- THE PERFECT TREAT FOR VALENTINE'S DAY: TRADITIONAL AFTERNOON TEA AT WEDGWOOD// Happy Tuesday, Valentine's Day is just around the corner and although we're usually not the biggest fans of the day (we try to 'celebrate' our love and think of our loved ones every day), we share our idea what our perfect Valentine's Day would look like. By having traditional afternoon tea! Not that we have to find an excuse to appreciate this wonderful British tradition! If you're a fan of beautiful china, you will know Wedgwood, the amazing china manufacturer which has been around since 1759 and which simply screams elegance. You can easily spend all day at the World of Wedgwood in Stoke-on-Trent, have a glorious afternoon tea, visit the amazing Wedgwood collection, check out the shops and also book a factory tour. So if you're looking for an idea to celebrate VD or simply want to plan a lovely day out, you will love Wedgwood. Kirsten & Joerg xx

This was heartwarming to watch, especially when Joerg opened the card...I loved the the video - my stepfather worked at Wedgwood's for most of his working life, and one of my favourite things in the afternoon is having several cups of tea using my Wedgwood tea set. One of the best teapots I've come across too. Happy Valentine's! xxxxx

Enjoyed your visit to Wedgwood pottery museum and tea room. Wedge wood helped expand the canals in England because less pottery was brokered transporting it by canal than by wagon. I enjoy the history of narrow boats and the canals and love the different cups and tea pots. It looked like an interesting place to visit. Thank you.

Never had Afternoon tea because I live in NYC but it looks marvelous and if we did have it I don't think it would be done as beautifully as over there. Such a sweet video! Who needs Valentines day (way too commercialized) when you have Afternoon Tea on any lovely day and can say "I love you" like that! Loved the museum and the Advent Calendar is amazing! Thanks for such a lovely video!
Hi Laurie. In the lastest Tea Time magazine (March/April), there is an article on having Afternoon Tea in NYC. Some larger hotels do aftrenoon tea as well and it is a treat. I used to go when I lived in Chicago. Hope you find the chance to do that in NYC (BTW, I am upstate in the Mohawk Valley)
Oh I think there are great places to have afternoon tea in NYC, you should give it a try. I know what you mean, we find VD far too commercialised as well, hence we never buy presents etc.

I just thought of something, why not plan an afternoon tea☕, at your home, for a few friends &/or family members?
A few years ago, I invited all my female cousin's, their daughters and my Aunt's for an afternoon tea and it was surprisingly a great success and most enjoyable.
I highly recommend you try this idea yourself. It's a delightful way to get together, relaxing for everyone and for the cost of one person's fee at a hotel (approximately $125), you may possibly purchase all the ingredients. (*It cost me far more, but having said that, there were about 20 women attending.)
Next time I will REALLY simplify the afternoon tea and cut down on the food as I had far too much and ended up sending goodies home with everyone.(🙄LoL).

I love your video. I am from nearby but now live in Australia. In 2016 my cousin took me to the cafe you were in. It was stunning. Beautiful chinaware and food. In the early 70s I worked there for three years in the office. We had two royal visits, one from Prince Phillip and another from the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. Members of the royal family had shares in the Wedgwood group in those days. I am amazed at how they have redeveloped the site. Although they still produce ware it is nowhere near what they used to produce. But I used to love going to work as the factory is set in the beautiful countryside of Barlaston. Hem Heath used to be the site of a large coal mine. You have brought back lovely memories for me so thank you xx

Thank you for taking me on the visit to Wedgwood Kirsten and Joerg. The site has completely changed since I visited. You used to be able to watch the potters decorate pieces behind a huge window. It was much more rustic in those days. I did pick up some seconds and carried them carefully home to Australia.

Eating is one of the daily joys we have so food should be served on beautiful dishes such as Wedgewood (or any beautiful dish) on a daily basis to enhance the eating experience for your loved ones (that is one of many reasons I watch Kirsten and Joerg) In this case, Joerg was surrounded by beautiful dishes, then Beautiful and cute Kirsten gave him the sweetest Valentines Card! My daughters and I found a beautiful tearoom near us in Omaha, Nebraska called Chocolate Abeil. We went to an afternoon tea and near the end, we had a chocolate tasting. They make the most beautiful chocolates that are almost to pretty to eat, but we did. Your Valentine Tea was beautiful and very sweet.

What a lovely place. Wedgewood designs are so nice and the museum there is so very interesting. I was shocked at first when I saw the price of the afternoon tea, £25 per person. But I must say that they gave you a very good selection of teas, sandwiches, cakes etc, so the price wasn't so very shocking really 😜

INTERESTING,...the average price for an afternoon tea here is about $75- $125/per person.
I just loved "window shopping" with you two! All the chinaware, especially the tea sets, was beautiful. I felt the warmth and love from your afternoon tea together. Valentine's day is just a few days away, and here where I live, the nights are still long and cold. And for me, Valentine's day is a time for celebrating all the people I love. So I hung up red and pink heart-shaped LED lights on my porch to brighten the darkness and cheer up the neighborhood.

OMG! I collect Wedgwood! Josiah Wedgwood was a fascinating man. I've watched a number of documentaries on him, as well as a Time Team episode where they excavate one of the earlier potteries of his. He's worth looking into.
Yes and he belonged to the Lunar Society, hence the name of the cafe I suppose.

I particularly enjoyed this video because I adore Wedgwood blue. I have a fairly extensive collection of pieces which I have collected over the past forty years. Wow! I was there in 1996. I got lost asked at local gas station for directions and they were clueless (pre GPS) Final stop at a convenience store and an older woman was able to give me directions. Fantastic video guys. I only knew on other couple that had that much love for each other and they shared 60 years together and never a day went by that they didn’t say I love you.
Absolutely lovely. I was envious of that marvellous gluten free selection of treats. I visited the new Western Australian Museum last weekend, and they have a Wedgewood Portland vase on display there too, along with some other Wedgewood porcelain of the same era .

Lovely pre-Valentine's Day tea / trip together. Always a scrumptious selection of (too much) food to enjoy. Didn't see masks being worn. Has the indoor mask restriction been lifted? Happy Valentine's Day from US.
Thank you! We do wear masks indoors when shopping (as do a lot of other people do), they are no longer mandatory in England but you have to wear them in Wales.

We married on Valentine's day I was 16 new husband 19. We had brought the wedding forward by three years following a terminal diagnosis of a parent.
We will be celebrating 53years this month.
It's the best decision I ever made.
Before someone squeals I ruined my life I actually or rather we both achieved our degree and in my case a second ( masters) we both had successful careers in fact I ended my working life as an international lecturer and somewhat fittingly my final lecture was presented at the same university my husband studied at and where he retired from as department head.
Just being together is still the greatest thrill. We must honestly be one of the few couples who enjoyed lockdown and just because alone together.
Gosh that looks scrumptious! I wish they served tea as a meal here.
