Chinese tracking ship Yuan Wang 5 was docked at the Hambantota Port in Sri Lanka. This has raised security concerns in India because the ship is controlled by the Peoples Liberation Army Strategic Support Force. This ship is seen as a Chinese Spy ship due to its tracking facilities up to 750 km. The ship is docked at Hambantota port because the port was leased to China for 99 years and this is seen as part of the Chinese Debt Trap policy. This policy was developed to maintain Chinese influence in the Indian Ocean and to threaten India. This video explains the Chinese Debt trap and the String of Pearls Initiative by China. This video also explains the concept of Maritime boundaries of coastal states. The same is defined in the United Nations Conventions of the Laws of the Sea (UNCLOS).
