I built my own. It clocks in at a ridiculous 4.5 pounds and it's a joy to play, carry around and keep in tune. Now whem I pick up my strats they feel like anvils. I think this is what Leo Fender would have gone with back in the day if headless bridges were so prevalent and cheap then. Because he was so aware of ergonomics, practicity, and playability.

In Greece, some guitar stores, especially Trimis, who is an Ibanez distributor, used to stock these. For some reason, they are gone, now. And I don't know when the next batch is going to be released, over here. 😟
I have a QX54QM with the slanted frets and I exclusively use it in the classical position with the tuners partially resting on my legs. I keep my strap tight enough that the guitar stays in the same position between my legs even if I let it go of it with both hands and it stays in more or less the same place if I stand up. The weight is more or less distributed equally between my legs and my shoulder. I have had this thing resting on my leg for 4+ hours easily and have never experienced any discomfort from the tuners on my leg, even when wearing thinner clothing. It's so light I can forget its still sitting in my lap. I have also never had tuning issues. The tuning pegs are pretty stiff so I think its unlikely that you would knock it out of tune sitting in this position. I LOVE this guitar. My only real complaint is the position of the volume knob. I have struggled to find a way to palm mute on the high e and b strings without touching the volume knob. Luckily its not something I do often.

I've got the 7 string slanted fret version and it's very comfortable to play. Was well set up and the pickups sound great after adjustment.

You'll need HA301 (narrow instrument neck adjustment, NINA) to use it with Hercules wall hangers. Basically rubber extenders that help to prevent guitar slipping from the hanger.
If I got this guitar it would be for all those different pickup configurations! Clean tones are always great with those coil taps. What a wild setup haha
I played one in a shop yesterday and was pleased that the neck had some beef to it. I don’t like thin necks.

it´s either this one of the jackson juggernaut et6, the latter probably would fit better his hand and keeps tuning longer
I’m so glad I got the one with the slanted frets! The pickups were absolutely unacceptably unusable, not even joking I got 2 defective ones in a row, a major fumble for both ibanez and Sweetwater.
But the slanted frets are awesome! Had to paint glow in the dark enamel on the side markers to be able to actually see them in the dark 😂 but it’s a killer guitar with a set of alpha omegas in it
Might be really late, I play all my guitars classical style same with my Qseries. Ive never had an issue with tuning or it being uncomfortable for prolonged playing sessions. Hope this helps!

I have had a Q54 for a year and a half and consider it one of the best guitar investments I have made.
My back and shoulders are grateful, the playability is excellent, the versatility very extensive, and I can play all genres of music on it more than acceptably. I like the sound very much and I defy anyone in a blind listening to say that the pickups are ceramic.
The only flaw I found are the Luminlay side dots: not very visible during the day and with very limited nighttime brightness duration, even when "charging" them with UV light for a long time. I solved this problem in an effective, satisfactory and reversible way at the same time by coloring them with water-based enamel.

Absolutely, I own the Q52 (laser blue) and the bridge pickup is heavy as shit. The volume pot seems to have a slight boost as you crank the knob to 10, i like to roll it off and I find it get's super tight for high gain tones. I use Amplitube so i can't compare to a real amp, however I find amongst all my guitars this one works perfectly with all of my presets for my Schecter Banshee Mach-6 which has a set of Lundgren M6's in it, I don't have to tweak the patch to make it sound good like all of my other guitars. They have a very unique voicing and are some of the most diverse pickups I've ever used. I'd say more midrange overall than my Schecter.
I have this guitar and I honestly have no problem getting to all 24 frets comfortably. It's not as easy say as my mm majesty but definitely not bad . But i have big hands.

You forgot Legator. I got a Legator ghost anniversary and it’s one of my favorite guitars to play now. Comes with fishman moderns is smooth as butter.
Very nice review. I am playing Qx52 (slanted frets) for half an year now and it become my first choice among 6 guitars that i use (3 of them are Ibanez). It is ideal for gigs, as lighter guitar simply does not exist (not that I know), and yet it has full and creamy voice. Pickups and pots works very well. Neck is also very good (my personal preference) and slanted frets make easier acess to top frets.
I as well have been rocking the Qx52 for the past year and a half and it's been AMAZING it's like playing air guitar and I find myself picking it up more often for the simple fact that it's that much easier to pick up in the first place 😂
If you're playing it over the long term you'd probably make a better review. I note most of the youtubers who waxed lyrically about these Q series guitars at launch when I look at their feed today I see the guitar(s) they're actually playing and it's usually a different one. Ultimately, of course, you should play the guitar you like rather than the one someone else does but definitely don't listen to any of the people who just get sent equipment to promote - especially the ones who publish a video every few days with them using completely different equipment. Maybe this guy is actually convinced and will go headless now but....even the Japanese guy that got the signature version of this guitar seems to play other guitars more often these days. That doesn't make them bad or not the guitar for you but Guthrie Govan / Steve Vai has a signature guitar it's the guitar they play. Typically these guitars are very expensive. The other 'signature guitar' especially in the modern day when people like Chapman and Ibanez are giving signature guitars to anyone with a social media following - even people that can barely play the guitar (like Anderton's staff) and the guitar is usually a more budget friendly option and I'm very cynical that the guitarist is going to actually use that guitar long term - and that seems to to be the case. Again though we should all go to a store and find the guitar that suits us but, undoubtedly these promotional videos affect people's decisions - in which case I'd repeat : click 'videos' and see what the guitarist in the channel actually uses.
There is one caveat to this approach. To have a large YT channel, you need to be relateable. If you sit with a headless all the time, you will be relateable to fewer guitarists than if you sit with a more conservative guitar. So you can not always know from the videos what the host actually prefers.

I would challenge any wanabe Rock star to hear the difference of any guitar unseen, and if an FX is used it could be a $100 V $50,000 guitar fact.
The feel and play ability is a massive factor. But the main thing you need from a guitar is your skill level. I always have a good laugh when people argue over sound quality while running it through multiple pedals like Reverb, compression, Distortion, Phaser and the list goes on.

Would you not recommend this guitar if you play in a classical position? You mentioned it in the video but I’m wondering if it messes up the tuning so bad that it gets in the way.
I have the 7 string version of this guitar, and I actually mostly play it in classical position. It feels more comfortable since the body is a bit smaller to account for the bridge placement, and as long as you're not like rolling it around on your leg, it won't go out of tune, the tuners are stiff enough to not move on their own, but not too stiff where it gets annoying to tune

I use a guitar strap with holes that line up with the two pins of the Ibanez. I attach the strap to both pins at the same time when I‘m sitting. That way the tuners are naturally protected by the strap. Since the strap is a little bit flexible I find it very comfortable and relaxing to play in the classical position.
Probably the best way to use it, I find when it's sitting on my right thigh that I'm bringing my left hand to close into my body and it feels cramped where as classical and standing it sits perfectly on my body.
The area above the nut is technically the head so it is erroneous to say they are heedless. I would argue you are saying a limiting head with tuning in the body is blah blah what ever you said.
Talk about needless pedantry... if you didn't have anything past the nut it wouldn't be a freaking guitar.
Once all the talk FINALLY ended the playing and guitar sounded great. Maybe you should consider less talk and more action.
