stoked was definitely my favourite show over td at one point. something about the summer vibes and the chill shenanigans between friends is so warm and fuzzy and fun to watch. and I know he’s kidding mostly but how they all rip into each other and cause chaos makes the dynamics better

The thing about the "haha boys kissing is a joke" era is that it turns every guy in their shows bi. I'm convinced Reef, Broseph, and Johnny are all bi but they're all accidentally convincing each other it's just straight guys being straight.
This is also Owen’s whole deal in Total Drama. He’s the only guy consistently fawning over Justin and Alejandro, and it’s supposed to be “oh, he’s acting like the girls, isn’t that wacky?” Instead, it just makes it clear that Owen’s type is buff tan dudes. There’s no other way to interpret it, other than that. Why do Justin and Alejandro’s charms work on Owen and not on any of the other guys? Cus he’s bi, duh.

It's not sincere but it is a version of queer-coding (subtly expressing that a character is queer)

I have this show mixed in my head with another surfing show, Blue Water High, which must have been showing around the same time for me. So it was very disconcerting to realise that there was no episode where one of the dudes gets lost in a forest and tries to be a survivalist like his mother's book says but then he realises his mother is a hack and has to be picked up by the teacher character.

Shame the rest of Aussie TV was *shit.*

The show truly does have an "atmosphere" or "ambiance" to it... not necessarily tropical, maybe slightly tropical... it's got a very specific northwest coast vibe to it. Warm summery adolescent memories... as someone who is also 23, I feel a great deal of nostalgia rewatching this show.

Interestingly enough 6teen originally aired in 2005 on Nickelodeon and stopped airing somewhere in 2006. It was then later picked up by Cartoon Network. Therefore making it the first of the three to air in the U.S.

I remember when this aired. I never watched it though. I saw some bits of it while waiting for other shows to air though. Until now, all I remembered was the name of the show, the mascot, the scene where the manager is secretly glad to be rid of the annoying family, and that there were talking fish (though that one was only once you got to them).

I remember when this aired. I never watched it though. I saw some bits of it while waiting for other shows to air though. Until now, all I remembered was the name of the show, the mascot, the scene where the manager is secretly glad to be rid of the annoying family, and that there were talking fish (though that one was only once you got to them).
