I had originally applied to 400 Tech sales jobs by just smacking the apply button on Linkedin and got only 1 job interview. Now i have made a list of 600 SDR Managers, hiring managers, Director and VP of sales and have built out a sales cadence to email, Linkedin message, and cold call 600 people ( about 2500 outbound activities) just to get some interviews.
Love to hear it. It can be hard to slow down, but precision is always better than spamming applications
has it worked out for you?
@@kimitruis I have 2 job interviews this week and only applied to 30 jobs with the follow up cadence where I message and email the sales team at each company. So it’s definitely working so far.
@@strongestdirector6137 that’s good to hear keep it up bro!
Great to hear that this has worked out so far. What software did you use for the cadence and messaging? Or just plain Google sheet
I've really been thinking about making the change as I already work a similar position right now in the car business. I have worked 8 years in business development at a car dealership and thinking about making the change into tech sales. I appreciate content like yours getting it real with the information. Really thought about signing up for the CourseCareers course on tech sales that everyone has been raving about. The only thing that has deterred me a bit has been the massive lay offs I've heard about from last year. I'm aware I have to be positive, but I feel like there's a lot I have to prepare for. What is your opinion or wisdom on this thought process? Changing jobs after that long I've noticed feels almost like Stockholm syndrome.. you want the change but it is also a big nerve racking.
First time I’ve watched your vids in a long while. I stopped because you were talking too fast. But I see you have fixed that. Thanks I’ll start watching you again 😊
Another year, another opportunity to use 0.75x speed :)
@@techsales-higherlevels luv that😂
This isn't just applied to sales, it's for any job. I'd wager to say it's far more effective in other career fields as they aren't expecting you to act like an SDR at all so it's worth practicing. The question is, when will AI become the new hard blocker for attempts to reach people on all mediums? Been watching the AI SDR calls go off and while it's goofy right now, I see that being a real issue where the cold calls will not work anymore along with cold emails within a decade. Thoughts?
Hard to say but I think you'll see more of a co-pilot method versus it replacing SDRs altogether. There will be teams able to hire fewer SDRs at once but I still think it's a ways out.
AI will be great for predictable phone calls like tech support with common problems or ordering food as an example. I don't think AI will be as successful as a highly skilled SDR, and even if it was they would have to throttle calls anyhow.
The SDR job is no doubt changing but I think it will just continue to require more qualified and strategically minded candidates. The days of tons of volume outreach are done.
If I’m doing a cold email for an entry level position, should I attach a cover letter and resume or just let the person know I’ve applied to the role? I’m applying to some internships and entry level positions.
The goal should be to set up a conversation. In theory sending an email/cover letter may help but if I'm being honest it's rare I'd take the time to read it unless I was responsible for going through all resumes and cover letters for the position.
To be honest I've had most success messaging on LinkedIn which is also effectively a resume with my profile, so I might suggest experimenting when it comes to email. LinkedIn I don't think it's necessary because your profile should be up to date, etc....
@@techsales-higherlevels I watched a few creators last night and got confused about who I was commenting under lol. But that creator said most people caught on to the LinkedIn messaging strategy and to just cold-email the recruiter
We are web3 startup and I have been looking forward to hire a tech sales personal we are looking a someone with background on Saas however we have a limited budget for this role any advice
Help me better understand where you're at as a business.
- Why is now the right time to hire a sales person?
- Are you already generating sales yourself?
- What kind of sales person are you looking for? SDR? AE?
Not sure if you consider sales engineers as tech sales, but I was lucky to land a role a top data company for sales eng last week. Had a few interviews with other companies for the same role over the past few months but struck out each time.
Is the slump more the sdr/ae roles?
Congrats! Yes sales engineering is a specialized niche of tech sales and often in my experience really isn't an entry level role.
What did you do before getting the SE job?
@@techsales-higherlevels thank you! before this role I was also doing presales at a public cloud provider. Before that though, cloud engineering
Great information ,thank you for sharing do I am interested in your course do you take students from London,England.
Yes, we have numerous students in Europe
Thank you for the information, Eric really appreciated it.
Thanks for watching!
Do you believe there will be an influx of openings in January/February?
Hiring traditionally picks up in the new year, I did notice a slowdown towards the end of this year with the holidays so now is a good time to set alerts at your target companies and be ready to pounce as they become available
you reckon remote first companies/ pvt start ups will grow a lot less in 2024?
I think 2023 was the worst year for that, hopefully the worst is behind us. That being said it won't go back to the insane pace of 2021+2022, but it hopefully will stabilize in 2024
I am planning on taking your course next year. Honestly my goal is not just to land a job but really work to be the greatest appointment setter / rep I can be. I know this will not be a get rich quick career but honestly, I'm planning on Learning from the bestt for the fist 4 months then applying and see where things take me. I will be a Accont executive when all things are said and done.
Love to hear and look forward to working with you!
Great content as always man
You already know! Appreciate it
Your advice is always useful.
Appreciate it!
What about skip tracing their name and cold calling the sales manager?
Definitely recommend doing that, there are lots of free tools like Lusha and I believe apollo.io that can get that info for you too
So, is it not worth trying to enter Tech Sales in 2024?
It's definitely worth it and we're seeing a huge uptick in hiring (6 of our students got jobs last week).
If your plan is to put 10 minutes into your resume and easy apply on LinkedIn to hundreds of jobs it's not worth wasting your time. There is a right and wrong way to go about it.
Appreciate your response! This is what I wanted to hear. Would you recommend getting experiense asap? I could start a comission only-job selling websites. @@techsales-higherlevels
So you're telling me there's a chance... 😂
Dollar tree brian Armstrong
What does that even mean?
Ah I get it now and you're totally right! Also, if I'm dollar tree Brian Armstrong, that means you're..... 😬
You've only had 5 years of sales experience, so what makes you qualified to teach others about it? 5 years is nothing.
You're so right! Can you link your videos and LinkedIn so I can share them with my audience?
Really appreciate the feedback
Stop b*tching Patrick, being a bully on the web is showing weakness.
You need to use some of that tech sales money to buy a microphone. I’m backing out one minute in because I can’t stand the audio. Sorry.
No worries! No bad vibes needed in the channel 👋
What you mean the sound is perfect !
Sound is fine, just no pleasing some people...
If you think sending LinkedIn DMs or emails will help 🤣🤣 I would think you’re desperate and trying to circumvent hiring practices…
And yet we had 3 students get multiple job offers last week.
Where do you work? How did you get the job?
