Infection prevention & Hygiene: Contamination pathways

This animated film illustrates how contamination pathways occur and develop in everyday hospital life. The "protagonists" of the film are patients, visitors, staff and the pathogens themselves. A particular danger is posed by bacteria that have already developed antibiotic resistance. In addition to highlighting this problem, the video also presents solutions for successfully interrupting chains of infection.

The hospital environment is a hub for a variety of pathogens.
Above all, pathogens that are introduced extraneously give rise to new contamination pathways. Bacteria that have already become resistant to antibiotics are particularly dangerous. In this case, an infection is very difficult to treat or, in the worst case, no longer treatable at all.
When it comes to medical facilities, pathogens spread through a variety of contact situations between visitors, patients, and staff, or through the surfaces and objects they contaminate.
