    I would add the time it takes to actually receive your first paycheck to the con side. I sold a roof day 1, and it still took 4 weeks to collect the check. As long as you're prepared for that you will be good.

      it does depend on the company you work for as well. if i sold on monday would get paid on friday. at least a week give or take a couple of days and if everything is squared, ex: downpayment, financing, contract signed that day

    Home improvement sales is a great career in general. BUT, if you're looking for a career and NOT a job, find a company that offers MORE than just roofs. (Roofing, windows, siding, doors, trim, gutters, etc.) They key to long term success WITHOUT burning out, is repeat customers. Hard to do that with a 50 year roof unless they move locally and need another roof.

    Can you do a video on door knocking with tattoos and how to overcome quick judgement? I’ve got a 3/4 sleeve and especially on older folks homes I feel like I get quick judgement and losses based on my tattoo. It’s not even anything bad but you know stipulation I guess?

      When I was selling, I just wore long sleeves. Problem solved. Now that I'm on the production side. I still wear long sleeves.

      I have hand tatts and I’m black bro … ppl are gona be dicks on the doors regardless of how you look or talk. Don’t let you having tattoos hold you back. A lot of ppl use all these things as an excuse. You got this !
      And I’m going to continue getting tatted..next year I’ll be getting my sleeve s.

    I heard with roofing sales they don’t take taxes out of your checks. So do that mean I’ll have to pay all of that back at the end of the year?

    • @TheRoofStrategist
      @TheRoofStrategist  10 місяців тому +2

      If you're a 1099 independent contractor, then the answer is yes - they will not withhold taxes and you'll have to pay them. However, as a 1099 rep you have a lot more write offs.

    • @SkinnyMuscles69
      @SkinnyMuscles69 9 місяців тому +1

      1099 is much better, more tax freedom. My company is now running a small portion of our checks through W2 now though because insurance won’t cover a full 1099 subcontractor place

      @@stoneyface65 would love to explain and could do a much better job than original poster. He’s just trying to get views. But don’t think he actually does roofing sales.
      1. Customer facing…Americans. Karens. Chads. Need I say more. Good luck. They will grind you down every single second. Call after hours, ask for money off when the job is done, pay late, bad reviews, go backs wearing your crew down, I can literally go on and on how bad of customers Americans have become.
      2. Roofs are VERY expensive now. Exacerbates number 1. Customers are highly aware of the costs of things. Not making it any easier to sell.
      3. Insurance is going to fail. Higher deductibles, less approvals, MONTHS TO REVIEW SUPPLEMENTS AND PAY. All leading to a very very tense situation with the customer. All made worse by number 2.
      4. Managing unprofessional labor. Not fun. You will be the middle guy. At all times. Crew needs more money, they are late, they messed something up…all added on top of customer wanting money taken off the bill, “where’s the crew”, I want all the nicest materials, and can you have them come back and fix this thing that doesn’t even have anything to do with my roof.
      You’ll have rebuttals. But I PROMISE you, you will get fed up with it very quickly and your good customer service will turn in to no BS service and less sales.
      Think long and hard before taking a job that requires you to KNOCK ON DOORS to sell 15-80k roofs, that you will be in bed with these customers for months, basically brown nosing. Throw a boss in the mix, maybe some poor admins or hell vehicle problems, you won’t have a life anymore.
