WAIT I WAS GOING TO COMMENT THE SAME THING WHEN I CLICKED ON THIS VIDEO STOOOOP! they played it on a projector on the wall and i remember everyone being PISSED that it ended on that cliffhanger
My friend was equally upset at the lack of an ending, so she emailed a bunch of the writers until she got a response. Here's the ending! "Hey, sorry for the slow response but at first I thought this was spam or something... Glad you enjoyed the show and it's been a LONG time since I thought about that climactic season ender. As showrunner and head-writer, I was mostly in charge of the stories and season 'arc', including the 'Lucifractor explosion'... I think I still have the Lucifractor prop somewhere in my office. (!) Actually the initial finale idea that 'everyone is trapped in a big explosion' came from the producer's budget concerns - they wanted me to make it possible to cut cast members in season 3. And we never imagined that we'd get cancelled after 2 seasons because the show was doing very well on Disney Channel (I think it was #1 or #2 in the ratings at the time). BUT it turns out Disney cancelled us anyway because they didn't own the show... My plan WAS to reveal a hidden portal or tunnel in the basement of the house - my memory's a little blurry here - and then I wanted to start season 3 with all our main characters being transported to either a) Some important Vampire Castle in Transylvania (so we could do a mini European adventure for a few episodes), OR they all get thrown back in time to the founding days WhiteChapel (1880's or so) when Jesse first showed and ran things... For a while there was a plan with Disney for us to do the Transylvania idea as a summer TV movie, and possibly an ending to the show/series. But all those plans fell through and we all moved on to other jobs. Sigh. THERE. I admit I feel bad about the way things ended, but a) the producers insisted and b) we were pretty confident there'd be a season 3 and I knew the writers and I would have fun coming up with interesting ways to solve the plot puzzle we'd given ourselves!"
I’m just now realizing that Teen Wolf also introduced a nerdy blonde girl named Erica that lacked confidence until she was bitten by a man in a black leather jacket who hangs around high schoolers way too much and then she becomes a supernatural creature, becomes way more confident and is acknowledged as attractive, and becomes weirdly ok with violence a year after this show premiered.
I always liked how this show was actually shot like a tv show. And didn’t have the same camera in one spot filming style that all the other live action Disney/Nickelodeon shows were using
Are you talking single vs multi-camera? Cause plenty of non kids TV have used multi-camera setups for decades, it's a pretty popular way to shoot sitcoms
@weir9996 Their saying how multi camera shows weren't really on Disney or Nickelodeon around the time. My babysitter's a vampire and Labrats were the only Disney shows I was able to watch so I'm not sure if its true though.
18:46 Regarding the whole 'Erica not being a Tumblr girl anymore' thing; I always assumed her obsession with vampires was the reason she changed so much when she became one. She's just been given an opportunity to live out her Wattpad fanfics
Yes I think it´s a great exemple of when someone literally just needs more self-confidence to become the best version of yourself, I think if there was a season 3 there could be an episode where the vampire friends become humans again for like a week because of the Lucifractor thing and then Sarah remembers why she wanted to be human again so much, Rory is bored because he can´t fly and has to walk and Erica would have an existential crisis because after her makeover she built her own personality based on the fact she was now a vampire so without it she didn´t feel as empowered or special, I´m a Berica shipper so I think it would be the perfect moment for them to get closer because Benny already liked her back then so they could have a conversation just the two of the where he could give her the emotional support she needed and Erica would see that she shouldn´t be so mean to him because he was a sweet guy after all
@@yakobi8434 Well... she still has her issues, I like Erica but there are many moments where I think she is a very toxic person (vampire), even before she was transformed, in the movie Sarah tried to protect her and Erica not only refused to listen to her best (and only) friend but as soon as she got a makeover she turned her back on Sarah started dating her ex who she knew was the one Sarah hated the most, I think she was very poorly written, in the movie Erica never apologized to Sarah or chose her over the evil vampires, actually she was willing to hurt Sarah for them, her best and only true friend, they only became friends again in the end of the movie because the evil vampires were killed so she had no reason not to be her friend again after that, thing is Erica only sticks with Sarah because she is her only friend whenever some cooler option shows up she forgets Sarah and goes after this other option, she also gets herself in a lot of trouble by not listening to Sarah then their gang have to go and help her, also she refused to help Sarah when she needed money in the first episode, she disrespected her will by pressuring her to become a fully-fledged vampire because being friends with a fledgeling was inconvenient for her, in the talent show episode she intended to let her down and didn´t tell her, and the flushed episode showed that Erica was a bullied kid who dreamt of becoming the bully which I think is very upsetting
I think the best thing about the blue moon episode is the big twist on WHY dog dude acts the way he does- He's super overly familiar, hungry, and offputtingly friendly, and the entire episode keeps building the supposed reveal to be that he's some big threat maliciously worming his way into their lives... but then you find out that he's... just a dog? like straight up he's just the human and supernatural equivalent of a dog. friendly, hungry, and just wants to play. There was never any threat, just paranoia on behalf of the heroes. Like even the weird scene where he tries to get the one kid to brush him makes perfect sense because... dog. its actually a pretty damn good storyline for a series like this because its a reminder to the heroes that not everything supernatural is automatically bad, and could've been a good lesson for people watching the show on not making assumptions and judgments on others. Also its actively criminal that dog dude doesn't become a permanent main cast member.
@@xBINARYGODx actually THEY never said it was negative 🤣 you and all the other people who can't take a joke are READING it as negative The rest of us chill mfs love Sarah's violent outbursts lmfao 🤣 it's a Canadian kids show she's girl bossing This IS modern feminism 💯 (might be negative to y'all lmao, but we over here can take jokes)
What got me about the "ethan seeing dead people" plot point was that what we saw on screen wasn't even close to what Ethan was actually seeing. Bennys grandma not having a head and such confirms that. What we see is a toned down version just so they have an easier more PG way of portraying it. Ethan is seeing mangled corpses in the faces of his friends and family! that is FUCKED!
Yup, rewatching it years later it immediately made me think of the sixth sense (which I think they were probably going for) and that type of imagery does NOT belong on a kids show even if this one was more mature than it’s competition.
I still don't forgive them for leaving us on a cliffhanger. I was 10 at the time and I was so curious to wonder what happened to them. 10 years later and we still have no word about it.
At least Angel gave us a comic book continuation to close off the S5 cliffhanger, but I think they didn’t do that because they wanted one thing to be different from Buffy.
I’m just speculating here, but I think the allegory for vampires needing to be invited in pertains to “ you have to allow theses demons to corrupt you” I mean there’s no way you’d actually be corrupt if you invite the right one in 😅(corny I know. But you get it)
Man the ending of this video was quite anticlimactic, I was 12 at the time of the finale, and I just like, accepted the fact that they died?? Like the show ended, with the town blowing up, and never returned, so me being a kid I was just like “welp, guess the characters I’ve grown attached to over the past several years are canonically dead, this definitely won’t give me trust issues”.
Once I read the comment of someone saying he found the leaked plot of seasons 3-6 in a website that doesn’t exist anymore, like some of the writers leaked what they intended to do, I don’t know if it was real, if it was fake or if the guy was just trolling us but if what he said was real then I’m actually glad it was cancelled because after the 3rd season the show was going to lose it’s essence, if would feel more like an actual series and wouldn’t be fun anymore
The vice-principal guy would be the main villain of the series and instead of having mostly stand-alone episodes and a few keystone episodes it would all feel like one big movie just like Teen Wolf or The Originals, some of the original characters were going to leave the main story and some new characters were going to show out of nowhere including this vampire called Biff that was going to be another romantic interest for Sarah alongside Ethan making it a romantic triangle which would really piss me off even if the character is a good person, I don’t want to like him
They said that after season 3 Rory was going to leave WhiteChapel for whatever reason and was only going to show up again in a few episodes of the next seasons and that kept me thinking: when a main character suddenly leaves the show in the middle of it’s story it’s usually because the writers changed their minds about something or if the actor wants to leave for some reason, but that’s not the case because it was written long before it was supposed to happen so it wasn’t a last-minute change and Cameron Kennedy had a really good time playing Rory so the conclusion I got was: they intended to get rid of the character because they intended to go on a darker path and they didn’t think he would fit in it because Rory represented the shows initial essence, truth be told no other show/series/movie would have the guts to write a character like him that was goofy and still had so much relevance to the main storyline at the point he shows up in every episode
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 Maybe they could make the more plot driven thing work. But then again most of this show's charm comes from the absolute absurdity in the one off episodes. The main cast carried the show so switching them out would be shooting themselves in the foot unless it was done well, it could easily lead to the show tanking if people don't latch onto the new characters. And Love Triangles always feel like a copout to me personally, it's like they can't figure out how to make characters who are in a relationship and also functional individuals so they have to through a curve ball at them to keep you interested. Maybe this stuff could've worked but it had a high chance of just making the show worse
Okay to be fair, with the head cheerleader going to school forever thing. I can ABSOLUTELY see somebody who's like, super ultra head-cheerleader popular in high school wanting to relive that over and over again. Like, she peaked in high school and now that she's immortal she's gonna relive her glory days.
The fact they casted Bindi Irwin as a guest in season 2 but in the mirror episode, the episode immediately AFTER the alligator episode, will always astound me like......how did you not capitalize on having Steve Irwin's daughter as a guest for the alligator episode...
The way Episode 2's "We're the forces of nature, that's what makes a star We may look like girls but that's not all we are." HAS NEVER LEFT MY BRAIN The chant the cheerleaders do? Like maybe that was camp.
I take the werewolf guy just being genuinely friendly as a joke around the fact that he is a normal ass dog man instead of a wolf man. Just likes to exercise, eat, and be friendly.
There was this pizza guy in real life (allegedly), who was certainly almost murdered. Poor guy thought he was about to get laid by some chicks, but as soon as he went inside he heard someone scream from upstairs. The sick chicks had a look of worry on their faces and one even exclaimed "shit!" under her breath Not sure how this correlates to Vampire Diaries or My Babysitter is a Vampire, but... it's a story that involves a pizza guy
I KNEW I RECOGNIZED THAT PLOT POINT!! I thought I had just watched a separate MBaV video. Here I had just finished a Vampire Diaries video not too long before I started this one
You know, while in execution the “Vampires in High School” trope is shit, ideally it makes sense. Teenagers are impressionable, gullible, immature, and impulsive, which makes them easier to manipulate and to turn. As a vampire the idea of being young forever seems ideal at first and they’re more likely to give into their urges because they lack self control and discipline. Also probably explains why Jesse stayed at White Chapel as a student. He sacrificed his entire clan just to kill one guy, and he needed more soldiers. There were probably people he turned before his current clan that either left or tried to overthrow him so he settles on teenagers because they’ll respect him more due to the gap in power and experience.
its because its an analogy for intimacy and forbidden intimacy, and its set at time that preteens could relate to and get the themes. This show was a lowkey hornfest for 10-12 y/o boys when it dropped
I dunno man I'd personally prefer to be 36. I could still go to highschool as a teacher if I absolutely had to but more importantly I could also lead nations every 40-50 years. Seems like my value to the council or whatever would be way higher if I could push through legislation that lets vampires become a protected class or at least have easier access to blood banks.
Fun fact: In Dracula and Carmilla, vampires aren’t affected by sunlight! That change to vampire lore was made by the movie Nosferatu. (Bram Stoker’s wife sued the makers of the movie because of how similar it was to Dracula and most copies of the movie were destroyed) In all vampire media before Nosferatu vampires were just a little bothered by sunlight, it made them uncomfortable but it didn’t kill them.
As someone who was in the fandom, I can confirm that the MAIN fandom ship was "Bethan." I'd go so far as to say probably 3/4 of shipping content were of those two.
I’ll never understand why people use a small budget as a criticism for the show like that isn’t the show’s fault they did the best with the resources they were given this applies to any show on any network
And then you have Agents of Shield that on very low budget managed to have some of the best cgi imaging for a tv show I have ever seen. Like I’m still confused how they managed to do that. Especially season 6 and 7 with very low bugets for a show of its size and yet somehow had these incredible spaceships like how did you do that 😂
"how DARE this show not magically have more money!!" lol. I can definitely say that under-utilization of a budget is a real problem movies and shows like to do. A ton of movies and shows feel like they put all the claimed budget into the actors and nothing into trying to make it look good or have better writing. Some, you're not even sure where the money went at all. Some movies look like they were made for pennies, you look it up, and they have 6 figures as their budget, but you can't find anything that'd be worth that money in the end result, so that comes across as a big problem due to that. If you have a small budget and try to make it work the best you can, that's very different from having the budget and just cutting corners, and I feel many people who criticize something for the budget are really talking about laziness, and not having the words for it.
The “human love interest gets bitten by the evil vampire and now our main vampire must suck the venom out but it somehow is dangerous for them” is directly lifted from the first twilight.
Totally agree Rory was the best part of the show. I remember having the weirdest biggest crush on his character as a kid, i had even printed out a picture of his actor and placed in a note book surrounded by hearts. I guess that was the twink that started it all for me . Also the babysitter was low-key part of my bi awakening as well💀
ive literally been DREAMING of someone making a retrospective video for this series. I was obsessed with it as a kid, but never actually watched too much disney as a kid so i only got to watch a few episodes. thank you for actually remembering this shit
When I was younger, I didn’t think it was cancelled, but that it would take a reaaallly long time to make the next season because of special effects and stuff. I’m still waiting for my questionable vampire teen series, mouse.

Where would I go to find the episodes? He mentions it leaving Netflix in the video, so is it ripped on UA-cam or something? Edit: I did infact find the full series here. The movie can be bought and the series has been ripped, but that's highly unstable, so I'd still like to know of any more stable ways of accessing, should I want to watch, say, 5 years later, in case it gets deleted by then. Preferably at something over 240p, lol.
@@Naokarma the roku channel has the movie and the first season for free! season 2 is unfortunately not legally available anywhere though :( but fun fact, the version of the first season roku has is the original canadian cut and includes some scenes that were censored for disney so that's fun

I remember watching the movie as a kid and straight up getting “allegory for having sex vibes” or at least fooling around. But, now as an adult I realize it was actually an allegory for sexual assault cuz the way he talks to her about turning her, there are definitely coercion vibes. Also, cheerleaders at my school were required to wear their uniforms all school day every time there was a prep rally or football game. Football team had to wear their jerseys as well and carry around their gear. We also had programs called “academics “ that each had a special uniform (medical academy had scrubs, most of the other just had button ups with a logo) and every Wednesday we’d have to wear our uniform as a grade
You dont have to answer if its too personal but did you go to school in the us? I've never heard of a school doing a program like that before, it sounds pretty cool
@@Beansquishy Yeah I did, but I think it was an area thing for me because it was introduced to us before we went to high school as a new thing they were trying (basically showing us the programs so we know what we want to choose). The program I was in was actually for Video Game Design which I loved
Same, our cheer team, football team have to wear uniforms on fridays and specifically for a theature program I'm in we are usually instructed to wear a shirt with the program logo when on fieldtrips
In my school most of the sports teams wore their jerseys on game day but certain sports weren’t allowed to. I played volleyball and we weren’t allowed to wear ours bc they were too tight/short just to wear around school, so instead my team used to dress a certain way on game days like all white, all black, fancy etc.. Actually now that I think of it the only sports that couldn’t wear their uniforms were volleyball, swimming, and wrestling bc the cheerleaders were still able to wear theirs which I always found hypocritical bc the only difference between them and volleyball uniforms is that cheerleading had a short pleated skirt over their spandex(to be fair most of the cheerleaders only wore the top of their uniform paired with leggings or something bc otherwise they’d be pretty cold but it still annoyed me).
I get the Dan and Phil bit was a joke but at what extent is something just a joke and when does it become a homophobic comment Phil is gay but uses male pronouns Dan is queer and uses male pronouns The female equivalent isn't two men so the joke makes no sense I dunno maybe more people need to watch the Thai TV show Bad Buddy the series to see why referring to someone as the opposite gender is a really old man thing and that honestly we should be better than our grandparents
Rewatching this show as an adult is truly the best experience. Because you realize nobody has morals, Ethan and Benny should've been an actual couple, and Rory is the best character. I still stand by my opinion that Jilly Putty (Or Double Negative) would be an AMAZING episode if it was given a higher rating treatment. Being a kids show really holds the concept back (which you can obviously say for basically any episode of this, but this one specifically). I honestly think it's my favorite episode just because Evil Benny actually feels and acts downright sinister to me, I wish they could've done more with it. Great video. I literally remember watching the movie on TV when it was first put on Disney Channel, and I'll always view it fondly.
I love the fact that the fact that not knowing if they would get a third series accidentally made them make the craziest ending where the three main characters all get blown up while the two members of the main cast that got away go fly away to join a cult.
the Vampire lore according to My babysitter's a vampire The sunlight doesn't kill vampires, but it can harm them and annoys their eyes. They sometimes need to wear sunglasses and sunscreen in the daylight to avoid this problem.
Yes, people do actually wear their cheer uniforms around school. My friends said some wear it for attention, some had no clean laundry, & sometimes it was game day.
Recently (about 3 years back) Cameron Kennedy had done an interview in which he said "-Well it wasn't a Disney Channel show it was a Canadian show. You should've seen what they made us cut out."
@@BlueBlazeKing the jock werewolf is Craig, one of the vampires from the movie is the roommate with hiv from the college storylines, the evil Girl Scout is Imogene’s ballerina girlfriend, and Erica was the purple dragon girl from the episode that Emma takes her dress off in school. There’s another one, but I can’t remember
first, as a kid i was like in love with rory and im glad i was always like embarrassed for finding him cute but now i’m like yea, why wouldn’t i have loved him. second, i’m so glad i rewatched all of it a while ago because i didn’t even know it was being removed
SAME. I thought he was cute and when the show ended and a few years passed and I thought about it, I got a little embarrassed too but now on retrospect, I live in my truth that Rory was my childhood crush lmao
The Wizards of Waverly Place Maxine story line will live in my head forever because when I first watched the episode where max gets turned into maxine, I thought to myself "damn I wish that were me." That was years before I realized I was trans, and it's one of the earliest memories of feelings of being trans I had.
Ethan actually admits he enjoyed dressing like a girl. I'm not saying there are no straight guys who are into that, but in retrospect, he and Max are probably the closest Disney Channel has gotten to genderfluid leading characters. I mean, the former showrunner for Wizards of Waverly Place admitted he wanted to explicitly portray Alex and Stevie as a lesbian couple. So it's not out of the realm of possibility. I don't know if I can say the same about Teletoon. Canada is a lot less prudey.
Y'know, I found this channel originally from the total drama video, but I've discovered that there's so much more. I've binged so many of the videos, and I really enjoy all of them, even if some of them talk about things I don't know about at all, they're still immensely enjoyable.
There is no way Gravity Falls and My Babysitter’s a Vampire aired at the same time… I feel like I was an adult for one and a child for another and I don’t know how to deal with that
I have no idea which version of the lyrics is correct BUT I will say that "nice but not in a heart that's pure" does kinda make sense bc vampires are often viewed as being spiritually "impure" creatures, so she's nice, but still impure of heart due to being a vamp! I was OBSESSED with this show as a kid (and lowkey still am), good vid! It's good to know other ppl remember this lmao
Yea but she refused to kill anyone so that gives her a pure heart Naughty part implies she’s a bit mischievous but still a kind and selfless person so that fits better imo
This was the review I’ve always wanted for this show. My Babysitters a Vampire was one of my favorites show growing up and it’s a shame it never got a proper ending. I still keep up with Vanessa Morgan’s works and is why I started watching Riverdale. May this show forever be remembered in our souls and with it coming to HBO Max, maybe it’ll get a reboot at some point.
Jessie injected venom into Ethan, so drinking the contaminated blood before it completely spread is what saved him. As for why Erica didn't save Ethan, the theory I know of is she views vampirism as higher than humanity so she was pressuring Sarah to become a full vampire, and she didn't see Ethan turning as a bad thing that she should stop.
I think this was the only Disney show that showed blood and had parts of the world beyond vampires that made me interested. Seriously, after the movie intro I was hooked to this show as a kid.
@@ctq.jenY99 I miss these shows even if they were a bit cheesy at least they had something going on. Nowadays the only reason I am even on apps like Disney + is to watch all the 90s and early 2000s shows. All the new stuff is garbage or boring.
Unfortunately, Matthew Knight has quit acting as far as I know. Everyone else is very close online and still interact with MBaV fans aswell so we could have a movie, if Ethan died or was missing.
Also with the whole “high schooler vampires” trope: thats like, the least secure way to keep your secret. You could believably spend a decade or two at the same job or something before hopping to another one, but you can only stay in high school for so long. Like, even if you transfer schools theyre going to need transcripts and stuff from previous school years
I remember watching the show and liking it, but I had a friend in middle and high school that was OBSESSED with it. She rewatched it practically every lunch break all through middle and high school. She made all the characters in the sims. this was a great peek into her mind :D
In the back of my mind every day I hope we get an ending to this series in any type of form it doesn't matter if it is a animated movie/show, Book, or even a Comic. I just want to know what happened to these characters I've fell in love with all those years ago.
THERE WAS A SECOND SEASON?! Holy hell. I thought it cut off. I’m living in a fever dream. I absolutely mixed in some season two episodes into my season one memories.
"no high school principal is innocent" is accurate yeah "what does rory do in his free time" probably make out with whichever main character(s) arent on screen
Literally everything you said about this show is what I've thought about it for years, like even down to the enjoying it because it's male led It sucks that it never got more popular, it deserved a third season and it sucks it ended on a cliffhanger like it did
As a Bisexual, I also don't understand what's hot about pillow fights. Maybe it's supposed to be cuz everyone's wearing pajamas? And moving around/jumping on the bed? But if that's the case, I don't get why a pillow fight specifically has to be the avenue
As someone who also doesn't get it, I think it's because it isn't actually hot. I think it just used to be an old trope, that girls were wearing sexy pj's, usually little slips and nighties, and having pillow fights. So it connects with the "girl fights are hot" trope too.
@@SJisReading some sex therapists say pillow fights leads to better sex Childlike play . . . brings excitement to the relationship, relieves stress and boredom, and builds intimacy,” says sex therapist Nan Wise, Ph.D. “I’m talking about that rough-and-tumble play, like wrestling, running around like kids, playing games like touch football, or tag, or Twister.” Getting into an immature mindset worked for Tracy, 41, and her husband Chris, 42. “We were in bed on our computers, in a rut, so I just decided to start a pillow fight,” she says. “He got a little mad, but he pinned me down, and the next thing you know we’re having sex.”
@@SJisReading I agree, I think stuff like this is led by the male gaze. I wouldn't be surprised if this weird pillow fight fantasy was started by some creepy old dude.
A large part of the old lore that vampires have no reflection, is due to the fact that a lot of old mirrors had silver in them. Silver was seen to ward off evil (I.e. silver bullet to kill a werewolf) so that was why they couldn’t be seen in a mirror. Many adaptations have also used this logic with cameras too, but they either skip over it or add their own logic to it 😂
Hi real life Canadian here, ready to drop some early 2000s/2010s lore! In small(er) Canadian towns it wasn't all that weird for people to kinda invite the pizza delivery guy in. they didnt like chill in the house or anything but you do the payment inside! Also the Canadiaboo comment was so funny! I grew up LOVING this show and was never like "woah this is Canadian asf" until I rewatched it recently; it was like ofc it's pop wdym, what's soda?? Atticus Mitchell is a stark reminder that sometimes we do in fact say aboot even tho we all deny it...
I unironically thought I dreamt up this show and movie because NO ONE i knew ever heard of it. seeing this video in my recommended was honestly such a treat and a blast from the past. I remember watching the finale and being excited to see what came next and being so confused when I never saw episodes airing on afterwards. great vid, very fun to watch!
i loved this show so much growing up, there was nothing better for a spooky-obsessed child than watching gravity falls and mbav back to back!! i have such fond memories of it. let me tell you i think my first heartbreak was watching that cliffhanger and waiting an entire year only to find out it wasn’t getting renewed😭
I think the oh meaning behind the whole “vampires not appearing in mirrors/photos” thing is because a long time ago, mirrors were silver-backed. Silver is a “pure metal”, so vampires wouldn’t show up.
if i had a nickel for every time a blond haired girl named erica who was a nerd/loser was bit and turned into a creature of the night, simultaneously becoming cool and popular i would have two nickels. its not a lot, but weird that it has happened twice.
YOU COULDNT HAVE POSTED THIS AT A BETTER TIME I’ve been on a sudden craving for content around this show and it just saddened me how little people chat about it. I love this show and movie so much.
The flute used to summon all of the zombie animals away mimics the story of Pied Piper who used a flute to summon all the rats carrying Bubonic plague out of the city.
If I had a nickle for every time a fantasy disney channel sitcom about two nerdy best friends who meet a cool girl with superpowers who needs a cure, and are classmates with a duo consisting of a cool blonde girl and a wierdo, that leaned further into serialized stories as time went on, and got canned after a season 2 finale that would have changed everything.. I would have 2 nickles. Which isn't a lot, but.. ..I love Mighty Med.
If you haven’t I would watch House of Anubis. It gave me similar vibes or maybe I just happen to watch both these shows around the same time and they are forever intertwined in my brain.
They were both their respective network's import shows that lacked laugh tracks, so I see the similarities. And also twelve-year-old me had a massive crush on the main boys from each show, so that further tangles them together in my mind.
Finally.... FINALLY SOMEONE MAKES A RETROSPECTIVE ON MY CHILDHOOD! I absolutely ADORED this show as a kid and even now as a 20 year old. I rewatch it every spooky season and i remember all of season one by heart. This video is PERFECTION as a My Babysitters a Vampire OG fan ❤
God, I’ve seen Independence Daze so many times; like 3 times as much as any episode, especially season 1. I really like it. Sets up the very satisfying finale incredibly well
In ‘Welcome Back Dusker,’ I’ve come to the conclusion that the spell was probably cast by Principal Stern. That’s the episode he first shows up in, and we find out at the end of season 2 that he’s evil and hates vampires. I remember Ethan asking “Who IS powerful enough to conjure it up?” and Sarah responded, “Whoever it is, they REALLY don’t like vampires.”
In episode "Smells Like Trouble", I saw the perfume being named "Dusk" (probably someone changed it in the series shown on Netflix?) -- as in, the vampire movie that was mentioned in the "My Babysitter's A Vampire" movie. Even in the line where Benny tried to make the girls smell the perfume said it was "new official Dusk perfume" and that's why they tried it. They were still a fan of the show.
I loved Erica, Ethan, and Benny and Benny’s grandma. They were the best part of the show especially the werewolf episode and the episode where Ethan’s little sister’s doll comes to life! I remember having so much with the series until it was cancelled, like that werewolf show called “Wolfblood” that was on Disney channel until that show was cancelled too.
I loved this show when I was a kid. I remember even two years after the show was cancelled I would still look it up for when they’d make season 3 or a second film.
Sarah's actress also appeared on that ANT Farm show from disney, and they kept referencing the show but no one watching got it because the audience had 0 crossover
Thank god someone else remembers this show. I absolutely obsessed over it when I was younger, and I’m pretty sure it kick started my love for spooky supernatural shit. I hope it gets a revival or at least a spiritual successor someday. It had so much potential!!
Moral: Never end a season on a cliffhanger. Newer shows keep getting canceled left and right they don't have the luxury of One Piece. It's better to make every season 1 self-contained story that wraps up.
wolf blood was on disney??? i watched it on netflix, even dressed up as a mid-turned wolfblood one year for halloween with the black veins and everything. no one understood my costume :( that show really plummeted in writing quality as it went on though, a shame
If I remember correctly, the Lucifractor-blast was supposed to eradicate all magic from the town, leaving the vampires who left the vicinity the victor of the magical powers. But yes, I'm not against a second movie.
@@gokairedwillcipher Uhm, you can say so. As things stand, Benny DIED. Ethan DIED. Sarah DIED. When I said "eradicated" I ment that. If you had magic - you got vapourised. That's why all vampire left the town. The queen knew what is coming. Her goal was to win the magic creature war. And with the Lucfractor blowing up - she did. No more competition. With a second movie you can handwave away these implications, but yes, you must do a "they seemingly lost their magic" trope, or a resurrection trope, or something like that.
i remember seeing, watching, and rewatching this show. i wasn't exactly disappointed in its ending cause it was 2012 and i naively had faith that they'd wrap it up with another season or movie. so i waited! and waited. and waited...
i remember this show playing when i was in the psych ward

I’m just now realizing that Teen Wolf also introduced a nerdy blonde girl named Erica that lacked confidence until she was bitten by a man in a black leather jacket who hangs around high schoolers way too much and then she becomes a supernatural creature, becomes way more confident and is acknowledged as attractive, and becomes weirdly ok with violence a year after this show premiered.
That's 2 nickels.
Quite a bit
Hangs around teenagers way too much 💀
Caroline from The Vampire Diaries also. She wasn’t nerdy in the beginning but everyone liked her more once she was a vampire 😅

I always liked how this show was actually shot like a tv show. And didn’t have the same camera in one spot filming style that all the other live action Disney/Nickelodeon shows were using
Facts it was a different feeling
And no laugh track
Are you talking single vs multi-camera? Cause plenty of non kids TV have used multi-camera setups for decades, it's a pretty popular way to shoot sitcoms
@weir9996 Their saying how multi camera shows weren't really on Disney or Nickelodeon around the time. My babysitter's a vampire and Labrats were the only Disney shows I was able to watch so I'm not sure if its true though.
@@Catmeowww07383 I'm pretty sure most Disney shows were multi-camera, it's easier to shoot that way, so there weren't many single-camera shows
18:46 Regarding the whole 'Erica not being a Tumblr girl anymore' thing; I always assumed her obsession with vampires was the reason she changed so much when she became one. She's just been given an opportunity to live out her Wattpad fanfics
Literal reason why Erica is a great character.
I never thought of that before. I definitely admire her character now!
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 a bully + bad friend + a vampire = not good
I think the best thing about the blue moon episode is the big twist on WHY dog dude acts the way he does- He's super overly familiar, hungry, and offputtingly friendly, and the entire episode keeps building the supposed reveal to be that he's some big threat maliciously worming his way into their lives...
but then you find out that he's... just a dog? like straight up he's just the human and supernatural equivalent of a dog. friendly, hungry, and just wants to play.
Also its actively criminal that dog dude doesn't become a permanent main cast member.
dog man
He didn't even have to be a regular character to work well. Just him showing up once every few episodes or so to show he's still around and stuff.
oh, that last line wants me to make an au fic that has him becoming a main character n joining their gang 😭
he could've been their scooby 😭😭😭

I'm still mad that I don't know if Ethan and Sarah get together
This was the FIRST show that I understood what continuity was and then to have THAT finale. I was distraught!
But you get it)
@@JayKayEllEmmWhere can I find it?
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 what were the plans?
I take the werewolf guy just being genuinely friendly as a joke around the fact that he is a normal ass dog man instead of a wolf man. Just likes to exercise, eat, and be friendly.
Inviting the pizza guy into the house is also a plot point in The Vampire Diaries and it makes no sense there either
There was this pizza guy in real life (allegedly), who was certainly almost murdered. Poor guy thought he was about to get laid by some chicks, but as soon as he went inside he heard someone scream from upstairs. The sick chicks had a look of worry on their faces and one even exclaimed "shit!" under her breath
Not sure how this correlates to Vampire Diaries or My Babysitter is a Vampire, but... it's a story that involves a pizza guy

@@DrDolan2000I tried finding out more about this because it sounds fascinating but couldn’t find anything. Do you have any links or something?
You know, while in execution the “Vampires in High School” trope is shit, ideally it makes sense. Teenagers are impressionable, gullible, immature, and impulsive, which makes them easier to manipulate and to turn. As a vampire the idea of being young forever seems ideal at first and they’re more likely to give into their urges because they lack self control and discipline.
Also probably explains why Jesse stayed at White Chapel as a student. He sacrificed his entire clan just to kill one guy, and he needed more soldiers. There were probably people he turned before his current clan that either left or tried to overthrow him so he settles on teenagers because they’ll respect him more due to the gap in power and experience.
definitely speaks to their predatory nature
Why is this so well thought out, lol. Makes a lot of sense this way
its because its an analogy for intimacy and forbidden intimacy, and its set at time that preteens could relate to and get the themes.
(Bram Stoker’s wife sued the makers of the movie because of how similar it was to Dracula and most copies of the movie were destroyed)
In all vampire media before Nosferatu vampires were just a little bothered by sunlight, it made them uncomfortable but it didn’t kill them.

So... the main character was allegorically sexual assaulted at the end of season 1 and his babysitter had to suck Jesse's "juice" out of him?

I love the fact that the fact that not knowing if they would get a third series accidentally made them make the craziest ending where the three main characters all get blown up while the two members of the main cast that got away go fly away to join a cult.
I unironically loved this show as a kid. 100% never thought it would get this kind of attention. Rory is indeed the best character
the Vampire lore according to My babysitter's a vampire
The sunlight doesn't kill vampires, but it can harm them and annoys their eyes. They sometimes need to wear sunglasses and sunscreen in the daylight to avoid this problem.

@@AJ-xc4qealso there were lesbian moms in one episode of good luck Charlie. I know this cause it shocked me, because I watch episodes randomly

Plus Ethan’s blood is special I’m still surprised it was never brought up in future episodes
The Love potion episode was probably the most egregiously lifted from Buffy, and that's the one you didn't call out.
So was the cheerleader episode so some references ig
I think this was the only Disney show that showed blood and had parts of the world beyond vampires that made me interested. Seriously, after the movie intro I was hooked to this show as a kid.
That's because it wasn't a Disney show 😉 it was a Canadian show on Disney

Literally everything you said about this show is what I've thought about it for years, like even down to the enjoying it because it's male led
It sucks that it never got more popular, it deserved a third season and it sucks it ended on a cliffhanger like it did
As a Bisexual, I also don't understand what's hot about pillow fights. Maybe it's supposed to be cuz everyone's wearing pajamas? And moving around/jumping on the bed? But if that's the case, I don't get why a pillow fight specifically has to be the avenue
same here
I've never understood it either
As someone who also doesn't get it, I think it's because it isn't actually hot. I think it just used to be an old trope, that girls were wearing sexy pj's, usually little slips and nighties, and having pillow fights. So it connects with the "girl fights are hot" trope too.
@@SJisReading some sex therapists say pillow fights leads to better sex
Childlike play . . . brings excitement to the relationship, relieves stress and boredom, and builds intimacy,” says sex therapist Nan Wise, Ph.D. “I’m talking about that rough-and-tumble play, like wrestling, running around like kids, playing games like touch football, or tag, or Twister.”
Getting into an immature mindset worked for Tracy, 41, and her husband Chris, 42.

Theory: The parents didn't go on dates, they were swingers.
I think the oh meaning behind the whole “vampires not appearing in mirrors/photos” thing is because a long time ago, mirrors were silver-backed. Silver is a “pure metal”, so vampires wouldn’t show up.
And also Vampires hated sunlight. It kills them.
if i had a nickel for every time a blond haired girl named erica who was a nerd/loser was bit and turned into a creature of the night, simultaneously becoming cool and popular i would have two nickels. its not a lot, but weird that it has happened twice.
the way the cheerleader plot not only also occurred in Buffy, it also occurred in the very second episode of Buffy.
Yeah, some of the episodes are inspired of Buffy

YOU COULDNT HAVE POSTED THIS AT A BETTER TIME
I’ve been on a sudden craving for content around this show and it just saddened me how little people chat about it.
Sets up the very satisfying finale incredibly well
HOW COULD I FORGET “Why do we drive in a parkway and park in a driveway?”
That's a BBC show and over here it got 5 series and too much accompanying stuff.
i stopped watching wolfblood after bobby lockwood left the show
I loved this show when I was a kid.
This show deserves a reunion.
The cast and crew have said they want it to come back for years they just need someone interested in picking it up

If I remember correctly, the Lucifractor-blast was supposed to eradicate all magic from the town, leaving the vampires who left the vicinity the victor of the magical powers.
But yes, I'm not against a second movie.
So Benny lost his magic then? Poor Benny
