You want to know the biggest nanny state in the world?? Simply visit Australia. Heres just a list of things that are banned: crossbows, slingshots, fireworks (even firecrackers), sping loaded knives, laser pointers (over 1mw), airsoft guns, paintball guns and pretty much every other weapon. Also to get an air gun you have to apply for a firearms license, supply a genuine reason for that firearm (recreation isnt one) have the gun safe bolted to the floor and the airgun stored in there at all times and the ammo to be kept separate. Also the police come over often to check to see if the safe is in good shape and the gun has to be registered with the police. Man you Americans are so lucky with your second amendment.
Almost a year later, you poor bastards are getting it worse with the nanny state, you guys can't even buy video games in some stores it seems any more because "they contain violence" AMD that distal violence will apparently hurt someone's feelings. seems you Aussies get screwed out of every thing.
To own an original G1 Megatron toy (which transforms into a decently realistic looking gun, by 1980s toy standards) in Australia, I believe it must be kept in a safe in a locked room with a reinforced door and no more than one window, which must be barred.
Cigarettes are more dangerous than guns, my bet is that cigarettes kill more people in the US, than guns do. I would rather sit next to an armed person, than a smoker :D
Tobacco kills over half a million a year, this is a very very conservative number. Guns are about 30,000. Most gun deaths are accident/suicides as well.
Each month, more people die from smoking related illness than people do from gun shot in an entire year. More people die in a single day from second hand smoke related illness than have ever died in a mass shooting.
According to the history channels show modern marvels, in one of the pre commercial facts, the last time a legally owned machine gun was used to kill someone it was a cop using a POLICE ISSUE MACHINE GUN!
8:46 Barry's comparison of smokers' rights vs. non-smokers' rights still pertains to the "thought police", in that the government no longer allows privately-owned businesses to choose whether or not to allow their customers/clients/etc. to smoke on their premises. Banning smoking in your business "because most of my customers don't like being around tobacco smoke, and I prefer to cater to the majority" is acceptable, but banning smoking "because the government says it's no longer okay to allow it" is not. What about the property owner's rights?
The main argument against smoking in restaurants etc. is secondhand smoke. There is medical evidence that secondhand smoke is harmful to other's health. The thought is that you have the liberty to do what you want with your body as long as it doesn't harm others.
@@borbies business owners have the right to allow their customers to smoke if they wish to. We as the potential customers have the right to choose whether to spend our money at these businesses or not. Don't want the secondhand smoke? Don't shop/eat there. You guys are real american heroes, you guys are real heroes of the world. You don't pomote the use of weapons, you promote the use of our brains. Thank you so much.
Eric said people tolerate something then the next generation accepts it. Very true. Your point on smoking shows how you have come to tolerate something that once was not a social norm. Humans are now trying to get rid of that bad social practice and you do what you tell others not to do. You Eric blind to history speak in a way that thwarts a good cause. Eric said smoking everyone does it. We use to see it on TV. Men and women smoked all the time. Once upon a time not everyone smoked. The tobacco industry used social psychology by way of Sigmund Freud's nephew Edward Bernays propaganda campaign "Torches of Freedom" to trick women into smoking, making them think they were freeing themselves from control by men.
I wanna thank y'all for raising awareness about guns rights and all the stuff y'all do. You two are kinda like patriotic heroes to me. I think Barry made the best point. Individual liberty is limited to the extent that it negatively affects others. The difficult question is, at what point are those around you being too sensitive? People can argue that automatic weapons negatively affects them because of the fear it creates. Is it ridiculous? Perhaps. But it's quite easy to rationalize that some kind of individual action that someone may take somehow negatively affects you, therefore that liberty should be limited.

The "security" the government offers is "from yourself". The same security the police department "provides". Granted, I appreciate and respect the police officers for risking their lives every day, you CAN NOT count on them to protect you. The "security" the government offers is "from yourself". The same security the police department "provides". Granted, I appreciate and respect the police officers for risking their lives every day, you CAN NOT count on them to protect you. If someone breaks in in the middle of the night, YOU are a first responder. The same way the fire department encourages everyone to have protective measures against fire, I believe the police should promote gun ownership. They report crime, not prevent it.
Excellent video Eric and Barry.
I live in CT. I remember about 10 years back when buying ammo at Wally World they would ask, "will this ammo be used in a handgun?" Since I was buying 12 ga birdshot I said YES. These days there is a very poor selection of ammo at my local Walmart. Can't remember when I last saw a firearm there.
