It’s very interesting to me going back in time and looking at a content creator’s older content. It gives a person the ability to really appreciate all the little improvements made in production quality and how a person develops over time.
Was just thinking this! Especially on the handle that he's "not happy at all how it turned out"...In future videos, he would apply some of that 2-component solution to fill those holes before painting and he'd be on his merry way lol. Very cool to see his growth, especially for someone already so masterful.
This man is my hero. I see all his videos one by one and I am amazed by his attention of detail. Repairs everything like new, except the light of the sandblaster.
I absolutely agree. "My Mechanics" does it they way it should be done. I like to hear the sounds of the tools and to hear people clearly when they do speak. So many people sabotage their own videos by going out of their way to add a music track that plays over their voice 😂😂😂. The weirdest part is, these video makers actually think the music makes their video "better". Just like the "laugh track" ruined some of the greatest tv shows US history, the "music track" ruins some of the would be great youtube channels.
MyMechanics: I can well understand you being dissatisfied with the porosity of the main casting and the tig welding not being a perfect match but yet again you surpassed your own very high standards to produce something of great quality and beauty. I absolutely love your work!
I'm not mechanic nor do I have a single clue as to how to do any of this, but could the handle have possibly been painted? Or maybe even that technique to make the metal "black" have helped to cover up those welding color issues?
I know it's been three years but I think you did a really good job, I've seen other channels fix those welding spots by heating up the entire object and letting it slowly cool back down, it makes all the metal an even temperature and when it cools back down everything blends together
I must confess something... when watching your videos I feel both a deep sense of shame and a great inspiration. I was always a "It's good enough." kinda guy. I always thought if it works fine then dont bother with it. But then i see someone like you. who sees something that could be better..so they make it better. Sees something that can be improved so they improve it. The comment where you said it looked ugly so youll make a new one...It remindedme of all the times I thought something looked ugly but it worked ok so..I left it. You inspire me to go further and be better at my projects. To strive for as good as it can be...not just Good enough. Thank you for that.
Please keep making more content with these quality restorations. I have tried watching several other restoration channels… none compare. Your attention and dedication to fit, finish, and detail are unmatched. Phenomenal.

No music is great, but my favorite thing of all: it's not sped up. I never realized how much I appreciate just hearing the sounds of these loud machines at work until I saw this guy's videos. Most of the other restoration channels I see always speed up the entire process and honestly they may as well just mute the audio. I don't want to hear an angle grinder running at 20x the normal speed for 30 seconds straight. Show me a few cuts of it here and there doing its thing and then move on to the next bit. That's what I really enjoy about this guy's videos. He does just that. No single part of the project is shown for too long. Each step is shown just long enough that you get the idea without it being overly boring, and it's not sped up so the sound of the equipment has a reason to be there. Another really good channel I recommend is the hot wheels restoration guy, baremetalHW. He has a similar editing style to my mechanics but focuses on restoring vintage (and more modern) Hot Wheels toy cars. Really neat channel if you want to see more stuff in this kind of style. Many of them are not "perfect" restorations but he does a pretty good job of getting things as close as possible to the original image. As usual, pitting of the main body cast like what was experienced here is still an issue, not much can be done about that. But it's still really interesting to see the entire process, and baremetalHW also provides insightful commentary.
I know the struggle with porous aluminum. I was restoring something recently, a drill powered angle buffer from the 1950's, and it was originally a rough cast finish, but I wanted to file it smooth and polish it but no matter how much I filed, new voids kept appearing. So I decided to do a sand blast finish so at least they weren't as noticable. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
I discovered this channel about 10 days ago and binge watched all the videos in one night. Which was awesome but I should had taken my time, I have been feigning for an upload for 9 days Haha. This is by far my favourite channel for restorations. Your dedication to getting things not just working right but looking right is inspiring. It's a shame about the handle casting being so poor, but you can only do the best you can with what you're given. However, I know you were considering, however briefly, machining a new handle from raw stock. Go on, admit it! :-) No matter what's going wrong in my life, watching one of your videos gives me a genuine lift. I can't wait for the next one!
I've been watching this channel like crazy for past couple of months, I always end up wondering if the any of those equipments would 've looked this good originally. He takes them to a whole new level! I'm quite sure if any of the original manufactureres of these equipment look at them now they will pay top dollars to have these in their hall of fame.
I appreciate the fact that you let your work do the talking :) Super relaxing, ultimately satisfying, and very educational too. Actually never seen a belt wrench before. Also, you've used previously restored vice and oiler :D Love it.
YES! This is a video I can put on and let my mind wander a bit as I watch. Then, of course, I have to start looking at tools on Amazon or some such place.
@MrCorvusC Totally agree with you except the vice was sent to him as a result of a restoration of one of their vices. Otherwise like I said you are totally right.

There is nothing more satisfying that watching metal being turned on a lathe. Too bad the handle didn’t turn out better but it was not due to lack of effort on your part. Another great project, friend!
I can't believe you're apologizing for any of this! Your work is amazing, and your dedication to the craft shows through, and I believe that's why you're hard on yourself. Let me say this...because of you, I was inspired to start my own small restoration business. You're a big inspiration, and I love your work. Never keep any of your videos locked away...
Way to end the night! Watching a calming restoration video in bed is the best.
Isn't great to not have to listen to annoying music while watching him work.
I found the oiler! Wheres the vice?
I love that you use the restored oil can too
Sometimes I try to watch other videos of restoration from other channels. And all in the sudden, the biblical quality of work of my mechanics explodes to my face.
Most of others restorers call " restoration " a simple refurbishing ...
I apologize for my English, but I just have to leave this comment. I watched all your videos, it's just amazing, this is the best restoration on UA-cam! respect you!
P.S. Restoration of the manometer looked 10 times, aesthetic pleasure!
You're i english is very good :-) thank you very much
Just finished watching. Turned out nice. It's always a pleasure to watch a restore video by somebody who knows what they are doing and has the skills to back it up.
Thank you very much :-) i really do appreciate it
So interesting I couldn't look away! You could almost say... it was *riveting*
Polishing and sand blasting are my favourite moments in your videos!
EDIT: apart from seeing it finished that is :P
These videos are so immersive, i find myself watching these every night, oddly satisfying and relaxing. Keep up the great work!
These videos are so good, they are appreciated and loved across the globe. Look at all the different languages in the comment section.
Instead of an old early 1918 Rivet Hammer, it now looks like a new modern design that just hit the market. Very nice indeed, Thumbs Up!
I can sense your frustration with this piece throughout the video, but you still make it beautiful at the end. Definitely a great piece, thank you for sharing
There is nothing more satisfying that watching metal being turned on a lathe. Too bad the handle didn’t turn out better but it was not due to lack of effort on your part. Another great project, friend!
I personally like it with all the imperfections because that’s what gives the tool character
I appreciate your oppinion :-)
I can't believe you're apologizing for any of this! Your work is amazing, and your dedication to the craft shows through, and I believe that's why you're hard on yourself.
Let me say this...because of you, I was inspired to start my own small restoration business. You're a big inspiration, and I love your work. Never keep any of your videos locked away... I want to see every single video! I'd especially like to see a video in which a restoration failed. They say we all learn the most from failure!
You upload as soon as i wake up and its the best feeling I've ever had.
Thank you so much :-)
This is the best restoration channel very satisfying videos I love it
I LOVE this channel. Hands down the best restoration channel on this platform
Thank you so much :-)
Дружище твои видео все пересмотрел , после работы они очень расслабляют, спасибо большое.
I was really impressed when you made your own air fitting 9:33. that was really something i did not consider at all
You are the god of Craftsman/Restoration ASMR. These are perfect for de-stressing
Even if you didn't perfectly restore it, we still love it.
Отличная работа! 👍Спасибо за субтитры. Ваши комментарии к работе очень полезны.🤝
I love how you lay it all out. Before and after. These restorations are amazing to watch. Thank you.
Top work, always blows me away when you just make a new piece.
Thank god you uploaded the vid. Your invented tools are amazing and creative. We subs don't care about left holes, we care about your dedication and how you try your best in reviving the piece. A Bonus is to show us, that the hammer works again, and how to use it.
No, we care about those, but give him a pass because he is so much better than every other "restoration" channel.
absolutey
So much loving care being given to these poor old tools. If there is a heaven for neglected tools, this man's workshop is it.
These videos are so satisfying to watch, every time!
I have a small request concerning the videos: when you’re making a new part, could you maybe hold up the new one and the old one next to each other in front of a camera? Of course it’s not a problem if you don’t, I’m just interested to compare and see the improvement. I love your content anyway!
you put the other restoration channels to shame. i can't even watch anyone else cause i'm always thinking "my mechanics would've done a better job..."
Watching sandblasting is one of the most unusually satisfying things to watch.
I know, right? That's why I bought one years ago. Not only incredibly handy, but it never gets old.
It transforms "ugly broken, useless, just replace it" into "oh, it was just ugly, and needed some love", and it's weirdly cathartic
I think my wife has one of these upstairs. I can hear this noise every now and again. Glad to know she is just installing rivets.
In fairness you should probably give her a hand!
OK, I have finally got my fix, perfection, Every-time it's Perfection, just Love it. Does it right the first time every time.
The best repair channel I've ever found.
Couldn't agree more its watching what I dream about doing but can't such a pleasure to watch these
@@SuperMarkbrewer, Definitely, I'm no longer able so it gives me great pride to see the quality to attention as I once did in all my work.
thank you for calming my brain, yet again
This channel is next level, it has propper restoration and ASMR in one package, i don't think it can get any better. 😁
I like how the handle looks. Tells a story and has some character. Not everything needs to perfect.
Glad to hear that, thank you
