It certainly helps when you have an excellent guitarist playing the guitar! That's a lovely tone he's achieving and damn the amp sounds lovely too . I'm hearing a lot of chords I would expect from Dream Theater or many prog metal bands. However this guitarist has a lovely soft and gentle picking style . It was satisfying to hear that it doesn't sound muddy clean or when distorted. My Ibanez Q 54 guitars are 6 string editions and don't sound awful when distorted but they sound a little bit muddy compared to the fishman pickups in my other guitar. I would love if they released this guitar with DiMarzio pickups or Seymour duncans or Black knuckle pickups or Fishman pickups. Maybe have the options to install different pickups?? Anyway awesome video! :) I do however absolutely love my 6 string Ibanez quest guitars and have played them a lot! They are so comfortable to play and because they weigh very little and have wonderful necks they have become better the more I play them . I did take all of them to get set up by a luthier first though. I appreciate that Ibanez has created a solution for players who maybe cannot afford to order a Kiesel or a Strandberg! :)
It's a partial coil split. By adding a resistor, it doesn't deactivate entirely the other coil, only quietens it down while still retaining some of the humbucking properties.
@@hophopkins3526 Personally, I would rewire it for series/parallel switching. I like the parallel sound more than the partial split. Plus, a humbucker in parallel has full humbucking, just like in series.
Hello Ibanez, How strong is the output of the pickups and can these also used for dynamic breakup sounds? Is a treble bleed at the volume included? Thanks !!!
only a question, i have a luthier made guitar with 2 humbuckers and ibanez dyna mix 10. With dynamix 10 activated is it normal to hear noise in position 1, 3 and 5 and not only in 2 and 4? i mean with power tap activated.
It “should” partially cancel hum in positions 1,3,5 with the power tap. Both coils are still activated but one of the coils is tapped (I believe with a resistor). I have a Ibanez with it and it’s pretty quiet but not as quiet as in humbucker mode. It’s an okay sound but way too dark to sound like a single coil. Thinking about just wiring the pick ups in parallel instead of the power tap. Parallel wiring would give you more of a single coil sound (in my opinion) and you would get full hum canceling
@@srficarrathe point of partially “tapping” The humbucker is to give a louder signal. General, pickups that are low or medium output sound anemic when you use only one coil. There’s a few different ways to go about it. Using a resistor, using a capacitor, and using both. I wonder if they thought to have both humbuckers in power tap in parallel with each other but out of phase where it’s hum canceling but louder and still with the parallel/single coil vibe. That would probably throw off some of the other switch positions though.
If only Quest series had floating trem system. Ibanez why did you do this, why? lol please listen to us and come up with trem series and you better be quick with it, it's customer's demand!
if these ever get a whammy you know im gonna buy one
Loving the clean tones.
Can't wait to get my hands on one of them headless model, having a headless guitar is a blessing when you travel a lot
clean channel 10\10

IF THERE WAS A IBANEZ CONTEST I WOULD TOTALLY PARTICPATE FOR ONE OF THESE

Tremolo plz 😇
Ibanez please release a prestige version!!!!
+1,000 for this! I hope it happens someday.
such excellent playing!
Full,rich tones, Holy s*%t!
I am waiting for a better color and tremolo bridge.
And for a whammy bar/tremolo arm. I don't know how they pretend to compete without it ;(
Same bro, this guitar color looks like dirt
But I will buy it anyway (maybe)
Sounds very prog metal. Super cool
tbh still not understand about Power Tap feature

ahhhhhh i see i see
that's why i feel weird while playing because i sense single coil vibe but it's not like single coil
thanks thanks

Ibanez should make with gloss finish and im waiting for it get it

Hello! Which pedal did you use for the first part? :-)
So good
1:20 no one's ready for that minor chord man
A Q Prestige and a trem? Could this be real?
Bought mine tonight

@@srficarra in fact in the end i choose to wire in parallel. Way better result, you're right about that.

Ibanez why no Tremolo- WHY :)
Is it normal that the these pickups are so low output? Compared to my other guitars this Q series needs way higher input gain on my audio interface
I am considering buying one and I see your comment🫠
Holy shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh😮
is it a Floyd Rose type bridge?
No
🤘🤘

Turn off all the effects so I can hear the naked guitar tones, please.
Wanna hear the guitar...Not a fuzz box or a chorus...
Sounds rough
If this had black hardware and pickups...
You could at least tune the guitar...
