      He did an awesome job, as usual. The idea has been around for awhile (15 years at least). I've had to do it in 3D, which is much easier (because you can just animate the texture map under the layer of water drops). I've rendered so many cans and bottles that just I pull up a file and drop in whatever I want playing on the can. This is my first time seeing it done analogue. I didn't even know anyone was shooting stuff like this practical anymore, but he did it so fast and accurately. I said the same thing about the video where he drops the shoe in the milk. We usually do that stuff in 3D. In this case you'd put the foreground leaf in as well for interaction with the can and the droplets.

      I wouldn't call this a commercial, as a viewer I see no need to buy this. There is no pitch, no creation of want for the consumer. That's why most commercials have a story line and not just some flashy can spinning. Humans see more of a reason when there is an emotional attachment to something.

      @@TheMrckraus this. I don't understand what's special about this other than show how tech has come far for the consumers to pull something off that professional filmmakers would only be able to do usually. It's great and all, but all of what he's shown in this and the previous video is what I'd say most of the passionate filmmakers should already be able to pull off with little to no difficulty.
      I honestly liked the previous video better. This one just feels Blender Guru 0.5 to me and I just couldn't bother watching anymore. There's lots of tutorials for those that are actually passionate and want to learn, but this isn't one of them.

  • @EposVox
    @EposVox 3 роки тому +512

    Awesome tutorial, so please don't take this as shade, but: Either FCPX is way more limited than I possibly imagined, or you're making extra work for yourself here. Luma transitions should be a native thing supported here, as should alpha channels. So half the work keying out the transition seems unnecessary, and with alpha inherited across layers, you shouldn't need to add a blue screen and key it back out - that's just asking for additional keying artifacts where just the natural alpha transparency should work fine. I've never heard of a NLE that doesn't maintain alpha down through layers - but I also haven't used FCPX.

      I mean the main point of the transition is using motion control to make a seamless transition between different colors/versions of the same product.. Once you have that part, you can use any B&W overlay or make your own to add uniqueness to the transition itself. He is walking through the whole process not just relying 100% on the storyblocks asset. Its just a tool in the toolbox and there's nothing wrong with using it.

    Almost done it but there is no stencil alpha into the blend modes...

    • @ozzie1246
      @ozzie1246 3 роки тому

      Okay so honestly I think maybe the software Daniel uses is a bit weird in its features because this should be even easier in Resolve.
      Right after keying both cans, you should be able to go into the Color Page for the green can and add your transition matte *into* the same node space as the green can. Right-click to add an Alpha Output and if memory is right, just connect the transition matte's green input line into the blue-coloured Alpha Output :)
      Edit: I think with keying it's definitely a little more complicated than how my tiny brain remembers it. But what Daniel is doing is basically using a luma matte to drive the transparency of a video clip, a very standard thing that doesn't use his Blending Modes way in any other editing software
