      Find someone that works with your insurance company like evolve construction. They helped my sister with her roof after the hurricane and all she had to pay was her deductible. They made sure the insurance company approved everything the home actually needed too.

      I’m helping my buddy start his construction business. I’ve done sales and marketing for a good insurance company in central Illinois. My parents were always savvy but I wouldn’t mind learning from you. Lmk if you have time for some questions, I’m 5 days in the game for their business (our business, gotta own it, I even wear the company shirt all time while DoorDashing too) and have 15 leads, 1 inspection done, 2 set up for Monday and have follow up calls. I just to learn more about roofs and how to rebuttal to a client that a new roof after inspecting it, that a new roof is an investment to their home that will bring value if they plan to sell it or pass it down to anyone plus it prevent anything else from happening like leaks, rotting, etc. . I have the confidence but I need the knowledge to rebuttal a client “on the spot”, since I know everyone is trying to sell them (the customer) on anything and everything.

    Wish I would've watched this 5 years ago when I worked roofing. I worked for a small town boy and roofing was some of the most gratifying work I've ever done as long as the pitch wasn't too steep, busting out and using toe boards were a pain in the ass. Tear off was satisfying, using a shingle cutter to get a perfect end cut was amazing. The worst part was being 140 pounds and hauling up an 80 pound bundle. Roofers should be paid more than plumbers and electricians imo just for the danger factor

    Thanks for posting this. It's great to be able to understand when the roofer is speaking. How much does the siding type effect the roof job. I have three year old Alside Ascend Composite Cladding Siding (installs like vinyl with a J channel on the bottom). How hard is it to replace the step flashing (I think you skipped that term). I'd guess the J channel is screwed through the old step flashing. Seems like Hardie could be a pain too.
    For the ridge venting... I like the idea, but I have a whole house fan requiring 9 sq feet of venting. I don't think a ridge vent alone is enough... And, I've also had squirrel problems. Need metal covers over everything. Sigh.

    Here's another question if I have ice and water barrier down on the eaves do I still need to put felt paper over the ice and water barrier ?

    • @YetiRoofing
      @YetiRoofing  3 роки тому

      Technically no but if you ever plan on doing your roof again yourself or want to be nice to the next guy, then yes. The shingles and the ice and water shield overtime almost become one and they are very difficult to remove the shingles when they are stuck to the ice and water shield. With that said, 99% of contractors do not put felt paper over the ice and water because it’s just an additional expense.

    A roofer has quoted using a lead drip edge?....instead of aluminum, as being a superior product. Would you agree?

    Question: if I have the ice and water barrier on the eaves do place the starter shingles on top of the ice and water barrier?

    • @YetiRoofing
      @YetiRoofing  3 роки тому

      Yes, the starter shingles go on top of the ice & water shield so the field shingles can stick directly to the starter shingles. Great question!

    Someone tell me the best synthetic underlayment for the Houston TX area

    • @YetiRoofing
      @YetiRoofing  3 роки тому +1

      They’re all very similar. The only difference would be is if you are installing a certain brand of shingles to use the same brand underlayment for possible extended warranty.
