Brother. You have helped me have the nicest lawn in my neighborhood. Everything you have to offer has been beneficial to my progression. I've noticed what you've done with your new property and felt like this could be a prepper kind of thing but good for you. Always prepared and ready. There is NO substitute for bettering your family. Appreciate your content DOC! FYI. I'm on my fifth year of your advice. My lawn is beautiful, healthy and easy to maintain. Thanks, my man.
I've learned a lot from your videos and have gone from worst to best lawn. I'm doing a similar farm, a tip you might like is look at bifacial solar panels and use them as vertical fencing. You could make a chicken pen or just a privacy fence. Looks nice and easy to build. Some let natural light through. Fyi
Doc thanks for sharing all your knowledge on how to take care a lawn. i’m in California with hot Summers and Winters 30°, 40° at night And I use nitrogen pretty much all year long on my perennial ryegrass😂😂 you are one of those guys that inspire me to renovate my lawn take care and keep sharing.
Try using Green Shocker, once soil temp/air temp hits the 80s. I'm in central Texas and our temps during last summer caused drought conditions and watering was limited to twice a week and before 10am and after 7pm. Grass stayed green.
Although we cooled down to high 30s this a.m. here in SE texas we spent last week in mid-upper 70s. Bermuda got scalped two weeks ago. There's a fast growing green sheen across the entire lawn already. I put high nitrogen/iron fertilizer down this past Friday. We're probably 3 weeks ahead of you in mid-Georgia. Gotta go by your prevailing climate, latitude, and soil temps.
I have the self-propelled Ego mower and I have mixed feelings. Doesn’t mow as sharp as a gas mower and unless your lawn is perfectly smooth it surges and cuts unevenly. It also doesn’t pick up leaves and debris like a gas powered mower. It is however convenient, clean and “green”. I feel like the technology is not exactly where it should be at this point. Sometimes I wish I had both gas and electric mowers.
Hello, great channel👍 It would be possible to apply fertilizer and seed to it with the spreader to restore the lawn which has weeds and several dry areas with very little volume of grass. I have never worked with grasses and I don't know if after putting seed to make the grass grow if I can also put fertilizer to prevent weed. The grass type is Fecue and the date is 4/22/24, I'm in NC Thank you!
In another one of your videos you said use the granular pre-emergent the 4 weeks later come back with pre/post liquid mix. In this video you talk about using 10-10-10 fertilizer. Would you fertilize in that 4 week period?
Thanks Doc. i got pre-emergent done couple weeks ago, and should do great with the rain we've had (my rain events was less than yours luckily). Plan to scalp bermuda lawn in 2 weeks. Arborist said i should put some tree fertilizer on this oak tree because of impact from neighbor removing his trees. Do you have a recommendation for tree fertilizer for a big oak tree that got impacted/damaged?
Be careful when someone tells you to fertilize "trees". You need a soil test to really see if the tree needs anything, otherwise just watch it and see how it does.
Looking forward to the new lawn video series on this new property Mike as this property more closely represents the yards that most of us have in NE Georgia. Question - I keep seeing conflicting advice on the application of lime/pre-emergent & fertilizer. Since my application of my pre-emergent is being delayed due to the tree & stump removal I want to ensure that I get this right. Should I lime first or apply my pre-emergent separately after watering in the lime wait a week then throw out the pre-emergent or vice-versa? Or can I just throw all 3 out at one time?
Doc! Thanks for what you do! This will be the first year I'm really trying to get my lawn under control, so I'm following a lot of your videos and advice. I got your pre-emergents today but I had a question about them that I haven't been able to find an answer to yet: If I've never put pre-emergent down before, and my area is supposed to around Apr 10, should I put some down now, and in April? Or just in April? Thanks again for all your help and resources!!
Had 54 yards of topsoil delivered so I planted annual rye (let weeds grow) for roots in the ground, Im not wasting any money on Fert until Bermuda seeding in May, I dont see why I should, I dont wanna mow lol
Wouldn't Milorganite work as the first low-nitrogen fertilizer application for warm season grass? Asking from northern Louisiana where the climate is pretty much identical to Dallas.
Question for all. North georgia 1 acre that just had trees cut down for help with mountain views. It slopes a bit, is now bare ground with stumps, and I dont want to cut grass or maintain it. What could I spread/plant that will help with erosion but not grow high and need cutting? Thanks
Great video. I look forward to seeing all your videos as they are so informative. Where is the list to sign up with your email so we get notified of your new channel?
Doc, I want to make sure I am doing this right. I put down my Granular Pre--Emergent a few weeks again with my 10-10-10. I am about to put down my Dimension for the post emergent. Is it ok to put down PGF Complete when I put the liquid down?
I did a soil from The Andersons and their tests only gives you parts per million results and not actual NPK requirements which make finding a recommended fertilizer very difficult. I wrote to them for clarification and not only did they not tell me the NPK number that my lawn actually needs, but then they told me that the recommendation of PGF Balance 10-10-10 at the lbs they told me was too much by weight and i should split the treatment. I get a soil test to get the recommendation, but then I'm told it's wrong? Never doing a test from The Andersons again.
Try the one from Yard Mastery. Anderson's will work with you. I can't believe they were like that, that's unusual unless you came across the wrong way. Imp.
@@timtweet8149 I’ll look into it. The Anderson’s one was fast but it just seems like I payed $30 for an advertisement and then gives me the wrong recommendation.
@howtowiththedoc - I am in Dallas and my lawn is Bermuda. Last year I struggled to manage crab grass and grubs. The yard is becoming active as I see patches of weed. The patches with crab is coming back with a vengeance. In addition, I have an area by the curb (3’x8’) that is bare. I watched the pre-emergent video and plan to apply tenacity this week. I’m trying to decide the best course of action for the bare spot. What would you recommend?
Do not apply tenacity to Bermuda, it is not labeled for it. Prodiamine should cover your crabgrass control as long as it’s applied at the right time and properly.
I read in the jump start guide to put down a light app of PGF Balance when soil temps hit 55 degrees. I put 2 lbs per K yesterday.. what should I expect?
Help! It’s early spring. Just now taking interest in fixing my ugly lawn that came with the house in Texas. I’m about to put down humichar and pgf balance then seed Bermuda +green shocker in April/May then pgf complete. Just found out ph is 4.5. Do I start putting lime now or wait til after growing season? Thanks for the great vids!
Hello Doc, at the moment, I want to prevent a squirl from interfering with my lawn. How do I get rid of it? Because it is making holes in my front and back lawns, and I think it's eating the G.R.O.W. I live in the outskirts suburban area of San Antonio. Thanks again for an informative video.
DO NOT GO SOLAR!! Trust me when i say this, just don't use too much of heat and cool for your house. In winter i use fireplace(gas) and in summer i kept windows open to get rid of hot air. Thats all. I used heater only when house temp went below 66 and AC when house temp when above 77 in summer. My bills went from $250 to just $65.
You cut and fertilizer all plants on this planet right before they come out of dormancy. If you have plants that are border line for your zone and can freeze up in the spring, you cut after the last frost. That's how it was for thousands of years.
You have cameras 📷 everywhere on acreage. Why should someone worry about doors where you didn't put them on a WiFi network? That grass is looking sweet. And when it's mowed wow!!! Too early for grubs.

Regarding the scalping to bring the level of brown grass down, should we bag the clippings? I noticed you did not bag.
We always pick up our scalp clippings. If not you'll have "tiger strips" when it rains.
