13 and organic fertilizer two weeks ago and everything is looking really great considering the lawn is new buttttt I’m not sure if I should risk using sand to level the ground this season or hold off until next year/start of next spring season to do a leveling project. Thank you!!
You can. I’ve seen guys do it all the time. But it’s not my preference to. Mine is in its second season and still hasn’t seen sand. May or may not this year. Just depends on how much it’s driving ya nuts and how soon you want it done. I’m in no big rush. Thanks for watching.
@@BudgetLawns thanks for the info! I might just wait it out like you are and at worst do some spot treatment so avoid water buildup rather then do the entire lawn.
My lawn is still very yellow even after fertilizing 10 days ago. You mentioned how you scarified your lawn this spring is it too late to dethatch my lawn since I’ve already fertilized? I’m in the northern zone, the lawn is likely diseased, grass looks flat a lot of thatch & green grass blades do not grow to a consistent length.
Hmm, interesting. I'd need to know location, grass type, weather. Lots of factors at play. I don't scarify my lawn. I think you heard me talking about scalping it.
No rain in April and a late freeze tonight! Mother Nature needs to give us a break 🤣. Will a one night small frost ding my Bermuda? About 50% greened up but not really worrying about it too much.
Crazy crazy. You ain’t kiddin 😆. It won’t do much. I mean it could but not enough to matter with such cool weather in the forecast. Prolly won’t be a long frost at all. Just around sunrise. Appreciate ya watching and commenting!
No problem! Always enjoy the videos, I’m pretty close to NWA just in southeast Kansas. Our temps are always pretty close but it has been wild lately. The good news is I had some zoysia mixed in with my Bermuda last year that I wanted to get rid of; well the 110 degree heat managed to kill most of the zoysia off and the Bermuda didn’t care one bit!
Question: I used some grass/weed killer (Spectracide) on dallis and poa after my initial scalp. Now those spots are yellow at the moment. What kind of time table am I looking at for those spots to start filling in? Im in the transition zone like you but in virginia. Im mowing and watering heavy as of last week and I can already start seeing the response. This week im a poke some holes in those dead yellow spots and hit it with humic12 to help it out. Thanks for any insight brother.
If there was any green Bermuda in those spots, that weed and grass killer could kill some Bermuda. When using it on Bermuda for weeds, you only wanna do it when it’s completely dormant. Even if some does die, it’ll just take some time for the surrounding grass to spread and fill it in. How long is just dependent on the size of the spot. Hard to say. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@Budget Lawns thanks. Sizes vary. I have some small spots and some bigger spots due to the size of these pesky dallis weeds. I guess all have to keep babying the spots until they fill in
You have to consider too what the make up of your soil is also! Clay soil will warm up faster! I scalped yesterday so that's behind me now. We got 2 inches of rain on Wednesday along with hail and tornadoes. First storm threw here dropped nothing but hail first marble then quarter then golf ball to hen egg as it transitioned took some good hits on the vehicle 😢 Good chances of rain coming in next week.👍with no bad weather! I sure was hoping that super juice would do the trick thanks for being a Debbie downer! Lol
Haha, thanks buddy. Sorry to hear about the bad storms in your neck of the woods. I hope everything is okay! As long as no one got hurt, it's all good. Appreciate ya adding the soil tip. It's always fun to have folks chime in with other things to think about. Thank you as always.
Hey I saw in TLF you're in NWA! Do you have any recommendations or contacts for grinding a Tru cut reel and bedknife? I've tried finding someone in the area, looks like Tulsa is the closest and they're backed up for weeks lol
I don’t. Sorry. I haven’t hit that point on my California trimmer. My first thought is to see if you could get in with a golf course and have their crew to do it. Wish I had a better answer for ya.
Brother Travis, are you a pastor of some sort? You tell stories like I’m at church. Just the flow is church like to the T. Thanks for the great content!
Haha, no, but I have gotten that many times. Oddly enough my twin brother is headed to the seminary. I'm glad you called them stories. That's my goal. I hope to tell short stories about lawn care for those that enjoy that style of presentation. Appreciate the kind words and feedback!
You’re always sharing quality content for the common man. Thanks!
You’re welcome. Thank you very much for supporting the channel! 🙏🙏
Im a simple man, budget lawns posts a new video, I watch it. Love your videos! Keep them coming!
That’s awesome. Appreciate you very much! 👊👊
Perfect timing. I needed to hear all this. Being patient is tough. I’m still learning that!
You got this. Glad it timed out right for ya. Love it when that happens. Appreciate you watching and commenting as always! 👊

Wild ride when it’s like that. Thanks so much buddy. Always appreciate you chiming in!
Sounds like southeast MI. Pure 💩 hole lol
I did my scalp too the other day. And now yes, we are back in the cold. And you’re right about the no rain. Normally beaver is flooded by this time.
What a strange spring. Looks like rain is more likely widespread next week. Hope so...we need something to settle the pollen and dust. Appreciate you!
Down here in Texas i still haven’t put down Spring fert. No reason to do it until warm weather gets here. Whenever that’ll be lol Unusual spring for us.
You got that right. Hope you get some heat soon. We’ll be crying about it before too long lol. Thanks man. Appreciate ya.
A lot of variables to consider, temps are all over the place too dealing with this too up north. Have a great Sunday Travis
You nailed it brother. Thank you. Have a great day as well!
Appreciate this video. Very helpful to know that I’m not the only one dealing with this right now.
You’re welcome. Glad it helps. Appreciate ya watching!
I can’t wait to put down my 10-10-10 and morganite
👍👍 yessir. Almost time. Appreciate ya watching and commenting!
Good stuff, my yard is exploding and green as Augusta atm here around San Antonio. Lots of rain in the last week. Love this time of year before it goes triple digits lol

Haha, that’s hilarious. Keep up the good fight man. Sounds like you’re winning. No bully weeds will stop you! Thanks so much bud. Have a great Sunday!

Thanks so much buddy. It's fun to watch unfold. Appreciate ya following along.
Thanks for the video. I have used Eagle 20EW in the fall as a preventative. Expensive but a little goes a long way. Like 2.4 oz per 1k sq ft
You bet buddy. Appreciate ya adding the recommendation for a fungicide. Thanks so much as always!
Thanks!
You're very welcome. Thank you. Have a great week.
Always great info. Thank you.
Much appreciated. Glad ya liked it!
Great video!
Thank you! Appreciate ya man!
Thank you this was informative
You bet. Glad ya liked it. Thanks so much for watching!
Nice video
Thank you. Much appreciated.
No need for patience, plenty warn in central AZ
👊👊 right on. Thanks for watching.
not crazy about hearing that we might get a freeze here tonight in benton co.. ( i live 600 ft. from the mo. border)
Crazy huh. Never know in Arkansas. Hope ya don’t get it too bad. Appreciate ya watching and commenting!
Do you use any product for bugs and ticks, etc for bug prevention and pet issue prevention?
I do not. In my experience, really good cultural practices have taken care of most insect problems for me. I just prefer to put as few chemicals out as possible. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Another great video as always sir, keep the content coming!! Did have to drop by for a little baseball smack talk.. HOW BOUT THEM DAWGS !! 🔴⚫️
Haha. Dude that was brutal. Your boys stepped up! 🧹🧹🧹 is painful. Appreciate ya man. Hope to see y Tuesday night!
When you had spring dead spot you didn’t put down a fungicide?
I tried a homeowner fungicide once from the big box store. Didn’t see much help from it. SDS is hard to cure or prevent. Not much in the way of homeowner products for it. Thanks for watching.
@@BudgetLawns I put down headway G and within a few weeks it went away. Now I put fungicide in the fall and around April so I won’t have any issues.

It was abnormally colder in socal. Finally in the 80s-50s
Been a pattern for lots of folks. Glad you’re seeing some heat finally. Appreciate ya watching and commenting!

💯💯 appreciate ya watching.
Too cool and dry here in north Texas.
I feel ya. Tough times for Bermuda grass. Appreciate ya watching! 👊👊

FIRST! Only 1/2 of my yard has greened up, the left half. It’s st aug and being stupid, apparently the right side likes to sleep in like it’s daddy! 😂
🏅🏅👊👊
😂😂 Too funny, bro. Gotta hurry up and wait sometime. Appreciate you as always!
My zoysia is doing the same thing. I noticed the part that greens up first also melts first if it snows. We've had a crazy spring overall.
It's fun to notice the observations. I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for watching and sharing.
My neighbors must think I’m nuts out there mowing only half my yard.
My Fescue is Green af
Cool season grasses are lovin it. Warm season…not so much. Thanks for watching.
Go Hogs
🙌🙌 Hope those bats heat up. Big series win yesterday. Appreciate ya watching.
My weeds are nice and green. 😅
My dad always said as long as it gets mowed and is green, it doesn’t matter what’s in the lawn. Haha. Thanks for watching!
I am trying out a OtO sprinkler next week. Seems like a cool idea, but very expensive
Woo pig sooie
Brutal series in GA. WPS always though!!👊👊
