    That is the cutest triops tank ever. Also, careful who you buy your eggs from; Smithsonian and Discovery and all these seemly trustworthy and known names don't farm their own eggs in a lab environment and collect from natural areas instead and, as one would expect, you get all sorts of fairy shrimp, brine shrimp, and other things that aren't necessarily triops. In fact, it seems you're lucky if you DO get a triop. Just what I heard, don't sue me.

      I wont, and the funny thing is. I'm campaigning for several years now to see these kits removed from the aquatic hobby market. I also contacted these brands when alot of people asked me for help...
      Every year around December alot of children get these kits as gifts, I usually end up with the disappointed parents that need help with their kits. Reason: there are no damn Triops inside these kits ( some do, but the latter dont)
      After explaining and talking, I usually end up selling my own eggs to them instead so they still have the experience they were looking for.
      I know about the issues, and im trying to supply those who have fallen for this problem created by other brands.
      In the end, I just want the people happy and enjoying the same hobby im so passionate about

      @@TriassicParkTriops And as well, if you buy triops eggs from a reputable source, you can also opt to get a specific kind of triops, so extra benefit! Of course, I DO recommend everyone start out with a basic kit first to get used to the process (you get food, a container, etc.), but make sure it's from Toyops or equivalent. But just for the FIRST time. The next time, you should be set up, know what's involved, etc., and be able to buy eggs from a reputable source such as yourself, etc.

      I got a Smithsonian kit. I got one Triops, but I also got three clam shrimp.

      @@pdiz My Smithsonian kit said it contained cancriformis, but I can't be sure because it came with small clam shrimp resembling those in the Southwest USA (where Triops longicaudatus live).

    Hi! How do you retrieve the eggs that didn't hatch? Don't they end up mixed with the detritus, making it very hard to sieve them? And if they're left with the hatchlings, will they eventually eat them if I don't remove them from the hatchery?
    If I wanted to use a single tank setup (no separate hatchery tank) and just retrieve the eggs after the life cycle of the tank is done, won't those eggs that didn't hatch end up with all the other eggs laid in the tank, so that I can collect them all together at the end of the cycle?
    I'm trying to optimise my setup before starting to raise them, I've been gifted some eggs recently and just got into this pet, right now I'm trying to learn all there is to learn about it.

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  2 роки тому +2

      Its possible they would mix with the Detritus indeed, you can also decide to let the eggs ande Detritus sink into your setup, mixing it up with future approaches you're gonna Harvest from that tank :)

    I just bought a kit, and the bag with the eggs and sand is wet (the inside clearly has water in) and the other kit was missing the eggs so I can't know for certain it was supposed to be that way. Needless to say I don't think those eggs might hatch even if I dried them again because I have no idea how long they've been in those conditions. I think my best course of action would be to go back to the place and exchange them and check for sure the bag with the eggs is dry and it is a complying set. What do you think? Could those eggs hatch if I tried to dry them?

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  Рік тому +1

      Yes these eggs could hatch if you dry them for at least 2-3 weeks.

    Do eggs have to go through a drying phase in order to hatch them? Or is it theoretically possible for uninterrupted generations of triops to exist in a tank without fishing out eggs and drying them?

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  Рік тому

      Theoretically its possible indeed, practically we did aswell but it takes some human intervention to guide them along.
      For example: if there are adults present, its a good idea to separate the babies / hatchlings into a separate container ( floating hatchery for example)
